The environment here is absolutely amazing, and being able to soak in the hot springs was incredibly relaxing. Breakfast was decent too. However, there were some real pain points. First off, I knew the hotel was on a mountain and that there was a shuttle service. But I didn't realize the shuttle and pedestrians use the same road to go up, which felt quite dangerous. Secondly, the shuttle schedule was infrequent. The biggest issue was that due to a landslide, the later sections of the Izukyu Line were suspended. The hotel's car picked us up at Katase-Shirata, but they wouldn't drop us off there for the return journey. They clearly had a driver picking people up at Katase-Shirata, so why couldn't they just take us with them? Plus, the front desk wasn't clear about this when I asked. The hotel car could only shuttle us to Shimoda Station, which wasted our time. It was a complete rip-off!

This hotel is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk from Ito Station, right by the sea. There's a road downstairs, so be aware that if your room faces the ocean, you might hear traffic noise at night, which could be an issue if you're a light sleeper. Ito feels like a charming small town; it's not too crowded, and exploring the local shops and streets was quite enjoyable. The room was quite spacious for Japan, though the facilities were a bit dated, everything was still very clean. We slept directly on the tatami mats and didn't use the TV or anything. Note that they have two buildings separated by the road in front of the reception. They also offer hot springs and private baths, but we didn't have time to try them. For service, two elderly gentlemen handled our check-in, and they spoke English.

It was the best place where my wife and I had ever rested. And the hotel and the whole city of Shimoda is a paradise. We liked absolutely everything. And the hotel employee - Kaori, is an exceptional nature person. She gives her work 200% and is the heart of this hotel. Thanks to her scrupulousness, sensitivity and care, there was a feeling that my mother was taking care of us in the hotel. We will definitely come back again! We advise everyone to visit this city and this beautiful hotel at least once. Visit also Ebisu Island, but treat this place with great respect, please!

The hotel's bonus is that it offers a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 2:00 PM and a shuttle service from Shimoda Station after 8:30 AM. It's also a two-minute walk to Shirahama Beach, and there's a 7-11 across the street, making it convenient. The facilities are average. The room is indeed old. Few beach hotels in Japan have screens, so turning on the lights and opening the windows lets in flies. The bedding is also not very clean, it itches where it touches your skin. It's not the soft, fluffy, clean Japanese-style blankets. The lobby is also incredibly bare 🙂↔️ I've stayed at several hotels in Izu, but this is the only one that offers the same price for a single person and a couple. At 800 yen per night for one person in Shimoda during the off-season, not including breakfast and dinner, it's a bit of a steal. The washer and dryer looked grimy, but they were cheap. Washing clothes cost 200 yen, and drying clothes 100 yen. Lightweight clothes dried quickly by hanging them on a chair overnight. The front desk lady spoke Chinese, and the overall information was quite comprehensive. If you want to add a meal, you must order dinner before 16:00. There are two sets of meals: 4000 yen and 5000 yen.

The room was clean and tidy, with a charming traditional design and decor. Located near the beach, the long string of red lanterns along the path outside, along with the steam rising from the roadside and cherry blossoms, created a scene reminiscent of ”Spirited Away.” Breakfast and dinner were both plentiful. What deserves the most praise is the hotel service; they were attentive, warm, and very welcoming, offering us much help and care. Thank you!

I booked two nights and was quite concerned about the hotel's hygiene. After checking in, I actually found a pair of men's underwear in the bathroom! Thankfully, after communicating with the staff, they moved me to a different room, but my mood was already ruined, especially since hotel prices are already high during cherry blossom season, and then to encounter something like this. Furthermore, the hotel's facilities are quite outdated; both the desk and the vanity were rather basic. Also, they don't offer luggage storage after check-out. The hotel's location is decent, about a 100-meter walk from Atami Station. Overall, it's suitable if you're looking for a budget hotel, but if the price is high, I'd recommend considering other options.

This was my first time staying here. I really enjoyed the welcome drink in the lobby, which made waiting for check-in very relaxing. The entire room was impeccably clean, which I appreciated. The only minor thing was that the showers in the public bath weren't consistent in design or type. It wasn't really a problem, but since everything else was so clean, it just stood out a little. Overall, I'd definitely want to stay here again. Thank you!

The hotel is about 300 meters on foot from Imai-hama Kaigan Station, but it's not recommended for travelers with luggage as there's no elevator at this station. The hotel offers a shuttle bus to Kawazu Station, so be sure to check the schedule. I strongly advise against booking dinner with your stay, especially during the evening cherry blossom illumination. The hotel provides a shuttle service to Kawazu Station from 7 PM to 8:20 PM, which largely overlaps with dinner times.

We had an amazing 1 night stay at Shizentenyu... i'm still dreaming about the view from our room and the restaurant... amazing!!! We didn't realize that our room included a full 7-course set dinner menu, which was one of the highlights from our trip! The service was impecable, food delicious, and a huge thank-you to Alfie who guided us through our set menu in English. We would have been very confused without him. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, the Onsen lovely, we appreciated the lounge with free coffee, tea, beer, and popsicles. We also braved the steep walk down to the private beach and went for a refreshing swim! We wish we could have stayed longer!

