|2.06km from downtownThe hotel location is very convenient and there are many good restaurants nearby. We suffered from serious flight delay when arriving but the hotel reception was very helpful and replied us by email that we could check-in even after midnight. They provided ucc drip coffee and other amenities like tooth brushes, bath towel, cotton sticks, etc. and there are 7-11, family mart, Lawson, etc nearby. It’s in a walking distance to Japan Bridge so we can walk to the department stores there. Overall speaking, it’s a very convenient and tidy hotel with helpful and polite staff, all speaking fluent English.

Shinjuku/Nakano
Tokyo
|7.2km from downtownIt only takes 10 minutes from the B&B to Shinjuku in Wang District, which is a good choice! Our family of 5 people (2 large and 3 small), the room was very clean, as the photo introduced on Trip.com; There is a large room with 2 double beds and the other room with a double bed, which is just enough to sleep in the larger room than 3 children. The homestay provides toothbrushes, shaving cream, shower gel, shampoo, moisturizer and basic tea bags and coffee. And the same good thing is that he can cook there, and I will book this one next time! Also make a Shabu Shabu!

Hachioji
|2.74km from downtownGreat location, great hotel, and wonderful service! Family of four, we booked a double and it was a nice room with two double beds. Although a bit small, it was fine for us and we were happy to have a microwave, etc that made it feel homey. The hotel was quiet, the a/c good, and the water pressure strong. The location is perfect, just a few minutes away from the Hachioji Eki and all the various conveniences there. Staff was very nice, check-in was smooth and quick, and check-out was as simple as dropping off our card key. We mistakenly left a pair of pajamas in the room and the wonderful staff was able to locate it and send it to us, already in another prefecture, the next day. Thank you so much!! This kindness will not be forgotten and we would love to return to this hotel the next time we visit the area.

|2.98km from downtownFirst so travel experience, and this was honestly quite good. The bathrooms were clean (aside from some hair here and there, but it’s a women’s hostel what do you expect) and cleaned daily, and the Wi-Fi was very fast. Got super dark in each pod which was perfect, and even in the summer, it wasn’t too hot (despite it saying there’s no AC there are some small units that keep the area a good temperature). I wish check in hours were a little more flexible especially considering that there’s no staff there anyway? But overall really good (close to many subway lines) and I would stay again for sure!!

|1.13km from downtownHotel is close to Tokyo station, just opp from the JR entrance. If you wish to walk from underground street, come up from exit 21 via stairs. Overall very nice experience at the hotel, room size is consider big, as we are able to open 2 big luggages side by side & there is still sufficient walking space. There is a welcome drink & some foot patch & kose skincare samples. Room is very sound proof, unable to hear the music played at the corridor. Hotel does provide early check in with a fee of 2000 yen per hour.

Immediately walked us to nearby convenience store, even warmed t store’s meal for us as we were hungry. Staff Du Zi Yang also very polite. Very clean. Spacious by Jap standard. Separate bathroom n toilet.
Very convenient, convenience store, minimart stone’s throw away. Short walking distance to eateries, restaurants, shopping malls eg Sunshine city. Hotel very near Ikebukuro station easily accessible to other main districts / tourist attractions eg Shibuya, Ginza, Shinjuku.

|4.33km from downtownI ain't sure why a lot of people left a very bad comment regarding this property, the room size is quite big compared with JP standard (we got room at 6 floor with 2 beds (5ft size) for 2 person) the location is good (a walking distance to Kuramae station 200-350m (for Toei Asakura & Oedo line), surrounded with good restaurants such as Ramen, Tonkatsu (authentic one open since 1977), origin Japan (ready to eat JP meals & side dishes), etc. including a good Patisserie shops, a convenience stores (Lawson, Family mart, 7-11, local supermarket). Yes they have a rule regarding towels (1/ea/2 nights) & cleaning services (not on daily basis but if you want you can ask them to do), the guy at the receptionist may not always smile but if you asked something he's always respond & support, they have a common area (2nd floor) which there is kitchen, kitchen utensils, microwave, coffee machine, dining table, couches and air conditioning (and they are allowed us to use with free of charge) personally my friend & I would booked this hotel if we visit Tokyo next time.

