A once-in-a-lifetime experience: a Spring Festival Antarctic trip! 17 days is considered the "basic" Antarctic itinerary, already dreamlike enough for those not into adventure. Personally, I feel a trip to Antarctica isn't complete without experiencing the Drake Passage, and thankfully, both the outbound and return journeys encountered relatively "gentle" 4-5 meter waves, which I managed without seasickness medication. This was my first time on an Antarctic cruise, so I can't make direct comparisons, but Pontopiles' cruise ships, in terms of both facilities and service, lived up to the hype on Ctrip, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu. Led by a handsome captain, we experienced a wealth of polar scenery and activities. Unlimited Wi-Fi on board was a big plus. Because the trip was quite far, I opted for a group tour. Ctrip and the travel agency, LaMeiTu, handled almost everything. Before the trip, they helped with visas, booked flights, and reminded us of important information. From the airport, LaMeiTu's tour leader, Hao Zhipeng, became our nanny, guide, photographer, translator, and more. Before the trip, I mentioned to the travel agency that we would be celebrating our wedding anniversary and birthday, not expecting much. However, our guide, Hao, specially brought supplies from China to decorate our room on the cruise ship. We celebrated our anniversary and birthday on board and even received a congratulatory letter from the captain – a very pleasant surprise and meaningful experience. Latino Travel is reliable.

Plus: some of the cruise service crew provided excellent service, there were several facilities onboard to cater to all ages, food was plenty and tasty, good experience at Naha, Okinawa; it has its own unique charm without the crowd. Minus: long walk to board the cruise at Shanghai, a real struggle for my elderly parents. Our first dinner at the dining hall was chaotic; no one informed us that we’ve been pre-assigned dining times until we reached our turn after queuing for quite some time. As we were one of the last passengers to board, there was no service staff on standby at the entrance to greet and assist us to our cabin rooms, we had to go high and low to look for the relevant service staff. Our cabin room was a bit cramp for three adults. Toilet within the cabin room can only fit one person at a time.

On the day of boarding, the flow of passengers disembarking and getting on board overlapped, causing everyone to crowd together with their luggage. Although the cruise company arranged large-scale performances every day, it was almost impossible to book a seat. I only managed to book one day out of four days. However, I managed to see a performance by queuing up on the last minute each day. There were far too many empty seats every day. There were no library or reading rooms provided. For those who wanted a quiet place to read, there was nowhere to go, especially since it rained every single day for the four days we were there. The staff were very enthusiastic and polite to the guests. My only minor regret was that they damaged the wheel rack of my suitcase. When filling out the damage report form, I felt their attitude towards compensation wasn't very good. It seemed like they were trying to avoid responsibility. This is just my personal feeling; I'll report back later on how they handle the compensation claim. Overall, I was still very satisfied!

The ship's shows are particularly beautiful, and the facilities are excellent. The staff are always smiling and welcoming. The food selection is plentiful and delicious, and meal times are arranged according to the day's itinerary, so you won't miss a meal even if you return late from your excursions. Shore excursions are rather rushed due to time constraints; those who mind this can consider choosing one attraction for independent exploration. Various entertainment performances are available daily from different locations on the ship, and the evening concerts at the grand theater are also excellent.

Frequently Asked Questions

You must carry a passport with an expiration date that meets the destination's requirements (usually valid for at least 6 months after the cruise ends; please refer to the actual boarding information), your cruise boarding pass (e-ticket or printed copy), and any visas required by all countries/regions on your itinerary. Depending on your nationality, other identification documents (such as a residence card or national ID card) may also be required. Please confirm the final requirements with the relevant embassies or consulates and the cruise line before departure.
Modern large cruise ships are equipped with advanced stabilizers and are routed to avoid rough seas, meaning most passengers never experience noticeable seasickness. If you are prone to motion sickness, consider booking a cabin on the mid-to-lower decks where movement is minimal. Other helpful tips include packing motion sickness medication, wearing anti-nausea wristbands, and getting fresh air on open decks. Note: Medication availability at the onboard medical center varies, so please check with your specific cruise line.
The vast majority of cruises automatically charge a fixed service fee to your daily cruise card account. For specific rates and collection methods, please refer to the information published by the cruise line after boarding. This fee typically covers basic gratuities for room service, dining staff, and more. Unless you wish to tip extra for exceptional service, additional cash tips are not required. We recommend consulting the cruise line's official guidelines when booking or after boarding.
Most international cruise lines use the US Dollar as their onboard currency. Upon boarding, you will link a credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) to your cruise card. The ship operates on a "cashless" system, meaning all onboard purchases (dining, drinks, shopping, service fees) are charged directly to your account and settled at the end of the trip. While you don't need large amounts of cash on board, we recommend bringing some small bills (USD or local currency) for minor expenses and tips at ports of call.
Usually, within an hour after leaving port, your phone will connect to a maritime roaming network, which carries extremely high call and data roaming charges (often exceeding US$ 5/minute). We strongly advise putting your phone in Airplane Mode and relying solely on the ship's Wi-Fi. Most ships offer paid Wi-Fi packages. Purchasing a voyage-long package is generally much more cost-effective than paying by the day. Some luxury cruise lines include basic Wi-Fi in your fare.
Every international cruise ship is equipped with a medical center staffed by at least one internationally certified doctor and nurse. They are fully capable of treating common illnesses (colds, gastroenteritis) and minor injuries. Please note: Onboard medical care is quite expensive, and the pharmacy has limited stock. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance with cruise medical coverage and packing an ample supply of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you regularly use.
After boarding, you must attend a mandatory safety drill (usually required to be completed within 24 hours). During the drill, you will hear the ship's dedicated alarm signal. Please immediately put on your life jacket (located in your cabin closet) and follow the evacuation route map on the back of your door to your designated assembly station. Please keep in mind: Do not use the elevators, follow the crew's instructions, and stay calm. Even if you have been on multiple cruises, you must participate in the drill on every new voyage. Please refer to the ship's on-site broadcasts and guidance for the specific signal and assembly location.