Even though I didn't get to use the hot springs, the scenery here is absolutely breathtaking! The service was also excellent, and the breakfast was delicious. What really stands out is the location – you can see the ocean right from your balcony, and there's a pool too. It's incredibly good value for money! Plus, the room had no weird smells and was very comfortable. I'd definitely come back here if I get the chance.

GGuest UserThis hotel has a unique inclined elevator, like a mountain cable car, which is something you don't see in many places. There are also foot massage machines next to the lobby on the first floor, so you might want to give them a try if you have the chance.

GGuest UserThe room was spacious and quiet. The front desk staff spoke Japanese and English and were very friendly. The view was also great, with the ocean right outside the window. You could hear the sound of the waves with the window open, but it was well soundproofed when closed. It had two beds and a large tatami mat, which could fit two people, making it a room for four in total. There's free parking, and the hotel was clean. The shower and bedroom were separated, which was a nice touch. Very satisfied.

LLiza TokitaAmazing place to stay, aesthetic view and a great amazing dinner and breakfast ambience. I choose and booked the private villa with pool and which is good,I enjoyed the dinner foods they served us,so classy and elegant presentation. So I ordered the bottle of botega champagne which is fit for the foods they offered. Lovely it was and amazing wonderful evening. After we had a night pool with my partner and we bring our own foods and drinks champagne for the long night to celebrate our stay. I’m very satisfied for my stay at this place. Staff was really nice and good at their service. Perfect 👌 I love to came back again soon… Thank you so much 🤞🏻❣️

GGuest UserFirst of all, I would like to thank Ms. Yang at the front desk. Her sincere and enthusiastic introduction to the surrounding attractions and transportation was very helpful. Her attentive service definitely left a good first impression. The room was also very comfortable and clean, with all the necessary amenities. Our booked room had a private bath overlooking the sea, allowing us to relax whenever we wanted. Since we didn't have a car this time, it's about a ten-minute walk from JR Shimoda Station to the hotel. I recommend those with large luggage drive to the hotel or take a taxi. Regarding the meals, breakfast and dinner were both kaiseki cuisine, exquisite and plentiful. The only downside was that while dinner was different on the first two nights, it was the same on the third night, and we couldn't pay extra to change to other dishes. It felt a bit inflexible, but not a major issue. Overall, I would still highly recommend it!

ЮЮльчаIt's a bit far! But it's worth it Beautiful beach. They explained everything at the reception) booked a private Onsen. We swam in the pool at night ☺️ it's the best thing ever. The bar is open from 8 pm to 10 pm and the bartender Hiroku, who made us cocktails, an excellent gin and tonic for 300 yen - it's just a gift!!! Hiroku, greetings from the girls from Russia and thank you for the vacation!! The rooms are clean and cozy! You could leave your things after checking out and go to the beach BREAKFASTS! I have never had such breakfasts in any hotel in Japan)) omelet, vegetables, fruits, pancakes and unlimited coffee 🙏🥰 The view from the cliff is gorgeous 🥹 the Shirahama hotel is very cute and cozy! I recommend 🥲🙏 Unfortunately there was no transfer ((( But I would come back here again 😍✨🫠🙏

MMudkipLynnAn amazing place to stay with a location which is near lots of restaurants and even a grocery store. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach. Also there are private hot springs on the top floor which are constantly available and free to use! Loved this hotel very much and it made the stay at Atami very magical and memorable. Thank you for the great time!

GGuest UserI originally planned to go from Shimizu to Nagano, but later I felt that the journey was too tiring so I booked this hotel temporarily. The number of reviews is actually not usually considered by me. I was quite hesitant to make the bed myself after seeing the reviews about the taste. But considering the price and room size of Atami Hotel, I still think this hotel is good value for money. Actual stay experience: The sanitary conditions are in line with the expectations of Japanese hotels and are quite clean. In terms of transportation, it is a bit inconvenient. It is not far from the station, but because of the characteristics of Atami as a mountain city, it is very inconvenient to drag suitcases in the hotel south of Atami. I was exhausted with two suitcases on the first day, especially when I was in a hurry. The facilities are indeed old, but it's just like that after getting used to it. The small TV is a problem, but moving the table over, it's not bad for the family to watch TV at night. It's a bit troublesome to make the bed yourself, but it's also fun, and it's relatively easy to put on the quilt. In terms of service, the money I needed to pay was calculated incorrectly at the beginning, and I spent a lot of time at the front desk, and the attitude of the aunt with glasses was not particularly friendly, which is a minus point. Hot springs are a big plus. Self-service free booking is very convenient. You can scan the QR code to see where there are vacancies and go directly. If it is a day-return hot spring, the booking is very expensive. Overall, it is a good stay experience. It is like the Japanese apartment in Japanese dramas. The space is also open, and there is a microwave and refrigerator. It is worth recommending.
