I enjoyed my stay at Cumberland. There’s very little to dislike– the room was lacking a certain level of coziness that you might expect from a more modern hotel, however this is a result of the “old-world” charm of this classic hotel. The room was spacious and provided a lot of natural light as it had a big window to the garden. The window could also be opened to allow for fresh air. The bathroom was clean, and provided good shower pressure and comfortably hot water.
Aside from the room, the services and spaces were very good. There was alway someone available to help at the touch of a button– and they were very generous and helpful. The hotel design and common space were very charming! The style of the hotel lended to the overall ambiance of being in an old city like Edinburgh. The hotel spaces were large and numerous, which includes a lounge, bar, dining area and outdoor patios.
Finally the location was very good. I like that the hotel was removed from the city noise and crowds, but very close to all amenities, restaurants, transit. I was delighted by the nearby neighborhoods and finding cafes, shops and more. Special mention for Coats Café which was a lovely establishment with good food, pastries and coffee.
Thank you Cumberland for your service and hard work!
