🛌 The room is spacious and clean, offering breathtaking balcony views of Kagoshima Bay and the majestic Sakurajima volcano, with all necessary amenities provided.
🚙 Parking is available for 1,000 Yen per night. The hotel's covered parking area has limited capacity, but there is a large open parking space conveniently located just across the road. Remember to present your parking ticket to the receptionist each time you arrive at the hotel!
🛍️ The hotel is conveniently situated just a 10-minute drive from the main shopping and dining district. Plus, there are several convenience stores right across the street for your late-night snacks. 😋🌙
Its a good place as a onsen resort hotel. The onsens are really good. The food is so so but they provide free flow ramen and ice-pop at night as supper and snack. The room is spacious, clean and quiet. There is a private onsen tub at the balcony of our room. It is so nice to enjoy it in the breezy spring.
It will be better if you have own car to stay here. There do not have much choice of public transport direct to the hotel. But hotel staffs are also helpful to assist you to grab a taxi to any scenic spots nearby. The taxi drivers are all very nice. Even they can not speak english well, they tried very best to drive slowly when we pass by beautiful sakura park and use simple english to introduce few scenic places.
The hotel limousine provided us one way when we arrived the jingu station and one way when we checked out from the hotel to jingu for free. I like their service and have great stays here!
They changed my room on Christmas day and I ended up somewhere right under a staircase and the whole night I could hear people walking down and up. Didn't sleep at all. But the staff is wonderful and the onsen is the best
I often travel to Japan, and Dormy Inn rooms always seem to be in high demand. The 20+ sqm twin rooms, perfect for two adults and one child, are usually impossible to book. So, when I saw this room type available in Kagoshima, I decided to book it for one night.
Overall, my experience fell short of expectations. Unfortunately, neither adult could enjoy the onsen (hot springs) for personal reasons, which is arguably the hotel's main highlight – a real shame. The room itself was a bit small, and while cleanliness was decent, the toilet emitted a persistent garlic-like odor.
On the positive side, the dining options were excellent. Breakfast featured Kagoshima's special black pork shabu-shabu and a type of sashimi. Complimentary ice cream and Yakult were available all day in the lounge on the hot spring floor, and free soy sauce ramen was served after 9:30 PM. Given these amenities, I'd say it's best suited for adults who plan to fully utilize the onsen facilities.
What truly made the stay less than ideal wasn't just my inability to use the onsen. More significantly, during check-in, the front desk informed me that my reservation did not include a 3-year-old child, resulting in an additional charge for the child's accommodation and meals. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and honestly, I'm not sure who to blame. I distinctly remember booking for two adults and one child, so I'm puzzled about what went wrong in the process. Perhaps Dormy Inn and I simply weren't a good match this time.
I'm well aware that Japanese hotels charge per person, so I always meticulously enter the correct number of guests and compare prices across different platforms when booking in Japan. Having visited Japan over a dozen times, this was the first instance where I was charged extra at check-in due to a discrepancy in the number of guests. I was quite surprised when informed about the booking error. Checking my Trip.com confirmation on my phone at the front desk, I saw it indeed only listed two adults. I can only fault myself for never reviewing the confirmation after booking; moving forward, I'll be sure to check them carefully to catch and correct any issues promptly. After reporting this to Trip.com customer service, they responded quickly and later reimbursed me half of the additional cost.
During this trip, both hotels I booked through Trip.com had unexpected additional charges at check-in. Besides the Dormy Inn incident, another hotel in Fukuoka charged a separate accommodation tax. Interestingly, I booked a different hotel in Fukuoka on another platform, and its price already included this tax, so I didn't pay anything extra upon arrival. Moving forward, when booking hotels in Japan, I'll have to carefully consider if the lowest price offered on certain platforms might be due to hidden fees.
The room is quite big, the food is also good, there is a Chinese lady at the front desk who patiently explains things in detail, there is a large sand bath nearby, and there is a light party on the beach at night, the hotel's hot spring pool is quite comfortable to soak in, the only shortcoming is that the Internet is really a bit bad, I hope the hotel can complete the repair as soon as possible and improve the Internet.
The hotel is not big but very beautiful, the service is good, the food is very delicious, and the hot spring mineral content is high. Thank you to the restaurant staff for their patient and friendly Chinese, English and Japanese services, and thank you to the front desk lady for helping us contact the bus down the mountain on a snowy day. I want to come to this hotel again. Highly recommended.
There is a pool in the room, the food is good, JR National Station takes about 1,500 yen by taxi for 10 minutes, there is nothing fun around, pure vacation can also

