I booked 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express Aberdeen for myself and my husband and 10 year old son, I booked a double bed with pull out sofa bed option as this was the only room that could accommodate my family at the time. At arrival to the hotel, we proceeded to take our cases up to the room, and when entering the room, it was evident that the accommodation would not be suitable, since there was NO room to move at all, and an office chair wedged in between the double bed and wall, preventing any access to the sofa bed. We travel with suitcases, and there was not ONE section of space to allow us to gain access to our cases, only the bed in which we obviously would need that to sleep. Upon calling the front desk, we were told very rudely that we had the biggest room available, and to ‘put the chair in the hallway’, is that not a safety issue? Please note that we were prepared and happy to pay additional costs if a room change was needed. I do not understand how this hotel or housekeeping can think this is a suitable situation for a family? I do not believe it would be deemed safe or compliant in event of an emergency situation either. Looking on the website I can see the options to add a child to a booking which gives you the double bed with pull out option, but honestly from what we experienced, this is absolutely not the case nor should this option be available as clearly it isn’t suitable for a family. We had to leave the hotel, and relocate elsewhere. I have emailed my grievances and not had a reply at all. Stay elsewhere if you are are family with young kids!

Stayed at The Caledonian Aberdeen as a birthday treat whilst out seeing a friend. The rooms are clean, if a little dated, but the TV is massive and has HDMI ports and Android casting. Biggest thing about this stay though was the service at the bar. The food was good and 5g4 service exceptional. Sophie was amazing. Single-handedly manning the bar and never showing any sign of stress as more and more customers arrived. Each customer was cordially greated and all were given exceptional attention throughout their bar experience. Highly recommended.

This is the fourth time I have had the pleasure of staying here. From the minute we checked in to the end of our stay everything was just perfect. The hotel is spotless, the food very good, and all the team members so friendly and welcoming, a very special mention to Dylan who was outstanding. I look forward to my next visit very much. Stayed here over a month in July. Was a wonderful place to explore Aberdeen, Deeside and Speyside. The hotel is situated in central Aberdeen just off Union street. It’s s new property in a pedestrian area with a parking area below. Unfortunately the parking area is a) hard to get to (mapping software such as Google maps cannot find it) and b) not directly linked to the hotel ( staff can access the area outside the parking garage if access elevator access is required - just buzz the hotel and ask). Not sure at all why it was designed this way as it’s a simple change of doors to allow customer access to the hotel with a key card, and still allow staff access to their restricted areas. Customer service at the hotel was excellent in all areas: front-desk, bar staff, restaurant and housekeeping - impressive. Room was comfortable if a little compact compared to some Residence Inns. The room lacked a few cooking dishes/ items. None appeared to be available on-request. Breakfast was great with an extensive selection plus additional items available to order. Cooking is easy as easy to prepare meals & groceries are very easy to stock as there is a Marks& Spencer food hall less than 100 yards/meters away.

The hotel is in the shopping mall, which is convenient for shopping and dining. The room is average. The breakfast is average. There are two parking lots in the shopping mall, one old (7£/night for floors above 9) and one new (18£/night), both are Union Square parking lots. The old one has a red brick wall and is behind the train station. To enter the hotel, you need to cross the train station overpass and enter the shopping mall to get to the hotel.

With the comfort of Sweet Beds in every room, lightning-quick free fibre Wi-Fi throughout, and one of the most varied breakfast spreads you'll find in any hotel, customers are regularly surprised at just how much they get for what they pay. Lovely country house hotel on the southern edge of Aberdeen with easy access to city.
Welcoming hotel with a very traditional feel in the main building. Bedrooms are modern and our Standard room was well equipped with a large double bed and plenty of tea coffee etc. The hotel is dog friendly for a small charge. We had lovely cooked breakfasts and continental also available. We ate breakfast in the drawing room, as dogs understandably not allowed in main restaurant. We only ate in the bar area one evening which was cosy and fast service. Friendly staff and nice touch of a Birthday platter delivered to room in recognition of a significant Birthday being celebrated.

