Hualin Temple

The existing stone slab corridors, mountain gates, corridors, east and west side halls, as well as greening and tree planting outside the hall were all completed after the main hall was restored in August 1988. The construction method of Hualin Temple is unique in the wooden architecture of Tang and Song Dynasties in my country. After research by Chinese and Japanese experts and scholars, the main hall of Hualin Temple has a huge influence on the architectural style of Kamakura period (the end of the 12th century) in Japan. It can be seen that Hualin Temple is also an important historical witness of Sino-Japanese cultural exchanges. Its main hall is particularly distinctive, with a height of 15.5 meters and an area of 574 square meters. There are 18 wooden pillars in it. Dougongs are used on the four eaves of the main hall and on the inner column heads, and the column capitals are supported by particularly thick dougongs. The beams and dougongs are made of seven paving, double copying, three lowering, and stealing hearts, which are in the style of Tang and Song Dynasties. The rationality and stability of this frame structure have made the main hall stand the test of thousands of years of wind and rain, and it is well preserved up to now. Although the main hall was repaired several times in the Ming and Qing dynasties, its main components are still the original millennium. If arranged according to the building age, it is listed in the main hall of Nanchan Temple, the main hall of Foxiao Temple in Wutai County, Shanxi Province, the Guangren Temple in Ruicheng County, Tiantai Temple and Dayunyuan in Pingshun County, and the main hall of Zhenguo Temple in Pingyao County. After that, it ranked seventh in the country. The first six buildings are preserved in the plateau area with a dry climate, and the main hall of Hualin Temple is an older wooden building south of the Yangtze River. In the temple, there is a remnant of the seal script of Zhao Gou, Gaozong of the Song Dynasty, and the "Hualin Temple Fragrant Lamp Monument" and "Linsen Memorial Hall Monument" by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty.