The room was sea view and the open view was nice

Very satisfied
the perfect remote place for onsen and sand bath relaxing treatment, fantastic rooms in Japanese style with all facility, great service twice daily, onsen bath with sea-side view at 5th floor of the hotel... restaurants and shops inside the hotel, bicycle available, restaurants and supermarkets in the near of the hotel, friendly hotel staff - just incedible nice and helpful !
The appearance of this hotel is very special and it is divided into two halls. The main building has beautiful floors and you can see the doors of every room. The room is fully equipped, but the furniture is a bit old, but everything is very clean. Maybe this hotel is 30 years old! The staff was very attentive and helped me carry all my luggage to my room. I rarely experience such service! There are two open-air free parking lots in the parking lot, which is convenient for self-driving tours. There is a small wedding hall in the main hall, which is simple and beautiful. There are both outdoor and indoor swimming pools, making it convenient for swimming in any weather. The breakfast options are quite good and tasty with lots of choices. Next time I come to Kagoshima, this hotel will definitely be my first choice!

HHuifeideyuerbushanggouThe hotel offers a shuttle service, which makes getting around very convenient. Right outside the hotel, there's a tram stop that takes you to the pier, where you can catch a boat to Sakurajima for sightseeing. The hotel's breakfast is quite substantial, with plenty of fruit, and the golden kiwi was especially sweet. All the staff were attentive and thoughtful. The hotel also has a free gym, and right next door is a hot spring ♨️ where you can enjoy a full soak or a foot bath; the spa services, however, are paid. Overall, everything was excellent. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit. I hope for friendship between China and Japan and world peace 🤝🏻

陳陳查禮My sincerest gratitude to the professional service and helpfulness of the front desk staff in particular the Div. Manager, Mr. Atsuyoshi Kubota, who patiently search for available medical service during late hours for treating my wife's injury and also voluntarily arrange a staff to accompany us to the hospital. Ram Kumar, the accompanying staff, is instrumemental in our communication to the medical personnels and he is so kind to arrange late dinner for us at the hotel's discretion. They not only demonstrate the highest level of professionalism but also their genuine care of the well being of the customers.
Once again, big big thanks to Mr. Kubota and his team of beautiful people.
By the way, good breakfast and dinner, both in terms of the menu as well as service and venue.

GGouyankanshijieThe views of the bay and the volcano are absolutely stunning, 'picturesque' doesn't even begin to cover it!
My room type was a garden view twin, so I couldn't see the volcano or the sea. It was all about value for money, at around 600-700 RMB per night. The room was spacious enough (by Japanese standards), and the luggage rack could fit two medium-sized suitcases. The bathroom was also quite large.
If you want to see the volcano, you can head to the courtyard or walk five minutes to the Shiroyama Observatory. You can soak in the large hot spring bath while looking at the volcano, but we only took a quick look around the baths and didn't really try them out, so I can't comment much.
The hotel shuttle bus runs every half hour, which is pretty convenient. The city view bus stop is near the Shiroyama Observatory. Just ask the receptionist at the hotel lobby on the 4th floor how to get to the observatory; we turned left then right and it was a five-minute walk.
By the way, the city view bus route is a bit winding and there aren't many buses. It's better to take the JR to Sengan-en. The JR has a stop right at the entrance of Sengan-en, and the platform itself is the best spot to view Sakurajima.
TThere’s A World To SeeThis place is incredible, ran by a small operation up in the mountains of Kagoshima. The onsen is something out of this world. Rich with iron and minerals from the mountain, it looks like something akin to a studio Ghibli movie from the outside.
The staff are kind and very helpful and breakfast is a real treat for those who like a traditional Japanese breakfast.
10/10 would highly recommend and stay again.
Also to note as a foreigner with tattoos the staff don’t seem to mind so much and my entrance to the baths was permissible. That may be helpful to know.
