Excellent location. Very close to a konbini and all transport. Fast wifi. Free coffee. They provide towels and you can change your towel every day. On the 1st floor you can dry your hair with a Dyson hair dryer. There's also a hair dryer (a simple one) in the room. The shower has a shampoo, hair conditioner, shower gel and a garbage bin located very conveniently. There are also swabs, tissues and paper towels. There's a fridge and washing machines for 300 yen (coin activated) and a dryer for your clothes for 100 yen. I would definitely recommend this hostel for a friend

The location was great because Kiyomizu Ji Temple, Kodai Ji Temple and Kennin Ji Temple were very close and I could walk from the morning!
The room is very fashionable and recommended for couples.
However, there is a difficulty, the wall is very thin, and the conversation in the next room can be heard clearly.
As for amenities, you need to buy or bring in because there are no toothbrushes, hand soaps, pajamas, etc.
It is very satisfying to see it as a private room dormitory!
However, I thought that I wanted a laundry space if I treated the dormitory, and the facilities are this evaluation.

Good location, walkable to metro station and some tourist attractions. Provides shoe rack and slippers to change upon entering, has lift to access all floors. Shared kitchen and common area is spacious and comfortable, provides kitchenware, stove, cutleries, coffee and tea. Toilets and bathroom are clean and equipped with hairdryer. There is storage under bunk bed but need to prepare your own lock and key. Has airconditioning in the room. Paid washer and dryer available.

1. The price is cheap, but the location is good.
2. There was a musty smell as soon as we entered. Even though it was new in 2025, it's probably because the house hasn't been properly renovated.
3. There are no slippers in the shoe-off area.
4. There is no disinfectant liquid in the restroom, and everyone has to share a pair of slippers when taking off shoes.
5. There is only one towel for the floor mat when entering the bathroom. It's not changed for each person, and there is no diatomaceous earth mat either.
6. The non-stick coating of the pot in the kitchen has peeled off.
7. The paint on a pair of chopsticks is chipped and peeling.
8. It looks like only one sponge is used for washing dishes & kitchen sink (since there's only one sponge available).

Loved this place so much! It's a shame we only booked one night. We didn't meet the host at all; it was a completely self-check-in experience. Towels, toothbrushes, and other amenities were available for self-service purchase. They also offered bike rentals (1000 JPY per bike per day). Additionally, there was a 200 JPY tax per person. At first, I wondered how to pay the tax since we didn't see the host, but then I found the reservation confirmation and a QR code on the table in the room, which allowed us to scan and pay directly! Our room was on the second floor and had its own toilet and sink, while the shower room was shared and located outside. The room was really beautiful, and the kids loved it. I thought a wooden room might have poor soundproofing, but it was surprisingly quiet. We went to bed before 7 PM and didn't hear a sound. In the morning, we also enjoyed some hot white rice porridge, which was fantastic! I hope to have the chance to stay for a few more nights next time!

📮Location: Located near Sanjo, a 10-minute walk to the Kamo River and about 5-6 minutes to the shopping mall. There are many local izakayas and bars nearby, but it's very quiet. It's also close to Nishiki Market, in the city center.
💰Price: Excellent value for money; compared to cramped hotels, this place feels like home. The owners, a husband and wife, kept the entire hostel very clean. I wish I could stay here for a month! The TV in the room is even a Sony.
👍Service: The owners speak a little Chinese, and it was convenient to communicate with a ********* girl working in a work exchange program. The living room has free tea bags, snacks, a microwave, and ice in the refrigerator. 🧊
In short: I recommend this hostel for solo female travelers. I'll definitely stay here with friends next time. A hidden gem of a hostel, mostly frequented by local Japanese guests, and the environment is quiet. Fantastic! 👏

For a solo trip, I recommend it.
Well located, close to the bus and a few minutes' walk from the metro.
However, if you need someone at reception, there's no one there from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m.

