Lotus Hotel (Lotus Resort)

Posted on Aug 25, 2026|270-Degree Scenic View Double Bed Room - All-Inclusive
CNGuest User
The room was excellent, boasting a 270-degree view. A highlight was the perfectly angled air conditioning that didn't blow directly onto the bed. The TV mount was adjustable, and the balcony was spacious. However, with a 270-degree room, there didn't seem to be a full 'ring' view, so the scenery mainly consisted of other rooms and the outside, which was still quite good. A little tip: choose a room that faces the hotel's main entrance. You can watch the fireworks from the balcony at night, and it's just as good as watching from outside. The service was excellent, with staff being very friendly and patiently answering all our questions. The rooftop bar was great, and they were able to make drinks not on the menu – we ordered 'See You Tomorrow' drinks for both today and tomorrow. Now, for areas of improvement: Upon check-in, no one introduced us to the hotel's various amenities and benefits. In this regard, it falls short of Disney, where they explain everything you can enjoy during your stay. Here, I only found out about ice skating, roller skating, and playing Switch after seeing them. I even had to ask where the restaurants were, though I admit I didn't do my homework beforehand. Also, in the 270-degree room, all six lights could only be fully on or fully off, which is inconvenient. Many families with children stay in these rooms, and it's common for adults to need to pack or get ready while the child sleeps. It would be better if the three lights near the bed could be turned off while the sofa area lights remained on. Furthermore, the second lamp by the bed, designed for aesthetics, was too low; I bumped into it when getting up in the middle of the night (there will be a photo). Finally, considering the significant price difference between room types, and the different colored wristbands (I'm not sure if they indicate length of stay or room type), I suggest further segmenting the privileges. For instance, restaurant seating is truly a scramble, and advantages for things like the Yuesha Island mini-train queue could be granted to certain room types.

The hotel's location is great, the environment is nice, and it's clean, but the service is very average. When I checked in, the hotel upgraded my room and told me that both rooms would receive two complimentary breakfasts since I'm a Platinum member. However, the next morning at the restaurant, the staff told us it was only one breakfast! We were really confused. There seems to be a serious disconnect between the front desk and the restaurant; the restaurant claimed they hadn't received any information about two breakfasts. It felt like they were just messing with us! In the end, we had to buy breakfast. It's not about the money, it's about integrity. Now I understand why their rating is 46 points!

Xilamuren Tourism Center

Here's the updated review with that additional context: Full Version We had a wonderful stay, largely thanks to one of the owners who went out of their way to organize activities for us and made our experience truly memorable. The dinner and show were fantastic—featuring original-style Mongolian traditional dance and singing that felt authentic and captivating. Both lunch and dinner were excellent, and we were especially impressed by the Lamb Bao served at breakfast. Overall, the service and warmth from the people were genuinely good. That said, all the costs were quite expensive compared to what I'm used to after living and traveling in China for more than 10 years. I would recommend the horse riding off the main area, as they suggest, but the Happy Ranch was not that fulfilling—most of the rides and activities there weren't worth the time or money. That's an external activity though, so no discredit to the hotel itself. While we didn't end up using the actual amenities, the hospitality and cultural performance alone made the visit worthwhile. Balanced Short Version (Google/TripAdvisor): Great experience thanks to one of the owners, who personally organized activities for us. The dinner and show were a highlight—original Mongolian traditional dance and singing that was unique and impressive. Food was excellent at all meals, especially the Lamb Bao at breakfast, and the staff were genuinely warm. Costs were quite high compared to what I'm used to after 10+ years in China. I recommend the horse riding off the main area as suggested, but the Happy Ranch activities weren't worth the time or money—though that's external, not the hotel's fault. Didn't use the actual hotel amenities, but the hospitality and performance were good.

This stay was absolutely fantastic! The hotel staff provided exceptional service, they were incredibly warm and friendly, making us feel right at home. The hotel environment was spotless and well-maintained, our room was pristine, and we had a very comfortable stay. The dining experience was also outstanding; every meal was delicious, with fresh ingredients that left a lasting impression. Every single staff member here was attentive and patient, always smiling, and went out of their way to meet guests' needs, making our trip even more enjoyable. Thank you to the entire hotel team for your wonderful hospitality! This was a truly memorable stay, and I highly recommend it to all visitors coming to Xilamuren. We will definitely be back!

