Our stay at Ritz-Carlton Almaty was exceptional, in fact our fav part of the city as tourists. The best part was the warm service from the staff, in particular thanks to Yekaterina (Kate), Malika, and concierge lady. Kate was welcoming and
informative upon check in. Guest service staff Malika gave us attentive care throughout our stay and accommodated our preferences, which truly enhanced our experience in the country. Concierge lady gave us comprehensive advice on where to visit.
The view from both our room and the Sky Lounge was unparalleled. Snow-capped mountains framed the landscape, offering a mesmerizing backdrop that undoubtedly ranks among the best in Almaty.
Will definitely come back here if we’re back in the city.

What a disappointing hotel. The service was awful throughout. Whatever the question the answer was always NO! Check in time was 2:00pm. I arrived at noon and asked for an early check in. NO! The room was ready but unless I paid $50 they would not allow early check in. (A different clerk did eventually check me in early) The restaurant closed at 7:00pm for dinner and there was no nearby option. I got take out and just asked for silverware and an empty glass. NO, you may not take to room. Eventually I procured a single fork (still no glass allowed in room. “People steal them”). 30 min later, a knock on the door asking for the fork back! Bar was horribly stocked. Red wine? NO. White Wine? NO. Just beer Breakfast opened at 7am. I arrived at 6:50 and just asked if I could have a coffee while i waited. NO. They ran out of juice, asked for more….wait for it…NO. Power was off several times, once for 2+ hours. Windows don’t open so it became very stuffy. Room was not cleaned one day. I asked just for fresh towels. I had to bring my used ones down to the front desk, where they counted them to be replaced. I guess their guests steal towels too! On checkout I asked politely if I could speak to the manager. “No manager here”. That kinda sums up the whole stay. Many, many better options here and this should never be part of IHG with the terrible service

The breakfast was good, but not fantastic. The room was good and clean, there were some supplies in the toilette. Parks and places around the hotel are nice, and you can have a good walk around, if you wish. There were always noise (I'd assume cleaners did some work) quite early in the morning. Another issue is that the breakfast time in the morning is until 10am sharp, which is not convenient for people travelling from Europe for leisure. As I understood, there're no alternatives available. We asked a bottle of water and an additional blanked to the room, and it was challenging to get them. Particularly, with the bottle of water, as they refused to put the cost of it on the hotel room, but requested a cash payment. It was a surprise for us.

On a holiday in Kazakhstan for 15 days, my wife and I stayed at this hotel on 3 different occasions and have returned with mixed reactions - 1) 2 Nights on the first leg of our trip - Though the hotel and room looked a little rundown requiring refurbishment, it was a comfortable stay and service though, very stiff and formal, was acceptable. Breakfast - Very good; Communication - Poor due to most staff members being unable to communicate in English. 2) 1 Night on the second leg - Room very good. Service - Stiff but again acceptable. Breakfast again very good and communication poor. BUT the worst part was that the integrity of house keeping and reception staff was suspicious. While checking out after our first stay, my wife had left behind a set of clothes in the wardrobe. This came to realization, after reaching our next destination and I immediately called up the hotel and informed them. The lady assured that she would check and ring back, which she never did. When we checked-in around 5 days later, I was told that house-keeping had reported that nothing was left behind. My wife was firm and we asked to speak to a senior manager or the GM. It was then that we were asked to please wait for a recheck once again. One hour later, I received a call in my room, requesting me to collect the dress from the reception, without the courtesy of having it sent up to our room. 3) 1 Night on the last leg, before taking our flight back home. Room - Small and in very poor condition with walls having peeling wall paper and stains, Shower room, very small restricting mobility for me at 184cms height. I requested if the room could be changed but was answered with a curt - SORRY. OVERALL - This hotel definitely needs to upgrade it's service which is the FIRST ESSENTIAL in the hospitality business. A mechanical smile and words of welcome are not enough to convince a traveller to come back. If my bookings were not pre-confirmed, I would certainly not re-visit after our experience on the second time.

