The hotel deserves a perfect score! And the staff from Reception to Bolero restaurant a 6 our of 5! The friendly and informative greeting we received at check-in was superb. The bus tickets for Kriens/Pilatus is included for all guests and close by. The receptionist went even as far as walking us to the parking we had reserved (22CHF/day--worth it). We had room number 611 with a bay window on the top floor and it was very comfortable. They thought of everything from coffee machine to all small details a traveler might need. The location is very central!

I was really excited to start travelling after 2 years hiatus. I chose Switzerland as I had already made plans for the a 3 weeks trip in May 2020. I had to cancel it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I picked Alpina Hotel in Luzerne due to its great loation and affordability. It is near many eateries and other attractions. I booked 2 rooms; 338 and 339. We get to enjoy the street view and marvelled at the beautiful building opposite our rooms. I noticed that the opposite building was built in 1537 [ need to confirm this ]. The street was generally quiet except in the mornings when rubbish trucks cleared did their cleaning. The room has simple layout and mine has 2 sinks in the living area. The bed and pillows area are comfortable. The bathroom is small but all items worked well. I did not see any staff at Alpina as most of them were based at the nearby sister hotel, The Monopol, which is located about 20m away. Checking in was fast and easy and it was done at Monopol. I was grateful for all the guidance and assistance provided by the receptionist. Alpina hotel is located about 110m away from Luzerne Train Station and it was relatively easy to find. My room ; 339 is bigger than 338. All in all, I had a really great experience staying in this hotel.

We had stayed at this hotel twice before and booked for a third time thinking we were going to have the same great experience. Oh dear! how times have changed at this hotel. From the first conversation at reception, it transpired that they had made a mistake on our booking and weren't expecting us on that day, so we had a 4 hour wait for a room to be sorted. We weren't given any information or blue visitor card ”we don't do that anymore” after checking our itinary and mailing the Swiss Holiday Company, which we'll never use again! we were supplied with the visitor card. There wasn't any information for guests in the rooms either. We were also told that the restaurant was closed on a Sunday and we had to use another hotel's restaurant, again we had had no information regarding this. We were expecting a four course evening meal but were only offered three and the dessert was icecream, every night?! The restaurant staff were disinterested and the service was poor, we waited 30 minutes for a starter and when we complained we were told they were busy, there were 20 people in the restaurant. We waited over 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink in the lounge area after staff had held a meeting, totally ignoring the only two people in the lounge, the beer was poor and the other drink was a very poor quality although the prices weren't! The breakfast choice was ok, nothing more. The meal in the alternative hotel was as bad with the menu consisting of Rissotto, 3 ways. A 30 minute wait for a starter, same reason ”we are busy”. At least both hotels were consistent in offering poor service. The room we had was very good, spacious and clean. We love Lucerne, the lake, the mountains and the restaurants and drinking areas, there's always something to see and come across, but this hotel....pick somewhere else! We complained to the holiday company but haven't received even an acknowledgement to the email sent to them.

Note: I'm posting this after first sending it to the Monopol to allow them a chance for a fair response. They did not respond. We stayed in Monopol for 3 nights in late August 2024. The hotel is convenient to the train station. The room was OK until at 11:00 our first night we noticed a water leak dripping down from the ceiling...into my open luggage. Since there was NO PHONE is our room, I had to walk down to the front desk, and found no one there. A sign directed me to call (#61?), but no one answered. Went back up to the room and tried to clean up the mess. Went down to the a 2nd time...still no one there and no one answering the phone. 10 mins later we went down a THIRD time and finally found a clerk and another employee. Their solution was to offer us another room for the night only....we would not be moved into it since it was promised to another guest the next night. We opted to stay in our room so as to not have to move all our things for a just a few hours. The next day the front desk manager (Paul?) told us he fixed the leak. The next night the leak began again, this time by the bathroom door. It soaked the carpet and forced us to jump over the the soggy carpet to get into our bathroom. We informed the front desk, and the manager assured us it would be fixed, and said issues like this happen...”It's an old hotel” he said. He apologized for our inconvenience. There was no attempt to compensate us for the unsatisfactory room beyond an offer to give us a free breakfast the next morning, something we had already paid for. A staffer offered to throw my wet clothes in the dryer, but not to wash them from the funky water that dripped onto them. We got a meek ”We're sorry” when we checked out. We understand that an issue like this can affect any single night in any hotel. However, when the problem goes to a SECOND night, after we were promised it was fixed, then the lack of resolution is unacceptable. Our room was clearly not up to full price standards, and yet the Monopol was willing to charge us that much, and offer only a ”we're sorry” as a management response.