GGuest UserThe whole atmosphere was relaxing and the rooms were fantastic. Great friendly staff, great food. The beds were super comfy and those pillows were so comfy. I asked the staff where I could buy them from unfortunately he didn’t know it that’s okay. Would defiantly come back again. Thanks for making the whole trip relaxing Lynn craig
GGuest UserClean hotel with nice big rooms and great facilities, the microwave and fridge were great added extras. My husband has a weird obsession with showers so he loved the rain shower haha. The staff we dealt with were all very friendly too. We will definitely be back again.
BBrownRecently stayed overnight for a wedding we were attending at the hotel. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. We received a free upgrade and the rooms were spotless.
Breakfast the following morning was more than adequate with the option of a full scottish along with an array of food for a continental breakfast.
I would have no hesitation staying at Norwood Hall again
GGEThe small sink is so cute! !! If you catch a flight the next day, it is a good choice for classmates and parents. A 10-minute walk from the hotel to the airport is very convenient, and you can get up late in the morning.
[Location] The hotel is next to Aberdeen Airport, 10 minutes away. If you enter the city, take a taxi: 01224 494949, which is about 15-20 pounds. The bus is also very convenient. It takes 727 to walk for 3 minutes, and the one-way fare is 3.5 pounds.
[Health] Very clean hotel
[Value for money] High value for money, newer equipment, the cheapest Courtyard hotel in the UK is 600 yuan a night (may be slightly more expensive in November, winter and summer)
[wifi] Wi-Fi is free
[Room size] The room size is normal, not big, but not small. Two people will not feel crowded when staying. Better than too many European Hiltons.
[Parking] You can park downstairs
[Service] The ladies at the front desk are so warm and tender that they can melt into their sweet smiles. When you stay in Scotland for a long time, you will have a glass heart. Because the Scottish people are too enthusiastic, London will not, and the front desk will not answer (not for the Chinese but for everyone).
Had the worse caesar salad half a salmon fillet and not alot of salad and for £19 so it's poor. The menu in these hotels are poor and very very expensive for what you are getting. I think it's lazy and boring and wanting to take alot of money off the customer for very poor and under portioned food. If it wasn't for the fact I have to stay here through my work I wouldn't. But I will be writing to my company and sending them a photo of my food to show them how much we and them are being ripped off compared to the other hotels in the Dyce area.
GGuest UserGreat place. Check-in was perfect. The receptionists noticed we had a lot of shopping, so she checked us into a bigger apartment, which we were very grateful for as we had more shopping to do. 1st floor apartment with views over to the Christmas Village. Plenty of room for us both with adequate cooking facilities it had everything you would need for self catering. We did eat out but were very happy to find tins in the cupbpard with tea coffee augar and milk in the fridge. Amazing comfortable bed and pillows. Loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom. the large shower was amazing. Considering the location of these apartments, we were not disturbed in the night with people passing pr coming out the ****** in the early hours. Will definitely recommend it to fellow Shetlanders and look forward to returning
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a perfect spot and over from train station so no hiking case around, the hotel is lovely and staff were brilliant, we were on the 4th floor which was very hot with no air con, we asked for a fan and was brought to our room in minutes, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was big and spacious, our only criticism was no towel hooks, one mirror was to low and the other to high and a woman likes to check how she looks!!, and our cups were dirty they were rinsed not washed, and the room was not very inviting it was plain and boring not even a picture on the wall just blank walls, this wouldn't stop me staying here again the food was amazing and breakfast was good and in a good spot....
GGuest UserThis was a last minute booking for one night that I started to regret as soon as I checked the reviews. I booked a single room but was given a large spacious room. The room was clean and the location was excellent. I was able to find on street parking next to the hotel and get a taxi within minutes to attend an event nearby. Union square was just across the road with plenty of options for an early morning coffee before returning home.
GGuest UserThe address advertised is incorrect. I walked to the address on Union Street and had to Google search the actual location. The accommodation was actually in an alley on Rose Street at the opposite end of Union Street. When phoning the property, it was a London number, not Aberdeen. I had to find the property down an unmarked alley and a mobile number was on the door. Fortunately, the maid was pleasant and helpful.