Tokyo
|4.66km from downtownThe room is quite big, and the sofa bed can accommodate four people. It is suitable for a family of three to travel here, because many hotels in Japan have a limit on the number of people, and three people have to book two rooms. It is more suitable to book this apartment. It is not far from the subway station Kuramae Station and Asakusa Station. It is right by the Sumida River. It is very convenient to see the night view of the Sky Tree and go to Sensoji Temple. There are not many restaurants around, but the subway can reach many business districts, which is not a big flaw. The noise is not loud, and it is quiet to stay!

Tokyo
|7.42km from downtownIt was good that rich, convenience stores and McDonald's from the station were nearby, but the unit bus was too narrow. The door didn't close tightly, so the air conditioner came in, and the shower curtain caught on my body while taking a bath, which made me feel uncomfortable. If you are a tall person, you can't take a shower unless you bow. The toilet was impossible unless I opened the door. I'm sorry that the customer service was good.

|3.58km from downtownAccess to the hotel is convenient as it is close to the nearest station. There is a laundry next to the entrance on the first floor.
I booked a mixed dormitory, and the bed was on a bunk. It didn't feel wobbly and I didn't hear any noise from each other every time I turned over. Since it's a dormitory, I was concerned about the sounds of people touching my luggage until late at night...but I think it's a matter of manners. The kitchen in the shared space is also clean and there are free tea bags and instant coffee☕️. You can also boil water for cooking yourself. The shower and makeup room are separate and easy to use. If you have experience in overseas youth hostels, you will find that there are separate hostels for men and women, but if you don't mind the comfortable and low prices, the prices are attractive.

Tokyo
|2.7km from downtownOverall it was a very satisfying stay!
I would highly recommend it if you want to reduce travel expenses but don't want to give up cleanliness and convenience and don't bother using shared showers and toilets~
Rooms, shared showers and toilets are all clean and friendly staff.
In the case of a double room, the washbasin was attached to the room and the towel was changed every day when requested.
After leaving the room, you can leave the suitcase, and you can rent fixtures such as adapters and humidifiers.
There are convenience stores such as Lawson and 7-Eleven nearby, so it's good to buy snacks on the earshot.
The downside is that there are not many late bars nearby.

