Mountain waterfall + lake view lawn / A great spot for a family outing in Ningbo this autumn — traveler post in Ningbo

Mountain waterfall + lake view lawn / A great spot for a family outing in Ningbo this autumn

Autumn 🍂 brought us to Siming Mountain with the kids. We found the perfect place for a family outing. No strenuous hiking required; you can reach it just a few steps after getting out of the car. On one side, there's a cascading waterfall; on the other, a large lawn with a lake view. Looking out from the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, you see the lake and the mountains, like stepping into a landscape painting. The kids won't be able to sit still here ✨. With a sand pit, swings, slides, a tire trail, and opportunities to catch fish and play in the water, they can play for half a day and burn off all their energy. Adults can sit on the terrace, order a coffee, listen to the murmuring waterfall, and enjoy the mountain breeze, instantly escaping the city heat and relaxing. It's cool in the mountains in the afternoon, and the forest-style scenery makes for great photos. ✅ Remember to bring spare clothes, sand toys, and mosquito repellent for the kids. ✅ We recommend coming in the evening to avoid the harsh sun and catch a gentle sunset.

Weekend "lying flat" guide for the Yangtze River Delta! Hide away in these 6 small towns to cure your mental burnout — traveler post in Ningbo

Weekend "lying flat" guide for the Yangtze River Delta! Hide away in these 6 small towns to cure your mental burnout