The house in general is very nice, looks like typical Japanese old building. It’s quite cosy and not far from the train station. There was cleaning everyday. But the was some smudges and dirt on the walls and on the ceiling (I think it’s because the building is quite old). And we had extra pay for some things in the hostel. Anyway I give 5 stars because the price was cheap. For this price it’s a good place to stay
It's a 6-minute walk from Demachiyanagi Station, and there are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, so it's a good location.
There is a kitchen in the shared space on the second floor, which is very convenient for those who want to cook for themselves. There are also free drinks, manga, and books.
The third floor is a dormitory space, and it is air-conditioned and clean, but in the case of mixed-gender accommodation, the upper bunk beds are not completely separated, so there is no privacy, which is a bit tough, especially for women. The lower bunk beds have curtains that can be closed, so I think they're fine...
There are showers and toilets on both the second and third floors. It's good when it's not crowded, but if it's crowded, it may be a hassle to wait in line.
There is a curfew, and you can't go out until 6:00 in the morning, so it may be a bit inconvenient for those who want to go out early in the morning.

Reasonable priced hostel during new year eve next to kimono temple. Cleanliness in toilet, bathroom and basin area is acceptable but can be improved. My bed is upper bed and the space is way too narrow to get up there( see photo attached) I saw the lower bed were not fully occupied, it could have arranged another bed actually. The bed cubicle is open on top so you can see the next adjacent bed, there’s a pipe on top on the bed.
4 floors sharing shower rooms located at 2nd floor, kitchen and common area are quite cramped with baggage storage, used towels etc.
Alright for a night stay.

FUGA STAY, true to the meaning of its name “fuga” (elegance and serenity), is a refined and peaceful hideaway tucked within the heart of Kyoto. I personally love hotels that are hidden away from the main road yet still extremely convenient—just a 3 to 5-minute walk from Omiya Subway Station and numerous Kyoto city bus stops. If you’re into cycling or using e-scooters, there’s a Luup rental station right in front of the hotel. The room is spacious and very comfortable for a solo traveler. It comes with two double beds that you can easily move together to form a super king-size bed. The bathroom is also large, with no sense of tightness. The front desk staff speaks Japanese and Chinese, so communication is smooth and easy. Honestly, I’m hesitant to praise FUGA too much—if too many people discover it, the price might go up! P.S. Just around the corner is Tendō Shrine, only a 2-minute walk away. It felt like a beautiful encounter by fate.
Great locations, near main attractions, bus stops and subway stations! The owner is friendly and offered great breakfast! Very safe for solo travellers. The dog is very cute and quiet.
A little fit far away from Kyoto station but it's not a problem because you have a bus station near the hotel. This hotel is located in a really calm place without noisy tourists. The room looks like a flat. Really comfortable. P.S.: Starbucks is located on the corner
Cheap stay, can’t really complain for the price I paid, amenities was good, but the only thing was it was a bit messy in the room , not much storage places so everyone stuff was everywhere.
It was a great place and very nice staff!! I hope to see them again in future! Nothing fancy in rooms but bathrooms were very nice. Common area is pretty sweet as well. Loved the dinning and living room area, I’ll post about it on my channel maybe @ Varun Batra Pic is just a Kyoto memory
As a solo traveler, I highly recommend this hostel for its exceptional quality and value. I stayed in a private room for just one night, but the experience was memorable. The location is convenient, with easy access to transportation and nearby attractions, although it’s not the most centrally located spot in Kyoto. What truly stood out was the service—staff members were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and eager to help with any needs or questions. The amenities were also top-notch, including clean and comfortable facilities, well-maintained common areas, and thoughtful extras that made my stay even more enjoyable. If I ever return to Kyoto, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose this hostel again. It’s a perfect option for solo travelers looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and reasonably priced. Very close to the station. There was also a coin laundry. There was also a relatively large refrigerator and microwave. The room was large, spacious, and very comfortable. I want to use it again.