Tokyo
|4.31km from downtownDormy Inn Ueno Tokyo – A Small but Well-Equipped Stay
During my recent stay at Dormy Inn Ueno Tokyo, I found it to be a compact yet highly convenient hotel, especially for travelers who prioritize location and practical amenities over excessive space. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it does a great job of providing a comfortable stay with thoughtful touches.
Location – Perfect for Travelers
One of the best things about this hotel is its location. Just a short walk from Ueno Station, it offers easy access to the JR Yamanote Line, the Keisei Skyliner (for Narita Airport), and multiple metro lines, making it an excellent choice for those who plan to explore different parts of Tokyo. Additionally, the Ameya-Yokocho (Ameyoko) Market is just around the corner, where you’ll find everything from fresh seafood and street food to clothing and souvenirs. It’s a lively area that adds to the appeal of staying in Ueno.
Room & Facilities – Compact but Functional
As expected, the rooms are small, which is pretty standard in Tokyo, but they are well-designed with everything you need. The bed was comfortable, and the room included basic amenities like a TV, a small desk, and a fridge. Storage space is limited, but for a short stay, it was manageable. The bathroom was also compact, though the onsen (public bath) on-site makes up for it.
Onsen – A Small but Relaxing Bath
One of the highlights of staying at Dormy Inn hotels is their public bath (onsen), and this location has one, albeit on the smaller side. It’s not the biggest or most luxurious onsen, but it’s a nice way to unwind after a long day of walking around Tokyo. The water temperature was just right, and while the space was limited, it wasn’t overly crowded when I visited.
Freebies & Unique Perks
Dormy Inn is known for offering small but unique perks to its guests. This location provides free popsicles and yogurt drinks, which is a nice touch. However, they are only available during specific hours, so if you’re out sightseeing all day, you might miss out on them. They also supposedly offer free late-night soba, a Dormy Inn signature, but I never actually saw it happen and didn’t feel like asking about it. Maybe I just missed the time window. Free manga reading
Housekeeping – No Room Cleaning, Just Fresh Towels
One thing to note is that Dormy Inn follows a no-daily-cleaning policy. Instead of a full room service, they simply drop off fresh towels outside your door. This is fine if you’re staying just a few days, but if you prefer daily room cleaning, you might find it lacking.
Staff & Service
The staff at check-in were friendly and efficient, which I appreciated. They handled everything quickly and provided all the necessary information without any issues. While I didn’t interact with them much after check-in, the overall service felt professional and welcoming.
Final Thoughts – A Solid Stay for Practical Travelers
Overall, Dormy Inn Ueno Tokyo is a great choice if you’re looking for a convenient, budget-friendly, and functional stay in Tokyo. The location is excellent, the onsen is a nice touch, and the small perks like free drinks and late-night snacks add to the experience. Just keep in mind that the rooms are small, there’s no daily cleaning, and some of the free amenities have limited availability. If you’re okay with that, it’s a great place to stay in Ueno!

|2.91km from downtownThis hotel was in a nice and quiet location, within a 10 minute walk to 3 metro stops, including the Asakusa line which is a direct line to both airports. It was also close to Nakamise st, Akihabara, and Tsukiji outer market (by metro). There are also several convenience stores within 5-10 minutes walk as well, if you're wanting something quick or snacks for the room. The room was big and comfortable, the bathroom was big with a nice shower. The free breakfast was unexpected and quite nice, suitable for vegetarians. Would definitely stay here again.

|1.36km from downtownOverall stay is okay if you don’t expect much. However the makeup room service policy is very confusing especially when you asked the cleaner if there’s a makeup room service today. Her answer is always NO! Just change towels and rubbish bags. We had to always call reception to ask and only 2 makeup room services( change bedsheets only) in our 8nights stay. Dirty sinks and dusty room when we finally checked out.
Plus points- nearby a few train lines and the microwave oven in the room.
Pictures are taken when we checkin.

|5.46km from downtownI loved the beds! I stayed in the shared women's dormitory and the beds are much larger than they appear in pictures, with enough space to accommodate a lot of stuff. They provide great privacy for when you need to get away, considering it might be hard to get work done in the common room as this is one of the more ”social” hostels. Movie nights, games nights, and many more activities organized during my stay. Great for solo travelers wishing to socialize. I also saw some families staying.
Overall, a great experience. I can't wait for my next visit!

Back alley of the hotel is kind of shady with night clubs and day use hotels....Ironically, the hotel is next to a church. There are a few eatries on the same row as thr le hotel and 2 convenience stores.
Rooms were tiny, as are most of Tokyo hotels.
breakfast was some donuts, bread and dried fruit....
Free alcohol fr 5 to 8.
Nice boutique hotel.
One of the main reasons we chose to stay here was they have a 3 bed room configuration.

|8.91km from downtownIt's a little far from the downtown area, so you have to change from Nakano Fujimicho Station to Taya Shibuya Ginza Tokyo Station two or three times, but it was quiet and there was a pretty Gaecheon-gil in front of the station, so it was nice to take a walk.
The hostel was spacious and clean, but the bathroom was narrow and it was too cold at night to be in February with one air conditioner ㅜㅜ
Convenience stores, moss burgers, bakery (really delicious) are crowded around the station, so you have to walk for about 5 minutes.
I am willing to visit again in the season, not in winter ^^