When the weekend hits, you just want to crash, unwind completely, and stop treating yourself like a "commando" traveler rushing through an itinerary. The Yangtze River Delta is actually home to many small towns with a slow pace, beautiful scenery, and delicious food, naturally suited for a "lying flat" vacation. The following six places are so relaxing that once you arrive, you'll just want to zone out and won't even want to walk around. 1. Liyang: Soak in a bamboo forest hot spring and sleep until you wake up naturally If you want to unbind your body and mind, go to Liyang. The forest coverage here is impressively high, and the air is so good you'll want to take extra deep breaths. · Relaxing highlights: The main attractions are Nanshan Bamboo Sea and Yushui Hot Spring. Spend a day strolling slowly through the bamboo sea, surrounded by greenery, and take a small train when you get tired. You can also take a boat to the island in the Tianmu Lake Tourist Resort, with the lake breeze blowing the whole way. At night, you must soak in the hot springs. Yushui Hot Spring features open-air mountain-view pools, with 60 hot spring pools scattered among the bamboo forest. You'll feel completely relaxed after a soak. · How to slow down: There are many boutique homestays and teahouses in the Tianmu Lake Tourist Resort. Pick one that catches your eye and stay there; some have lake views and bamboo shadows right outside the window. For meals, try the casserole fish head, white celery, and black rice—all flavors grown from the mountains and water. · How to get there: It's located at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, with convenient transportation. It's a 2–3 hour drive from Nanjing, Hangzhou, or Shanghai. By high-speed rail, take it to Liyang Station, then it's just a ten-minute taxi ride away. 2. Jiande, Hangzhou: Spend a peaceful weekend in an ancient village along the river Jiande is right next to Hangzhou, with a river running through the city and beautiful mountain and water scenery. Come here to escape the heat in summer, or visit in other seasons for a quiet, poetic atmosphere. · Relaxing highlights: If you want a touch of Zen, go to Daci Rock to see the "Hanging Temple of Jiangnan" built against the cliff. If you love natural wonders, visit Lingqi Cave; the colorful stalactites in the cave have been a filming location for many movies and TV shows. Xinye Ancient Village has been on TV but hasn't been overly commercialized. The village is simple and unadorned, backed by green mountains with lotus ponds in front. It's very relaxing to stroll through the ancestral halls and wander the alleys. · How to slow down: No need to rush for two days. Spend the first day exploring the ancient village and stay in town at night; spend the second day enjoying the mountains, water, and caves. Snacks like Yanzhou baked cakes and Jiande tofu buns are worth trying, and dishes made with local ingredients are exceptionally fresh. · How to get there: It's a 1.5-hour drive from Hangzhou, making it one of the most worry-free routes in the suburbs. 3. Guangde, Anhui: Dive into the bamboo seas of southern Anhui and take a deep breath If you want to avoid the crowds and find a place few people know about, Guangde is perfect. It's located at the junction of three provinces, with a strong southern Anhui vibe, yet it doesn't get many visitors. · Relaxing highlights: This area is full of bamboo forests. Start by visiting the old train station ruins at Niutou Mountain to take some photos and touch the old times. Then, drive slowly along the "Bamboo Country Gallery" by Lucun Reservoir. The lake scenery follows you the whole way, like walking into a fairy tale. At the end is Jishan Bamboo Sea. There's no admission fee, and tens of thousands of acres of bamboo connect into a sea of green. · How to slow down: You can stay in the county town or at a homestay by the reservoir. Walk through the bamboo forest during the day and take deep breaths of clean air. In the evening, try a plate of authentic Guangde fried rice. Without the crowds of tourist attractions, the whole quiet area is yours. · How to get there: It's over an hour by high-speed rail from Nanjing and about a two-hour drive. It's very easy to come and go for the weekend. 4. Gaochun, Nanjing: Put away your watch in the "Slow City" old street Hidden near Nanjing is a designated "Slow City"—Gaochun. Once you arrive, the best thing to do is not to plan anything at all. · Relaxing highlights: Don't miss Gaochun Old Street. This 900-year-old street is full of old houses and local product shops, with a very rich sense of daily life. If you want to stretch your muscles, take a tour of the Water Slow City Wetland at Gucheng Lake. The water surface is wide, and you'll feel relaxed. Then walk a section of Youzi Mountain, and you'll have a day of relaxation. · How to slow down: No need to rush to attractions. Have a slow breakfast on the old street in the morning, and find a teahouse in the afternoon to sit and watch how the locals live. See rapeseed flowers in spring and eat hairy crabs in autumn—following the seasons is always the right choice. · How to get there: It's about a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Nanjing, perfect for a spontaneous weekend trip. 5. Changxing, Huzhou: Sleep in among the golden ginkgo trees If you want to spend autumn a little slower, Changxing is a top choice. Life in this county town is leisurely, and it puts on a golden coat in late autumn. · Relaxing highlights: Changxing's fame comes from its ginkgo trees. If you want peace and quiet, go to Kongwangjiao Temple first. Standing for a while by the 1,500-year-old ginkgo tree next to the hall will calm your heart. Around November, the ten-mile corridor of Badujie is the most worth walking—over 30,000 ginkgo trees stand along the ten-plus-kilometer road, all turning yellow at once, covering everything in gold. Sit on a mat in the fallen leaves, or just lie down and watch the light leak through the leaves, without thinking about anything. · How to slow down: Sit for a while at the Datang Tribute Tea Garden, leaning against the green mountains and tea gardens, and drink a cup of the tribute tea from back in the day. When hungry, find a small restaurant, have a bowl of dry-tossed noodles, paired with Taihu Lake crab or mutton noodles, and the day will pass just like that. · How to get there: It's over 20 minutes by high-speed rail from Hangzhou and about a two-hour drive from Shanghai, making it a great spontaneous weekend trip. 6. Tiantai, Taizhou: Zone out for an afternoon to the sound of temple bells Tiantai Mountain is in eastern Zhejiang. The mountains aren't very high, but they are full of stories everywhere, with ancient temples, waterfalls, and valleys connected together, making it very quiet. · Relaxing highlights: Guoqing Temple is an ancient temple from the Sui Dynasty. It's free to enter. The temple is filled with ancient trees, and the Sui Pagoda stands quietly. In summer, the shade is dense and cool. Sitting under the corridor and zoning out for an afternoon never gets old. If you like mountains and water, you can go to Shiliang Waterfall, where a natural stone beam spans across the stream, and the waterfall passes under the beam with a roaring sound. You can also go to Qiongtai Fairy Valley, where canyons and streams follow you all the way. · How to slow down: Don't pack your itinerary. Enter the temple in the morning, walk along the stream in the afternoon, and stay at a homestay at the foot of the mountain in the evening. Local snacks like bian shi and jiao bing tong are worth trying—simple but flavorful. · How to get there: It's about a two-hour drive from Hangzhou or Ningbo, and it's also very convenient to take the high-speed rail to Tiantai Mountain Station.

