Ibis Styles Batam Nagoya

I visit Batam almost every week and this is my favorite hotel! Since July 22, I estimate I have stayed 40-50 nights in the past 11 months. On paper, this is a 3 star hotel. But the rooms and facilities feel like 4 stars, and the staff is 5 stars. A big Thank You! to all the staff who made my stay enjoyable. To Mugi, and the rest of the Reception staff, thank you for always being cheerful and helpful. Thank you the restaurant staff who are always helpful, even in the face of my unusual requests. And to the always smiling lady who collects laundry who makes always takes that extra step in effort and service. What is great: The rooms are largish and clean. The decor is bright and cheery. The bed, pillows and bolsters are the best in Batam. I get the best night's sleep here! The shower has good pressure and the water is nice and hot. And again, the staff is FANTASTIC! What is no so great: The breakfast is average. The WiFi has improved and is fast but sometimes there are outages. But this may be more of a Batam thing than a Hotel thing. What you may think is bad but is not really: The location. There are no shopping centers or shops nearby that you can easily walk to. But the location is actually pretty ok. Because it is near Nagoya, you can usually get a Grab in less than 5 minutes. And Grab is pretty affordable in Batam. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Harbour Bay and 15 minutes from Batam Center. It is 10 minutes from Nagoya hill and 15 minutes from Grand Batam. Plus, the hotel sits on a hill. From the top floor bistro, you can see the sea (and Singapore) 270 degrees around! Thank Ibis Styles Nagoya Batam!

My main complaint of this hotel is that there is a ”Private KTV (Level 4)” and this is served by two lobby. At the lift lobby (which has 5 lifts), out of which only 2 serves Level 4 which is literally named ”Private KTV (Level 4)”, so definitely not all guests would know of this hidden floor. Very seedy :| Next morning at the the hotel breakfast restaurant, there were a lot of ”suspicious characters”... the kind of guys you'd expect to patronise a KTV, with young pretty girls (probably ******* or hostesses) around their arms, which made the breakfast environment very uncomfortable. The food was subpar anyway, bland, tasteless and overall poor (although the food isn't the main issue). Truly don't think the hotel is family-friendly with the presence of a ”Private KTV”. I guess you get what you pay for, cheap hotel with cheap visitors. Otherwise, here's what's good about the hotel. Location was nearer to Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal (10-15 mins drive), and Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall (5-10 mins drive), though there's not much in the area, not even an Indomaret convenience shop. Rooms has wooden fixture which gives it a ”rustic charm” feel. Aircon is fine, the lobby is grand and alright. Service is alright I guess, nothing too outstanding, and not that bad either. Will probably only return to this hotel if I know the ”Private KTV” has been closed for good.

Its a good hotel, near a lot of foodcourt or cafe, at night so many food stall open. Infront of the hotel got gokart place to play. On the left and right side hotel got place to eat. Receptionist is good, but they only gave one key card to access the room, so if you want to left the room with charger device inside, you have to leave the key inside the room and have to ask receptionist open for you. Not efficient way because i had to que up to 4 people only for asking to open my room 🫠🫠 PLEASE CHECK THE ROOM CAREFULLY, the cleaning service not washing the glass properly, ive been leaving the room for being clean and come back later, want to use the glass, i saw the coffe mark from my morning coffe is not being wash, only throw the water a bit, and the glass is still sticky, then they put it on ready to use position. I have to ask for a mat towell, tooth brush, and toilet paper refill and ask them to mop the room floor again because when i comeback, its not being mopped. When i ask, they said the room was already being clean 😒 Cleaning Service only make up your bed. Nothing else. 🫠

The rooms in this hotel appear to be slightly run down, although for the price that one has to pay for it, it's quite value for money. The beds and toilets (bathtub too!) are relatively clean, if you can look past the peeling walls and ceiling, it really is a good hotel with nice amenities. The hotel is situated in a convenient location, and the hotel even provides shuttle services to tourist spots in Batam. The breakfast isn't spectacular and personally I think it's quite plain. I would much rather choose to eat outside.

There is no smell in the hotel house, but the toilet will be blocked and the drainage system is not good. It is quite convenient to eat around. There are a lot of food downstairs. The price is quite cheap. It is better to bring your own toiletries. No

Dive into Batam

Batam, part of the Riau Islands Province of Indonesia, is a bustling island city known for its free trade zone status. Located a hop away from Singapore and Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Batam is a popular destination for travellers seeking leisure and relaxation amidst its sandy beaches, world-class golf courses, and vibrant shopping scene. Interestingly, Batam is one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in Indonesia due to its modern amenities and proximity to international hubs.

Essential Batam Travel Tips

Hang Nadim International Airport is the main gateway to Batam, offering extensive connections throughout Indonesia. For international travellers, especially those from Singapore, frequent ferry services operate between Batam and the city-state.

The official currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), and while credit cards are accepted in many places, it's always wise to carry some cash for local markets and eateries. Bahasa Indonesia is the official language, but English is also widely understood.

For visa requirements, it is best to check with the Indonesian embassy in your country. Nationals of many countries can enter Indonesia visa-free for tourism purposes for up to 30 days.

It's important to respect local customs and traditions. Batam, like much of Indonesia, is predominantly Muslim, so modest dress is advised, especially when visiting religious sites.

Batam's Must-Visit Attractions

Indulge in the serene coastal vibe at Nongsa Beach and enjoy an unforgettable round of golf at the Padang Golf Sukajadi. Explore the Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple, one of Southeast Asia's largest Buddhist temples. For a unique cultural experience, don't miss the vibrant coastal village of Kampung Vietnam.

Understanding Batam's Weather

Batam has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 23°C to 31°C throughout the year. Rainfall can be expected in all months but is heaviest from November to January. The best time to visit is between February and October. Lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended, along with a light raincoat or umbrella.

Selecting the Ideal Hotel in Batam

Food enthusiasts may want to stay in Nagoya, the city's food hub, where the Nagoya Mansion Hotel provides comfortable accommodations.

For proximity to ferry terminals, consider staying at the Harbour Bay Amir Hotel. If luxury is your preference, the Radisson Golf & Convention Center won't disappoint.
