The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas

Dallas City Center Dallas|1.5km from Freedman's Cemetery Memorial
I love this hotel so much and always enjoy my stays here! From the moment I stepped out of my car until I stepped back in, the staff made me feel like a Ritz Carlton should make one feel pampered and cared for! The little touches, such as the guacamologist in the lobby to the world's best shot of margarita this side of the Pecos, you are transported when you enter the lobby and acknowledged by your name by everyone, as it should be. My luggage and the valet were waiting at my door when I stepped off the elevator, and my Titanium status had earned me an upgrade to a fabulous Junior Suite. On the table in the living area was a welcome note with my handwritten name on it and a box of artisan truffles to enjoy as I settled in. This was the evening of an unfortunate power outage in the hotel, but the staff did not miss a beat. The generators kicked on to keep the common areas lit, and an elevator worked for guest use, so we weren't stuck in our rooms. The Ritz Carlton Club was still operational, and the staff laid out beautiful dinner and dessert buffets by lantern light. It was almost a shame that the lights did come back on just over an hour later; it had been that enjoyable. My mobile key wouldn't open the gym door the following day, so I called downstairs as the app prompted me to ask if it could be reset remotely. The desk clerk said not to worry, she would come to me and was there with a new key within two minutes! The gym was excellent, with so many machines and spaces for everything, including a semi-private area for yoga/pilates. Breakfast was great; I especially loved the fresh-pressed juice options. I had mentioned my love of the oatmeal at check-in, and the next day, the chef emailed me the recipe! I wish all Ritz Carltons offered this level of service and excellence, but until they do, I'll continue to proclaim the Dallas location as the best in the country!

Checked in on Friday 6/3 for a wedding and checked out Sunday 6/5. The lobby, bar, and banquet rooms were all very nice. Hotel staff was very friendly, cordial, and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Pool was great! Service at the wedding was top notch. The shower was severely lacking in water pressure, to the point where I felt like I was in a public gym, but I had no issue overlooking this. However, my overall very positive experience was greatly reduced with all 3 of my interactions with the onsite Valet. First encounter: Checking in, the wait for valet service was 25 min. Would have parked myself but there was no clear instructions on how to do so. Valet attendants showed no hustle (a lot of confusion, standing around, yelling, overall chaos) and then I even witnessed an attendant driving a $100K BMW bump into a parked pick up. This left me very unsettled leaving my car in their care. Nevertheless I did. 2) I called to have my car brought around Sat morning so I could retrieve an item I had left in the car. Attendant was somewhat rude and dismissive on the phone as well as in person. 3) After checking out, the valet process was, once again, pure chaos. I understand this is somewhat to be expected at 11AM on a Sunday. But again, there seemed to be no organization, no system, and just general disfunction with little care for the guest experience. Then, I witnessed an enraged guest screaming profanities because his car had been badly damaged while in the care of the valet service. There was easily $1,000 worth of body damage to his car. Finally after 30 min of waiting, my car was retrieved. No remorse or apology for the wait or overall experience. In general, very nice hotel and stay that was severely diminished by the valet experience. Bottom line, if you're going to force driving guests to pay $36 per night for a valet service, it needs to be far more efficient, friendly, and people need to feel comfortable leaving their vehicles.

The first thing I will say is ”SHAME ON HILTON!” if they run a staff with so few people. We were there Fri-Sun. There was ONE valet the entire time who worked open to close. He really was one of the best things about the entire hotel experience and worked his butt off! Seriously, the guy has a way of making you smile. The front desk clerk, Estafania, (there were only 2 the entire weekend) was crazy sweet and helpful! The wonderfully great lady at the entrance bar makes amazing drink. THIS IS WHERE THE GOOD ENDS. THIS WAS NOT A $400/NIGHT ROOM! The carpet in the room was gross and stained. The toilet wouldn't flush unless flushed multiple times. When maintenance came, they basically told us to stand and hold the plunger down longer or ”flush twice if you need to”. The TV was a pain and would randomly go back to the menu. The radio never worked correctly and wouldn't stay on and it was the ONLY way in the room to listen to music. There was an area where the clothes hung that had a ”chiller” built in to a cabinet. The thing hummed loudly most of the time. ”BUT! THERE'S A TERRACE!” you say. The chairs were so gross and frayed, we never actually got brave enough to sit in them. Perhaps some of these things are normal in Texas, but we asked for late checkout. Anything beyond 1 hr and it was another $50 to a half day's charge. They promote the ”rooftop bar” but what they forget to tell you is that it's open to the general public. You're not going to find a seat there unless you get there early! We were ”given” a sad little bag of two generic waters as a ”check-in gift”. Valet is $35 a day but after seeing stores CHARGE A VALET just to shop at them, I guess it's not too bad. They hold a $50 a day charge ”in case”. No included breakfast - that will cost you another $15. I had expected nicely decorated and great beds, especially for the price of the room. It had been 12 yrs since I'd had a real vacation. I expected better for the cost.

I just had an overnight staycation at the Warwick Melrose hotel and it was absolutely wonderful! I highly recommend joining The Journey Club to secure the best rates for this hotel and also earn points. Everyone at the hotel was extremely attentive and friendly providing an excellent guest experience. The hotel has beautiful old world charm décor yet full of modern amenities. We had a fabulous experience at the LeSpa and highly recommend the hot stone massage. We spent the afternoon at the pool which was relaxing and very enjoyable with lots of shade options available to hide from the Texas heat if you need. Angela in the Library Bar was fantastic and we had a very delicious Beef Tenderloin for dinner. Our room was beautiful, large bathroom, dressing room, electronic plugs for laptops and fantastic lighting. Beds and pillows were luxurious and comfy. I can't say enough wonderful things about this gem of a hotel. Andrew Wright the General Manager has done an amazing job maintaining 5 star service across all departments.

I thoroughly enjoy my stay when at the Marriott downtown. I would wish the valet parking service could be swifter as I had to wait about 20 minutes for my car to arrive even after calling for it to be pulled before checking out of the hotel. Other than this, my stay was as good as it has been in the past

Home2 Suites by Hilton Dallas Downtown at Baylor Scott & White

Stayed here for a couple nights recently. The room was large and clean. The shower worked fine. The refrigerator was huge and there were plenty of dishes to use hiding in the dishwasher. I must agree with another reviewer that the breakfast was not great; it was average. Our only complaint is that it is a noisy hotel. That is to be expected near a hospital, but there was a great many additional noises besides the ambulances and it was these that woke us up or kept us up at night. The windows and door seemed to channel sound into the room. The staff was extremely helpful. The dude at the front desk last Saturday was extremely helpful and welcoming.
