We had a pleasant stay at the Skybay Hotel. The ocean view from our corner room was spectacular and well worth it. My girlfriend accidentally left her iPad in the room after we checked out, and the hotel staff were very professional and responsible in helping us coordinate the international shipping back to Malaysia. We appreciate their honesty and efficient assistance. Highly recommended for the service and the location.

This was a very pleasant place to stay before and after a hike in Seoraksan National Park. Lovely view from the balcony. Very clean and comfortable, and helpful staff! Very convenient location. The local bus to the national park is right across the street from the hotel, and the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the express bus terminal. I was pleasantly surprised by a washing machine in the room, which was great to clean my muddy clothes after my hike (you'll need your own laundry detergent). The room had a kitchenette with sink, hot plate, and full-size refrigerator and freezer. The only problem is there was no pot or pan to use on the hot plate, so I could not actually use it to warm my food (unless I would travel with my own pot)! It would be nice if the room provided a hair dryer and if the hotel had some breakfast option. The cafe downstairs offers only drinks, not food, and doesn't open until 11 a.m. The entryway light is motion activated, and there are many electronic buttons and panels around the room that emit light, so if you are sensitive to light while sleeping, you will have to cover your eyes with a sleep mask. Also note that it you close the sliding door between the bed and living area while the air conditioning is on, it will prevent the cold air from reaching the part of the room where the thermostat is located, so the air conditioner will remain on indefinitely, and the sleeping area will get very cold. The various panels for lights and temperature were a bit difficult to understand. English labels would be helpful. But the receptionist was helpful and came up to my room to show me how to use the air conditioning. The USB port on the nightstand worked some of the time and sometimes it didn't. I couldn't figure out if there was a switch or setting somewhere in the room to make it work, or if it was just malfunctioning.

I had a very comfortable stay for three nights in Gangneung, thanks to how clean and well-maintained the accommodation was. The breakfast was fairly simple, but more than enough to start the day, and I especially appreciated the sense of space, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and comfortable. Getting around was easy whether by bus or taxi, and the location made it convenient to visit nearby attractions like Ojukheon and Jungang Market. For those travelling by car, the spacious parking area is definitely a big plus. There’s also a lovely pine forest path just behind the property, perfect for a quiet stroll. The ocean view from the room really added to the holiday atmosphere, and being able to enjoy both the sunrise and sunset was one of the highlights of staying at Shilla Monogram.

Ramada boasts truly stunning ocean views. The location is superb, ideal for a leisurely stroll after a meal. We decided to have breakfast on our last day and were pleased to find they've added pho (rice noodles) to the menu. My mother, who had been craving something warm since morning, absolutely loved it and ate it all up.

I was able to get a feel for the hotel's atmosphere thanks to the explanation from the staff member who welcomed me in the lobby. It hasn't been long since it opened, and having seen the thread, I was really satisfied with the space. This is my first time staying at a hotel for about ten days, but overall, I am satisfied. The breakfast was delicious, and I had a restful sleep in a quiet space. I was told there might be wind noise, but it was quiet as long as I kept the windows closed. I look forward to your next stay.

The facilities are great, the staff are friendly, and everything was wonderful. I brought my parents, and they were both very satisfied. It was incredibly clean. We booked a garden ocean view room, but having the pine trees in front of the ocean actually made the view even better. For reference, room 917 is the second-to-last room on the floor, and it offers a view of both the ocean and the pine trees. The bathroom was pleasant, and the toilet was automated. The air conditioning cooled the room down instantly. Check-in is officially at 3 PM, but they said if a room was available, they could do it at 2 PM. We arrived around 1 PM, and they had a room ready, so they let us check in for free at 1 PM, which was a huge bonus! I'm really happy with our stay and would definitely come back. For breakfast, you need to book a time slot the day before using Catch Table, and they give you a QR code at check-in. Hotel guests get a 5% discount, so it was 55,100 won per person. You pay for breakfast separately when you eat. The weather was a bit chilly, so we didn't use the pool, but there weren't many guests in May, so it looked spacious. We used the bar on the second floor, which has an unlimited wine program. I think it was 25,000 won, which wasn't a bad deal. There are also four elevators, so you never have to wait long.

Pros: The room was spacious and comfortable. As it's a newly built place, I was very satisfied with the clean bedding, towels, and all the facilities. There were a total of three large TVs – one in each of the two bedrooms and one in the living room – and the air conditioning worked perfectly, keeping the rooms cool. Most importantly, the refrigerator was large and kept things very cold. The beach was close by, the parking lot was spacious, and having convenience stores and restaurants nearby was a big plus. Cons: Although there's an electric vehicle charging station, it wasn't operational, so I had to use a fast charger elsewhere. It wasn't too far, but it might be difficult to use during peak season. We had a king-size bed room, but the bed was smaller than expected. While there might be a standard, it felt a bit cramped for a family of three with a child. Both key cards frequently malfunctioned. Swapping between the cards usually solved the issue, but it's not quite up to 5-star service. While towel and water replenishment, and room tidying were good, coffee and tea were not refilled. Due to what seemed like a staff shortage, it was difficult to reach the front desk. If you needed service, you had to either go down to the first floor or call multiple times. However, the friendliness and service of all the staff were definitely 5-star worthy (and satisfying).

The hotel is grand and there are four towers, with adequate facilities and friendly staff, the hotel is very comfortable and I would like to live here again in foreseeable future!

The view was incredible. You can see a beautiful Sokcho sea in the room. Highly recommend this place.

Overall, it was a fairly standard stay, saved by the brand reputation and great location, but the value for money was low. 2400 a night for a five-star hotel was indeed a bit pricey. I chose it because it's under the Banyan Tree brand, and there's a lot of hype about it on Xiao Hong Shu (Redbook), but the actual stay wasn't great. The front desk is on the second floor, and check-in was smooth. The staff's English was decent, and they spoke a little Chinese, though there weren't many Chinese guests there anyway. The room wasn't very big. The mattress firmness and size were reasonable, and the windows were floor-to-ceiling. The downside was that they couldn't be opened, so ventilation relied entirely on the air conditioning. Upon entering, there was a noticeable smell of fresh paint. Room service ended at 9 PM. The infinity pool is on the 21st floor, which seems to be the hotel's main selling point. Hmm... the good thing is the water quality is excellent, but the water temperature was too high. It would probably be great in winter. The pool isn't very large, and there's also a warm pool next to it. The lounge chairs were packed very tightly, probably mostly for sunbathing, and the flow of traffic felt a bit congested. Usage hours were from 8 AM to 12 PM. According to Korean law, children are not allowed in after 8 PM, which is pretty standard across Korea. Next, the worst part of the experience: the soundproofing was terrible. I could clearly hear guests walking and talking in the next room. We were woken up in the middle of the night after falling asleep, and it took two calls to the front desk and about 30 minutes for someone to come and speak to them. The room environment and service level truly don't match the brand and price! I hope they can improve, which is why I've offered these suggestions.