Soak in a mountain hot spring under the stars — traveler post in Ningbo

Soak in a mountain hot spring under the stars

Ninghai Shieryi Hot Spring Resort – Live by the stream, soak in the hot spring, and fall asleep to the sound of the water. I've always wanted to find a place where I could both soak in a hot spring and completely unwind. A friend recommended this place at the entrance of the Nanxi Hot Spring Scenic Area in Ninghai – Ninghai Shieryi Hot Spring Resort. It's located right at the entrance of the Nanxi Hot Spring Scenic Area, 18 km from Ninghai Station, about a 26-minute drive. The drive from the city to the mountains, with the sound of the stream getting closer, made me feel instantly relaxed upon arrival. The guesthouse is built along the stream. Opening the door, you're greeted by the sound of babbling water and the fresh scent of the mountains. The courtyard has a garden view, surrounded by greenery. Sitting on the porch, daydreaming, listening to the stream, and smelling the flowers, time seemed to slow down. The biggest surprise was the hot spring. The guesthouse has its own mountain hot spring. Soaking in the pool, surrounded by bamboo forests and mountain views, looking up at the starry sky through the rising steam—it was truly healing. After soaking in the hot spring at night and returning to my room, I felt warmed from the inside out and slept very soundly. I stayed in a garden-view king room. It was spacious, with a natural wood style, clean and refreshing. Opening the window revealed the courtyard and distant mountain views. Waking up to the sound of birds in the morning and pulling back the curtains to see nothing but greenery put me in a great mood. The guesthouse has a tea room. In the afternoon, brewing a pot of tea and sitting by the stream, watching the water flow slowly without a care in the world—this is what a vacation should be like. The afternoon tea was also thoughtfully arranged. The butler asked about my preferences in advance and prepared local snacks, paired with a pot of tea. Sitting in the courtyard and sipping slowly was so relaxing. As for dining, the guesthouse has its own restaurant. The dishes are made with local ingredients and taste very authentic, so there's no need to go looking for food elsewhere. The service was also very thoughtful. There was a butler to assist throughout the stay, who contacted me before check-in to confirm my needs and was always responsive during my stay. The most convenient part is the free parking, so friends driving here don't need to worry about parking at all. In terms of transportation, it's very convenient from Ninghai Station, just 26 minutes away. The Nanxi Hot Spring Scenic Area is right nearby, where you can soak in hot springs, go hiking, and see waterfalls. It's perfect for friends who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Overall, Ninghai Shieryi Hot Spring Resort is perfect for a short weekend getaway, a couple's trip, or just for those looking for a quiet place to soak in a hot spring and unwind. Tucked away along the expansive coastline of Songlanshan in Xiangshan lies a Song-style courtyard hotel, meticulously crafted over 12 years. As you drive into Chikan Village and follow the winding mountain road, clusters of all-wood, Song-style residences emerge from the forest. With white walls, dark-tiled roofs, upturned eaves, and winding corridors, every step feels like stepping into Liu Songnian's "Four Seasons Landscape Painting." The ethereal beauty of a thousand-year-old Song painting has come to life between the mountains and the sea. The hotel spans extensive grounds yet features only 31 guest rooms. Its low-density, enclosed courtyard layout maximizes both tranquility and privacy. Open the door to your room to find an expansive, luxurious layout, with a large, soft bed that invites you to lie down and unwind for days. Some room types feature private hot spring pools. As you soak in the warm water, listening to the mountain breeze rustling through the wooden eaves, all your fatigue will simply melt away. The grounds are dotted with elegant tea rooms, a library, and pavilions. Stroll through the property, and every view feels like a scene from a Song painting. Join an instructor to experience tea whisking, incense burning, and calligraphy or painting, or start your morning with a meditation session in the forest. This is more than just a quick photo op; it is an immersive experience into the refined daily life of Song Dynasty literati, allowing you to truly live like a Song person for a day. The dining experience is equally thoughtful, featuring a signature "Song Banquet of Mountains and Seas." During the National Day holiday, some people travel to cities where others live, to see the city life and the greenery of parks. We walked to Yuehu Park and found a spot by the lake at Yuehu Tea House, ordered a cup of tea, and just sat there. The weather was great, and there was a gentle breeze on the lake. Across the way, people were boating, including some in electric duck boats. The boats drifted slowly past us, with children on board looking incredibly excited. Some were taking photos, some were walking by the lake with their children, others were sitting down for tea and conversation, and a sanitation worker was rowing a boat, slowly scooping up trash from the lake surface. By the same lake, everyone had their own thing going on. We didn't have any special plans, not even a thought about "where to go next." We just sat there, watching the lake, watching the people, and watching the most ordinary afternoon in this city. You don't necessarily have to travel far during the National Day holiday. Sometimes, a cup of tea, a lake, and a few hours with nowhere to be is enough to feel like a vacation. 📍Ningbo · Yuehu Park 🍵Yuehu Tea House