Excellent location of the hotel! Gorgeous view from the balcony day and night! Nightingales sing in the morning in April. The hall and entrance group are beautifully stylishly modern. The rooms are not great. A small area, old, but intact furniture, worn carpet, outdated tiles, old towels, with tatters. There is not a single shelf in the wardrobe - there is nowhere to put things, only 2 hangers. Bed linen is clean. There is a kettle, cups, tea and sugar. Water 0.5 is brought daily. Mini bar - I had the whole refrigerator, a colleague - empty. Upon request, I think they will bring. There are only 2 ironing rooms. On the 6th and 7th floors. On the 7th floor, the light is very dim - you stroke almost to the touch. For such a large hotel, it would seem that it is not enough. But for 7 days of stay - I did not stand in line at the ironing board. There are no gyms, saunas, swimming pools. And this is a big minus of the hotel. Breakfasts at the Zina restaurant are very varied and tasty. Kashi, cottage cheese are awesome. There are fresh vegetables, salads, tartlets, etc. There are also serious dishes: manti, meat, baked potatoes. The pastries are mostly delicious. But sometimes they serve pies, samsushki for three or four days. Already oak. Maybe they put them in for the appearance of a larger number. For a change, with frequent business trips, you can stay at this hotel once a year.

Our July 3-12, 2023, family stay at the Novotel Almaty City Center Hotel for our son and daughter-in-law’s Qyz Uzatu bride’s wedding was memorable and outstanding. The staff was accommodating beyond expectations. Examples of services and assistance furnished include: 1) gorgeous congratulatory bouquet of roses, cake, and bottle of champagne for bride and groom upon their arrival, 2) Front Desk Receptionist Elmira ordered, negotiated, and “babysat” multiple wedding flower bouquets the day of the bride’s wedding event, 3) Deputy General Manager Yevgeniy personally helped finalize five 10-day room reservations, following up multiple times ensuring our full satisfaction, then emailing us a farewell and thank you note for our stay, 4) Front Desk Manager Altyn happily assisted with various requests, 5) entire staff was cooperative, positive, and professional, and 6) hotel restaurant’s breakfast buffets were delicious, and lunches were quite satisfying, too. Additionally, the hotel location was fantastic b/c: it’s adjacent to the large public plaza with memorial and fountains, as well as the tram to the nearby mountaintop which had restaurants, zoo, amusement park, etc.; walkable city center with nearby restaurants, shopping, green spaces, and more. Based on our family’s experience, we zealously endorse and recommend the Novotel Almaty City Center Hotel and will fondly remember our stay and the hotel’s kind, thoughtful, and service-oriented staff for taking care of our family.

We recently had a stay at this Swissotel. Given the reputation of the brand, our expectations were naturally set high. However, the reality of our experience fell significantly short of those anticipations. 1. Check-in Procedure: Even with online check-in we were subjected to a 30-minute wait. One of our pre-booked rooms was not ready at the time of arrival. 2. Room's Condition: - A glaring lapse in cleanliness was evident with the state of the bathroom floor near its entrance (photo attached). - The bathroom door's sliding mechanism was faulty and highly inconvenient. - The overall condition of the bathroom indicated it's due for an overhaul and repairs (photos attached). - The discovery of a used ear swab under the table raised significant concerns about the room's preparation and cleanliness (photo attached). - A faulty power outlet in the bathroom added to the growing list of maintenance concerns (photo attached). - The discovery of a dead insect in the drapes clearly points to a continuous lack of attention to detail with the cleaning staff (photo attached). 3. Birthday Cake: Our agreement for a pre-arranged complimentary birthday cake was not only overlooked but was also delivered a day later than promised, despite having multiple conversations and providing evidence of our prior agreement (via the official hotel WhatsApp). 4. Water Bottle Replenishment: The consistent oversight in providing an essential like water, despite multiple request channels, was surprising. The water had to be fetched from the cleaning staff, we had to chase them and ask. None of the other channels, like the official app or the reception, fulfilled our request for the water delivery. 5. Dining: Our anticipation of an à la carte menu was countered by a buffet offering. Being told this was due to hotel occupancy levels feeling unsatisfactory. This went on for both evenings spent at the hotel. Portions of the a la carte menu were available only for room service. 6. Buffet Food Quality: The limited options, particularly for main courses (3), left much to be desired. Our experience with the freshly prepared pasta was particularly disappointing. It was watery, bland, disgusting. You could get better pasta at an office canteen. We have travelled quite a big part of the world and this buffet was easily the worst we have ever had. Both taste and variety were not worth the price. And we were forced into it by being denied the a la carte option. The hotel is above capacity - great, but we paid for the same service as if it weren't, right? Not OUR problem. 7. Breakfast Experience: The overall offering was lackluster. The variety was uninspiring, especially when compared to even basic 3-star hotels. Stale pastry (croissant from the day before) at a 5* hotel is inexcusable - these are absolute basics. Staff appeared overwhelmed, often forgetting to replenish food and drinks (had to be reminded many times) and struggling to manage guest numbers. Only 2 juice options fo

