Mere Sea View Resort & Spa Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida Bali|1.36km from Flying Fox Nusa Penida
We stayed at the Mere Sea View Resort the last couple of days and would like to share our experiences with you. When we arrived, we first checked out the view from the balcony which was just breathtaking. The surroundings of the hotel are covered in lush green nature. It is always so quiet, which makes it perfect to relax and recover from the busy city life. You can oversee the island and even see the ocean from the pool area. The location and view are just stunning! Also, the rooms have a beautiful interior design and are very comfortable. We felt like at home while staying there. Unfortunately our experience on beautiful Nusa Penida got clouded by some inconveniences at the hotel. The staff is only helpful to a certain extend, sometimes it seemed like they were not even trying to help out.. also communicating with them was very hard and it always took them quite a while to understand the easiest questions or the smallest request. Sometimes even google translator was required to figure things out. For the customer service at Mere Sea View we can definitely see improvement. When we arrived the soap and the toilet paper was almost used up and we always had to ask for new toilet paper and room service where to add that we did not even get fresh towels during our stay. In other areas there could be some improvement as well: We experienced two power outages during our 4 nights stay. One of them only lasted for a short while which was manageable for us but the other one lasted longer and happened in the evening. Sitting in the dark with no AC, no wifi and not being able to take a shower after a hot long day was annoying. There was also never an apology given by the staff when we asked about the electricity…they only gave us justifications. Despite that the hotel just opened a few months ago and there was already mold on the wall in the living area from the shower in the bathroom. Although the location of the hotel is insanely beautiful it makes it hard leaving it as well. To travel around the island or go to the closest city to go out for food is very complicated since the local taxis are quite expensive. Walking somewhere is also nearly impossible because of the long distances and it’s also dangerous because of the bad roads and the traffic. We wished someone would have informed us about that in advance. Going along with this we would like to mention that the food offered in the hotel is comparable expensive and the portions leave feel you hungry again after a short time, but the guests kind of rely on it because of the location of the hotel. To which must be added that the hotel doesn’t offer a lot of vegetarian dishes in their menu. Furthermore we ordered twice a dish without the meat and received it with meat. Moreover the wifi just never worked properly. It was very, very slow and during certain times it even took ages to send a simple email. We would not recommend this place for digital nomads, who work remotely and depend on strong wifi

The place is magnificent, and away from tourists. The hotel is very well run by a friendly family. The catering is done at the last minute and is very good. Just one downside: the accommodations are poorly sound-insulated, as is often the case in Bali. The best value for money of the 7 accommodations I have had in Bali.

A dream in the middle of the jungle! Only green and quiet around ....and when the pool lamps go out, an incredible sky opens up - best from the bathtub in the open bathroom! Romantically, it is not possible! Also the location is super, between the two boat facilities in Toyapakeh and Sampalan is 2 km down the mountain. Highlights super well reachable. Had not like to exchange with a resort at the sea - most are located on the very busy coastal road. The 7 bungalows are high quality and very tastefully equipped, air conditioning extremely quiet, breakfast rich and a la carte selectable. And the staff very friendly and attentive! I will come back

The hotel is OK, although there is still a little distance from the beach. But there is an open-air swimming pool, it is great to play in the water. The hotel also helps with booking snorkeling and chartered trips.

More about Bali

Introduction to Bali

Bali, an Indonesian island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, and stunning beaches, is the country's most famous tourist destination. Filled with ancient temples, rich arts and crafts, and a vibrant nightlife, Bali offers a kaleidoscopic blend of natural beauty and cultural depth.

Tips for Travelling to Bali

Bali's main international gateway is Ngurah Rai International Airport, located near the capital city, Denpasar. Travelers can explore Bali through taxis, local buses, bicycles, motorbikes, or even hired cars.

The official currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Most hotels and restaurants accept credit cards, but having some cash on hand for local markets and smaller venues is recommended. Indonesian is the official language, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas.

As for visas, many nationalities can enter Indonesia visa-free for up to 30 days, but it's best to check before your journey.

Popular Attractions in Bali

Bali offers a wealth of cultural and natural attractions. Explore the ancient temples of Tanah Lot and Uluwatu, or immerse yourself in the artistic heritage of Ubud, Bali's cultural heart. Visit the Tegalalang Rice Terraces and the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary for unique experiences.

Bali's beaches are equally enticing, with Kuta Beach, Seminyak Beach, and Nusa Dua Beach offering vibrant beach life. Surfing enthusiasts will love the waves at Uluwatu and Canggu.

Weather, Best Time to Visit, and What to Wear

Bali enjoys a tropical climate with temperatures fairly consistent year-round. The best times to visit are during the dry season, from April to October. Bring lightweight, breathable clothing, a hat, and sunscreen to protect from the sun. Also, remember to dress modestly when visiting temples.

Choosing Your Ideal Hotel in Bali

For luxury beachfront accommodation, consider the Legian Bali or the W Bali in Seminyak. In Ubud, the Hanging Gardens of Bali offers a unique luxury experience with its Instagram-famous infinity pool.

For budget travelers, the Puri Garden Hotel and Hostel in Ubud offers comfort and excellent service. The Dash Hotel Seminyak, with its eclectic and colorful design, is an Instagram-worthy stay.