4-day, 3-night Sanya cruise trip

#Cruise Trip I was thinking of taking a cruise to Hea, but it turns out there are so many things to do, the whole trip is very busy! The ship includes three meals a day, so you won't feel hungry at all. Do some exercise in the middle of every meal, there are some hobby classes such as dancing, Muay Thai and crafts. In the evening, listen to a live band, watch a belly dance show, and have an exciting magic and acrobatic show! Encountering good weather on the boat made this trip plus 100 points, for the first time I felt in the middle of the sea, looking at a blue, and sunrise and sunset, a very profound picture!

Mokpo Samhakdo Cruise 🚢🌊

📍 Mokpo Samhakdo Cruise 🚢🌊 I took my parents on this trip, and they really said, "You did a great job!" 🥹🤍 Once you board the cruise and head out to sea, the Mokpo Bridge unfolds before your eyes, and from that moment on, the atmosphere is just incredible ✨ 🌅 If you time your ride to coincide with sunset, the sky turns orange, and the scenery connecting to the sea is truly cinematic. 🕊 With seagulls flying around and the cool sea breeze blowing, it feels like a healing experience just by sitting still. 🌉 As the sun sets, the illuminated Mokpo Bridge and the sparkling night view of the sea come together, transforming the atmosphere into something completely different. And the final highlight 👇🔥 🎆 Fireworks They explode right in front of your eyes on the yacht, so you can vividly feel everything from the sound to the light, and the sight of them filling the sky is truly overwhelming… Watching it with my family made that moment feel even more special 🥹 My parents loved it so much, so I highly recommend it as a trip for filial piety 🤍 ✔ Mokpo Bridge + Sunset + Night View + Fireworks all in one ✔ Suitable for families / parents / dates ✔ A must-do course when visiting Mokpo 📍 88-56 Samhak-ro, Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do ⏰ Sunset / Fireworks Cruise operating (Please check times) Search the business name on Naver ※ You can purchase tickets at a discounted price through Naver Reservations. Shekou Cruise Homeport

Shekou Cruise Homeport

📍 Where is it? The ferry departs from Shekou Cruise Homeport, located in the Nanshan district of Shenzhen. It’s one of the main ferry terminals connecting mainland China to destinations like Hong Kong and Macau. My destination that day was the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, located right on the Macau Peninsula. 🚇 How I got there Getting to the terminal was straightforward. I took the Shenzhen Metro to Shekou Port Station (Line 2) and followed the signs—within minutes, I was inside the cruise terminal. The building felt more like an airport than a ferry terminal: spacious, air-conditioned, and well-organized. Check-in was smooth. After collecting my boarding pass, I went through immigration clearance, which was surprisingly efficient. Within a short time, I was already waiting at the departure gate, watching ferries glide in and out of the harbor. 🚢 Boarding the ferry When boarding was announced, I walked through the gate and onto the ferry. The vessel was modern and comfortable, with airline-style seating, large windows, and overhead compartments for luggage. It felt more like boarding a short-haul flight than a boat. As the ferry pulled away from the terminal, I watched the skyline of Shenzhen slowly fade into the distance. 🌊 The journey across the Pearl River Delta The journey to Macau takes about one hour. Once we were out at sea, the ride became smooth and steady. I sat by the window, watching the endless stretch of water and the occasional cargo ships passing by. There was something calming about being surrounded by open water—no traffic, no noise, just the gentle hum of the ferry engine and the rhythm of the waves. Inside, passengers relaxed, some chatting quietly, others dozing off. There was even a small snack counter onboard, perfect for grabbing a drink or light bite. 🛬 Arrival in Macau Before I knew it, an announcement came on—we were approaching Macau. As we got closer, I caught my first glimpse of the city skyline, a mix of historic charm and modern casino resorts. We docked at the Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, and after disembarking, I followed the signs to immigration. The process was quick, and soon I was officially in Macau. #travel2026#travel#couplestrip#beachlife#staycation#naturalwonders#thingstodo#seascapes#familytravel#poolhotel#resorts#museums#myitinerary#citydaytours#china