So, I booked 4 nights on two separate bookings for different rooms having extended my stay in Almaty. As such, the photos provided represent a ground-floor double room and a upstairs family room with a mezzanine. Most importantly, for the price paid, which was very reasonable indeed, I consider the hotel to be of superb value. As such I shall order my opinions according to their importance. Firstly. The staff were very friendly and professional throughout the stay including the security. Secondly, I approve of the interior of the hotel - the overall design of the rooms being very comfortable indeed, and unusually spacious. The breakfast from 7-10 was cosy and supplied all the necessaries, though I would recommend fried eggs for the future. In addition to the above, the double room had satellite TV with access to the internet - i.e. YouTube etc. The swimming pool, though I didn't use it looks fantastic, and the restaurant food is well-priced and delicious (I recommend the lentil soup, with Chicken-Spinach and a side of rice). Though there was construction work happening which could have been a little more tidy given that some guests have to navigate through it, I would still rate this hotel a 5/5 for the value of the booking. 👍

GGuest UserI had to fly to Almaty on family business. Hotel itself is trendy, historical building. Inside is really nice, clean. Front desk folks are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms looks exactly as on photos. Each room has electric cattle, 2 bottles of water for each occupant. They refill tea, coffee, water every day. If you ask, they can bring you thus any time. I have to say their 24 hours room service is great. I bought room with breakfast. Highly recommend. Menu/ buffet is good. You can order omelets or oatmeal. One thing, though. Menu does not change at all. So, if you stayed few days, you will be fine. I stayed 10 days. It kind got boring after 4 days. Never the less, breakfast is good. Housekeeping is great! They really clean your room, disinfect. They change sheets every other day, towels every day. A lot of toilettes: shampoo, conditioner, body wash gel, body and hands creams, shower cap, even hair comb. You can pre order transfer from and to airport. They met me with the sign. It was great. Really great hotel. I will highly recommend to stay there.
IINFOKODEThe room was not cleaned; no drinking water was provided (drinking water for the next day). I have stayed in this hotel many times, and this time it feels much worse than before.
We have booked 2 rooms for 3 Nights at the Hotel. The hotel is centrally located and very well maintained. Rooms are big and well designed. The USP of the Hotel is its swimming pool and Jacuzzi pool in the basement. They also offer SPA and its quite well maintained with courteous staff. Biggest flipside is the lack of veg/vegan options at the breakfast. Even a basic item like boiled eggs get over and not refilled. Housekeeping is another department where the Hotel needs to buck up. Overall a very good stay.
ЭЭймерин ЛиThe hostel is in a good location. But if you think you will have a good rest there, you are mistaken. The women's room is 8 square meters, has 3 two-story beds for 5 guests and an administrator. The administrator sighed all night, walked back and forth, whispered on the phone. At five in the morning, she decided to wash the floor in the room with bleach. At 8, they met with the shift worker and loudly washed the guests' bones. I, having gone about my business, wanted to sleep for an hour during the day. No such luck. The number of administrators increased. They shouted loudly among themselves, rattled pots, laughed out loud. The mattresses on the beds were already tired after 50-60 years. The springs dug into the body. But the linen was quite clean, although with towels gray from age.
GGuest UserI arrived in the middle of the night, and was unable to pay for the room because both of my credit cards were rejected because I did not have a PIN. The staff were sympathetic, and gave me the room anyway. In the morning I had to call back to my US banks and both said that they do not issue PINs for cards with chips, so they could not help. So I had to go out in search of an ATM and withdrew the max permitted on two different debit cards. This was barely enough to cover the bill, but I was able to pay up after a certain amount of stress. The room itself was modern and comfortable. My only complaint was that the bathroom walls and tiles are matt black, and the lights were not bright enough around the mirror to make shaving easy. The breakfast and dinner in the restaurant on site were average. I would note that I never needed a PIN at any other establishment in Almaty, nor in other cities in the region as I traveled and used credit cards without issue.
TteslaheapHe arrived by the pair during the quarantine. For the day he called and agreed for 12 thousand per day. He said that I would arrive at midnight from the SD on what and go to the evening in the Sabbath. When entering the respiratory, they were counted as three days, but for 13500 tog (!). I mentioned the reservation but did not answer that I was not aware and I agreed, as it was too late to look for anything. At 12:00, the call is called and asks why we haven't left yet. I explained that the hotel has been agreed on time and price. But at the respiratory began to insist on their adopted rules. I know it perfectly, I have been to different hotels in the world. But still it is necessary to synchronize work between staff. Every guest should explain 3 times to understand. Such attitude towards customers and irresponsibility is immediately taken into account. Also significant minus was on infrastructure. In the shower every day the water pressure was lost and even stopped. It was necessary to call for those support. The refrigerator and the container in the room are noisy, so you had to turn off to sleep. The elevator in the building is not at all. You had to drown on the third floor daily. Spa/sauna is not released during the time. Waited for their time for half an hour. Breakfast is average, after the second time there is already a desire to go there. During the quarantine there were very few guests, man 10 probably. And the service was very weak. Maximum reach 2 stars.