Wilderness Retreat Arxan

I am a young Englishman on a 20 day solo self-drive road trip across northern Heilongjian and Inner Mongolia. After my stay in Hulun Buir, I decided to drive down to Arxan for 2 nights exploring. I booked this stay based off of the other foreign guests' positive experience. I arrived in the town late in the evening. The boss was waiting for me and was attentive and welcoming from the start. The room is very spacious and comfortable, and the temperature was just right. Everything is provided and replaced when needed. After hiking in the national park, I came back to the boss and his extended family making CNY preparations. Then I was invited to drink Chinese tea (Dian Hong) at their tea table. I was then welcomed to eat with the family, drink beer and eat until I was full. I was welcomed not just as a guest of theirs, but as a family friend. In mid-winter, Aershan/Arxan is a quiet and cold place. I came as part of a long journey taking my rented 4x4 Tank 300 through the snow and ice on routes apart of the Hulun Buir Snow and Ice Festival. My journey was peaceful, solemn and isolated. The hospitality and warm welcome was exactly what I needed after my long drive alone and it is a memory I will take home to the UK with me. I highly recommend this guesthouse, especially if you are travelling solo across this wilderness. Thank you brother. I look forward to returning in the near future with my partner, and when my mandarin is better.

This guesthouse was my first stop in Hohhot, and my stay was incredibly comfortable. The room amenities were complete, the hot water was reliable, and the internet speed was fast. The cleaning staff did a meticulous job, keeping the room tidy. The front desk service was particularly thoughtful; they even enthusiastically recommended local attractions and great restaurants nearby. The hotel environment was quiet and peaceful, not noisy at all, and coming back to the room after a day of travel felt incredibly relaxing. I genuinely recommend this place to anyone visiting Hohhot.

Fusha Island Resort (Xiangshawan)

I'm so glad we booked our stay inside the Xiangshawan Desert Scenic Area! It made everything so incredibly easy. Each room came with 6 bottles of water, and the air conditioning was already on before we even arrived. Even though it's a yurt, the interior space is very large, and the private bathroom is super clean. The hotel's services were all excellent. The all-inclusive meals were not at all superficial; each meal featured local specialties like lamb offal soup, savory milk tea, and plenty of beef and lamb. The quality was on par with outside restaurants, and we all agreed their milk tea was the best we had during our entire trip. After a fun day exploring the two islands, returning to the hotel wasn't boring at all. In the evenings, there were disco parties, firework displays, and stargazing. Every event was well-organized and very entertaining. It truly lived up to its nickname, 'Desert Disney'! Definitely worth the trip!

Few of the amenities listed on the listing page are available. Maybe they were at some point in the past long ago, but this hotel is far from in its prime. There is no sauna. The ”bath center” where this was has been converted into a commercial spa for a business unrelated to the hotel. There is no night club. There is no ”gym” as shown in one of the pictures. I believe a lot of the pictures shown on the listing page are years if not decades old. There is no ”boutique”. There is one tiny convenience store on the first floor. The hotel has a restaurant on the second floor. I only used it for the free breakfast which was good. The hotel largely focuses on catering to business events. They have meeting spaces and a big ornate looking meeting space. For normal travellers, this hotel is very bare bones. Service was great. The staff are friendly and helpful. The laundry is not self service. You need to pay per article of clothing for someone to take it. The room itself lacked a minibar, functional air conditioning, or a functional safe. It was very spartan. Would I come here again? Not for the listed price. Without any of the advertised amenities, I can't imagine this is much better than cheaper hotels in the area.

The smart room is okay, but drinks in the refrigerator are sold separately. The laundry room is really terrible, with only two washing machines, which is not enough. I went to the laundry room at around 7pm, and both were busy. I went back at 10:30pm, and both were still busy. It's a shame for such a large hotel to only have two washing machines. The Sheng Jingzhonghe next door is great though. 👍

I really enjoyed the charming courtyard setting; it felt very cozy and comfortable to stay in. We drove all the way from Ulanqab, and as we planned to visit Lvshuiliang the next day, we searched for nearby options and booked this guesthouse. It's a traditional rural-style courtyard, very clean and well-maintained. There weren't many other guests, and the room amenities were quite comprehensive.