I don't know why I can't book a lake view room on Ctrip. Most of the reviews I saw from Ctrip tourists are about staying in a city view room. Later, a friend who does travel told me that rooms booked through third-party platforms are definitely not as good as rooms booked through the hotel's official website. We can check the room on Ctrip and then go to the hotel's official website to book a room, and we will get a relatively good room. The biggest advantage of this hotel is that it is by the lake, close to the attractions, within walking distance, very convenient for cruise ships and trains, and the breakfast is also good. The only problem is that the city view room is too small, and two large suitcases can't fit in. There are many free drinks in the small bar in the room, as well as chocolate, dried fruits, and snacks for free. The service is very good!

Large stately hotel. the hotel also has residences which means less hotel guests and traffic (in a good way). i generally look for hotels with pools and saunas attached and the pool area has was beautiful was outdoor patio with view of alps and lakes. Lockers, robes and slippers provided. i had room #205 which had peekaboo view of lake and mainly a rooftop, I suspect City View rooms would be noisy with busy road in front. book lake view if possible. the front staff was lovely and very helpful. They were very accommodating in trying to sort out my room. I could have been made to move after the 1st night but to their credit - saw it was easier to keep me in the same room. restaurant and bar with outdoor seating looking out towards lake and promenade. Heavenly!

Very nice hotel just across the street from the Vierwaldstatter see(Lake Lucerne) Pros: Great staff easy check in Great views from lake facing rooms, easy parking. Ok value for the area, comfortable bed. Cons: There was construction going on at the time of our stay. The rooms have no A//C, not a deal breaker but the room was sealed up tight and that first blast of stifling heat when we opened the door was unexpected. But they do give have a large fan unfortunately the cord would not allow the fan to be placed in the terrace door to help cool off the room. The breakfast buffet selection was plentiful but the cooked foods were merely OK at best.

If you are looking for a chic, wonderful, brilliant, inspired stay, this is where you will find it. Located by the lake with beautiful views of the Alps, there is no shortage of surprises. It may be a bit far from the central Lucerne walking distance, but it is easy to take bus 24 to the ‘Hermitage’ station. The hotel staff is very friendly and approachable. The room is chic. For afternoon tea, There is a bar with great views. The hotel provided us with a delicious dinner! We will stay here again and again. This was the best stop for our honeymoon and we never stopped talking about it!