GGuest UserThis is not a bad hotel but not quite as luxurious or high end as one might expect from the pricetag. Checkin was handled well and I get a modest upgrade for Hilton status. The best thing about the room was the view of the snowcapped mountains from two sides. Bed was comfy and towels were thick and plush. The bathroom was not great; a stand-in tub with a half door that doesn't keep the water from leaking out, and a ridiculously places handheld shower that either you had to hold or crouch down (unless you are under 5 feet tall) to use. Just unacceptable for a four star international hotel. Also the shower gel didn't work and the shampoo container was not even attached to the wall. Other things in the room didn't work quite right. Breakfast was a reasonably good buffet. The location is slightly out of the way but an easy and cheap Yandex ride or walk of 20-30 minutes to the more central sights. Overall not a bad choice (especially if you want to earn or burn Hilton points) but not sure it is worth the rates.
GGuest UserI’ve never left a negative review in my life for any establishment. I instead opt to not leave a review at all. But I must share this horrendous experience with others so no one makes the mistake of going here. My colleagues and I booked the stay for around 5 nights. We booked through booking.com, and were asked online if we needed a smoking or non smoking room. We opted for smoking and point to note the conversation was on text through the app. Pictures attached We checkin to Mildom and the lady tells us there’s no balcony rooms available however you may smoke today in the room and we’ll provide you with a smoking room tomorrow. The next day they tell us to shift into Mildom Premium, the same hotel as them except claiming to be more ‘luxurious’. We check in and they tell us it’s going to cost us 20000 KZT extra (approx $60) for the room as it’s bigger. This was unusual as they never mentioned this before or a bigger room however we paid them as the reason we asked to be shifted was to get a smoking room. On the night of checkout, as im leaving these two women working at the front desk, tell me there is a situation where you’ve smoked in the room and there will be a penalty on you before you leave. Im staring at their faces in disbelief and not only this, but they send a bell boy upstairs to our room to check for smells of cigarettes. I know this because as he came down one of the women asked him if he checked and presumably got PICTURES to which he said no and she was visibly irritated by him. I try to explain calmly at first that we have the conversation with booking.com where you guys have agreed to give us a smoking room. This exasperated women starts getting irritated and by that time I’d called a friend who understood Russian. She tells him they have video of us smoking in the room and she looks at her computer and reads out my passport details while looking threateningly at me as if she’ll turn me in (which btw lol I already had my passport with me). I get extremely irritated by this point and tell her that we aren’t denying we smoked. Just for laughs I asked her why don’t you show me the video then. She says her manager has it and she can’t show it right now 😂. My friend then speaks to her in Russian and shows both these women my. Booking.com convo which id been trying to so many times before. They immediately saw their mistake and asked us to please not take any offence to what they said. This kind of harassment deserves to be publicised and I urge any potential travels to Almaty Kazakhstan to stay away for your own sake. The way this staff treated us as if we were criminals was astounding, Any establishment with such employees need to revamp themselves immediately, firstly by getting rid of such rude receptionists. I believe I’ve left this review at Mildom City hotel aswell by accident. Please disregard it. Mildom Premium is the hotel I’m referring to.
AandrewsE1824WOI had an 11 hour layover between my flight from Dubai to my flight to Atyrau and was really searching for a hotel near the airport that was convenient and reasonably priced. Grand Hotel Erbil is both of those. I made the booking online with the option to pay on arrival. The booking made provision for a free shuttle pickup from the airport and a very reasonable transfer back the following morning. The hotel confirmed everything by Whatsapp. Contactless payment. Clean room. Clean linen. Friendly and efficient service. I ordered a simple burger and chips via WhatsApp and the food arrived hot and fresh. Minibar is fully stocked and reasonably priced. Their menu is extensive (55 page book) and they cater for everything from a bowl of hummus to platters of meats, cakes, cocktails, etc. For a traveller, this hotel is well worth it. Thanks, Grand Hotel Erbil!
AAlvenAiThe hotel is located in the center of Almaty. There is a big shopping mall opposite the hotel, which is very convenient for eating. The hotel is a little old, but it is cost-effective for this price range. I met several Chinese people.
