Regency Torviscas Apartments and Suites

Having read some of the recent reviews of the Regency Club it has left me wondering if we stayed at the same place as our 6 night stay from the 9th Jan was brilliant! We stayed in a ground floor one bed apartment with direct access to the pool from the terrace which was great, the apartment was clean and the beds really comfy. Unlike some other guests experience, we had regular cleaners in and an abundance of fresh towels. Yes the bathroom could do with some TLC as the shower tray was very springy at one end and some of the tiling was chipped. Never a problem getting sunbeds, we found the pool to be clean although the jacuzzi did look a little grubby one day. We went out every night so can't comment on the evening entertainment, the reception staff were friendly as were the supermarket staff. The bakery (when open) was lovely aswell. 10-15 minute walk down to the bars and restaurants, as stated in other reviews a taxi back is around 5 euros. I wouldn't recommend this accommodation to someone who isn't fully mobile.

Stayed here as two adults and one child (age 6) on B&B basis. We found check in easy, and were grateful for the lift to our bungalow with our luggage. The bungalow was spacious, clean and perfect for us, we also really appreciated the sun terrace nice to be able to sit out there at the end of the day. On the first night there was a lot of noise from the hotel opposite which we were worried about but glad to report there was nothing for the rest of our stay. Pools were great, temperature was just right, no problem getting a sunbed just after 10am and the towels were a bonus. Disappointing no inflatables allowed but it was a busy pool from opening to closing. The lifeguards did enforce this rule yet i don’t recall seeing any signs so there were some disappointed people. Location wise cannot fault, 10 min walk downhill to the beach, restaurants and bars, there is a big market across the road twice a week, bus stops nearby as well (including Siam park and Siam mall free buses) as is the road train stop, also supermarket a stones throw away with everything reasonably priced and lots of choice. We would recommend dinner at San Marcos across the road best pizzas we had, the irish bar across the road and babushkas next door for drinks. Hotel breakfast was plentiful but very busy between 9-10 as people tended to go there then to the pool for it opening at 10. We did the evening entertainment on our first night and never returned it was tailored to a German audience and so my son struggled to join in or find people to talk to. We tried the water carpet, bouncy castle and foam parties that were on during the day, all were very busy so we didn’t persevere with queuing for turns, again very German orientated. Overall we had a good trip, not far from airport and short taxi to Aqualand, siam park and monkey park. We enjoyed walking down to the beach for dinner most nights, the walk home was a little steeper but manageable. Would recommend this hotel for families

I used to go here every year 25 years ago so it was wonderful to relive so many happy memories. The resort is even better than I remember. It's beautifully designed, the apartments are clean, spacious and very well equipped. The pool now has a jacuzzi and paddling pool, and my son loved the foam party. If you're looking for a relaxing family holiday with the beach and restaurants on your doorstep, you won't find anything better.

We had a fab time at playaolid. Staff were so nice and worked so hard. Be prepared for walking up and down steps if you aren't in the main building with the lift . We were top floor and had 6 flights of stairs to go up and down. The food was your average 3 star hotel food- maybe better with breakfast always being our fav. Pool bar open everyday 10am til 5pm meant you didn't have to get dressed to eat inside, although we did one day just to test it out. Mexican food night was great and a lovely touch having a 3 peice Mexican musical trio. Bar soft drinks not great but we added a bit of cordial that's sat on the bar to a lemonade or water were happy. The slush pina coladas were my fav. We were super lucky with the weather- I think they had a bit of a heat wave, my kids were happy in the pool all week, we ventured down to the games room once but no-one else was in there! The evening entertainment wasn't great some nights. But we didn't stay for the first few. The Friday night Latin band are not to be missed. They were amazing and a great end to a great holiday.
Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife

We had previously stayed at the RIU Arecas and as much as we had enjoyed ourselves we decided to try the RIU Palace this time round. Our first impressions ( and they do count ) was of a well oiled machine. From the welcoming drink whilst sorting out the check in details to opening up our side sea view room and taking in the panorama we knew we would be very happy in the hotel. Luggage was brought up within a couple of minutes and allowed us to unpack before dinner. The range of food in the buffet was immense and I particularly enjoyed the range of fish on offer from sea bass ,lemon sole, hake , salmon etc and the salad bar was replenished continuously so no worry about limp lettuce ! The two speciality restaurants were included in the cost of the holiday and you just needed to book sharpish on arrival to get your preferred time and date. The Krystal restaurant was excellent and I can still conjure up the crab bisque and the intense flavour of it now. As good as any fine dining experience. The Spanish restaurant was equally as good and had a fine selection of dishes to choose from. Wine prices were priced right and we never felt that they were over the top. I was also delighted that I could use the swimming pools which were heated much better than the Arecas and so I had my swim each day. I will definitely return to this hotel knowing that it has very high standards and great staff who take care of your needs where nothing is too much trouble.