LLa_MimiThe hotel is very nice and the rooms are well equipped. Everything is there, also slippers and L'occitane products. The view of the city - if you have a good room - is wonderful. Ah, and the room is very clean !
On the negative side, the bed was uneven, maybe because it was used too much, so sleeping was a bit uncomfortable. Then, the rooms are not so spacious.
For one or two nights, I fully recommend coming here.
I will rather go to a more modern hotel next time because of the uneven mattress.
PPENGThe pictures are all views from the window. See the beautiful scenery of Lake Lucerne. Because it is this, we evaluate 5 stars. The hotel is 4 stars in size and has the same facilities as the domestic express hotel. The room is quite large in Switzerland. The balcony is very nice to see the lake. It takes 8 or 9 minutes to get to the lake. There are more places to eat around, and the bus is still close. Go to the hotel to take the little cable car. The breakfast variety is too small, 30 Swiss francs a person, it is really cheaper, it is the simplest breakfast in the entire Swiss itinerary. The breakfast restaurant can see the lake, it is still good. The overall layout of the hotel is very good, people like it very much, the hotel service is also very good. Specifically, the hotel has a shuttle bus, saying that it can only be sent to the bus station from the hotel, and then take the bus to the train station. The driver actually sent us directly to the train station that day, touching. Lucerne is not big, the hotel location is OK, and it is convenient to go anywhere.
GGuest UserWe stayed for two nights during our honeymoon trip and this was one of the most enjoyable hotels we stayed at in Switzerland. The location is perfect, quiet quaint street in walking distance to everything you want to see in downtown Lucerne. We had the top floor room which had a wonderful rooftop balcony with a great view of Lucern. The bed was comfortable, the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating and the breakfast spread was wonderful. We loved to sit by the window at breakfast and enjoy the view and there was hardly anyone there when breakfast started. The only hiccup was that the steam from a hot shower apparently set the fire alarms for the entire hotel off two mornings in a row. The second morning we were extra careful to circulate air and turn the heat down but it still happened. The staff seemed surprised so they will probably address this. One suggestion would be to have an electric kettle and mugs for tea/instant coffee/cocoa in the room or at least available upon request.
An excellent opportunity to let your hair down. The place has a beautiful view. There are hiking trails to several places including Mount Pilatus in the neighbourhood. Loved the breakfast. It was par extraordinare! A must do offbeat location despite being a little far from Lucerne
GGuest UserAll was correct in general but compared to other places of the same kind, this means that it arrives max. 21 h and departure max. 10 a.m. in the morning I feel very restricted when you are on the journey ... Very good place and very beautiful parking which unfortunately is charged $15.
Be prepared at check in, as you may need your mobile keycard to access the main door and the self check-in kiosk. We also had trouble with the main door, which sticks quite a lot; you really have to pull it hard to get it open once you tap your key. Feels like you’re going to break it. We discovered the side entrance, which is much easier and convenient to the lift. While the lift was very small, we never had to wait that long to use it. Which was nice, since the building is actually quite big. As often is the case in Switzerland, the AC is not true AC. It’s more of a fan that ostensibly moves cool air into the room. So it did get a bit hot during our July stay.
RRojin JThe Staff was very friendly, one of them was Kevin (I Think), and also two other ladies also on the desk was very helpful in guiding us regarding our travel. We stayed for 3 days and the whole concept of the Hotel was different. We had an infant with us and wanted to change the room we were allotted and they readily agreed and luckily they had one bigger room with king size bed to accommodate them. The breakfast was regular and most importantly the staff being very nice and helpful, which has made an impression on us as this was the first time we traveled to this city. For the amount you pay for this Hotel in Lucerne, it's certainly very cheap for the services you get. It's based on a Theme so most of the rooms have bunker beds so even children would love it. Not much space inside the room or shelves to keep stuff. But then its a budget Hotel. Would stay again if I visit this city again. Its 8 minutes walk from the Station.
GGuest UserService: Super good. Since it is a long way down the stairs, there is a bell to inform customers to ring the bell and the hotel staff will help carry the luggage and send customers to the room to guide them to check in!
Environment: Overlooking the view of Lake Lucerne
Facilities: The bed and pillows in the room are very comfortable and soft
We stayed at Galaxy Apartment - or I should say one of the Galaxy apartments for a couple of days. With three people, the falt was a little bit packed to be honest. The bathroom is very small. One of the things which disturbed me the most was the noise at night. People seem to come and go whenever they like and make a lot of noise (scream/shout) in the stairway. I don't like to be woken up at 2am during my vacation. While having TV is not that important, let's note that it was totally impossible to watch any program for more than 5 minutes, because the connection would break down. Additionally, the recent heatwave makes the flat quite hot and stuffy. We had to leave windows open during the night. That was probably for the best because trying to close the shutters was yielding such a noise. I thought they would break. Fortunately, the street was very quiet. Finally, they should provide more information regarding the parking. I think this is quite the minimum. We were really struggling to understand how to get the daily ticket.
WWorldtraveller62780Please consider all reviews from previous guests before booking this hotel. If there’s a -1 rating I would give it to this one. Hotels like this should just shut down and not be in this business. Bring your rude staff with you too. This is the worst hotel in the world! Upon arrival you would feel that you made the wrong decision. The hotel smelled so dirty and old. Who knows when was the last time they cleaned it. The people working there does not have a clue what they’re doing. They can’t find my reservation so they have to call the manager to find it. Bad customer service. I’ve had a couple of bad customer service experience but nothing compared to this one. The manager was VERY VERY RUDE!!! Every time you ask her help, her response is “I don’t know!!” like she doesn’t work there. She was not willing to help people who paid decent money to stay at this horrible place. The hotel amenities were horrible too but not as bad as the customer service. We stayed in the building not connected to their check-in lobby. The building was a place that filmmakers would use to create horror movies. The lobby at this building has no steady light. It was on a timer and would turn off after 5 mins. So when you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the shared bathrooms, you would find yourself unsafe to pass by the lobby since there were no lights. They have a washer and dryer which is great but no English instructions. When you call the receptionist for assistance, she would response in a discourteous way. Nobody in this hotel wants to help you. What they do is to take your money and leave you hanging. Please don’t ruin your trip to the beautiful country of Switzerland by staying at this awful place.