8 hidden gem coastal spots to visit in Zhejiang — traveler post in Ningbo

8 hidden gem coastal spots to visit in Zhejiang

Zhejiang's coastline stretches over 2,000 kilometers, hiding countless breathtaking coastal views✨ Today, I've compiled 8 hidden gem spots, each worth a special trip to visit!📸 1️⃣ Xiangshan · Fantong Mountain 🎫 A free "Zhejiang version of Little Ili"! The mountain extends directly into the sea, with grassy slopes stretching all the way to the shore🌿 White windmills turn slowly, and the evening sunset dyes the entire sea surface gold, so gentle it touches your heart💛 2️⃣ Xiangshan · Nantian Island 🏝️ The largest island in Ningbo! It takes less than 20 minutes by ferry from Shipu Ferry Terminal~ The sand is fine and soft, perfect for camping and picnics! The 9-kilometer "Wind and Sand Line" coastal road connects the Dasha Scenic Resort and the Fengmenkou Island Forest Park, with scenery all along the way🛣️ 3️⃣ Wenling Shitang · Xiaoruo Village 🎨 The entire hillside is covered in macaron-colored houses! Pink, mint green, and goose yellow layers surge toward the sea💕 I recommend going in the early morning when there are fewer people and the light is soft; the whole village is as quiet as a watercolor painting that hasn't woken up yet~ 4️⃣ Wenling Shitang · Duijie Viewing Platform 💍 The double-ring suspended structure faces the East China Sea, offering a 270-degree view of the ocean! When the sunset sinks in the evening, the sea surface is paved with orange "metal foil," definitely one of the most romantic sunset viewing spots in Zhejiang!🌅 5️⃣ Cangnan · Yuliao Beach 🏖️ The largest pristine beach in southern Zhejiang! The sand is super fine; you can walk on the sand, go beachcombing, or ride jet skis! At low tide, you can even board the "Sea Music Island" to experience unique intertidal fun🎵 6️⃣ Ninghai · Ninghai Bay 🦀 Depart from Xiashan Pier in Qiangjiao Town, take a leisure fishing boat to pull crab cages, and enjoy a boat meal! The freshly caught crabs and shrimp are jumping in the cages, and boiling them in clear water on the boat is a delicacy🤤 The experience is top-notch! 7️⃣ Pingyang · Nanji Island 🐚 A "top-tier island" far from the mainland! The seawater is deep blue, and it has a rare shell sand beach that feels super soft and comfortable to walk on✨ The large seaside lawn at Sanpanwei faces the jelly-blue sea, and the sunrise over the sea of clouds is breathtaking!🌄 8️⃣ Taizhou · Dachen Island 🏔️ Jiawuyan, known as the "No. 1 Bonsai of the East China Sea," rises from the sea! The 2.5-kilometer Wushatou coastal cliff boardwalk offers a thrilling and stunning view of the sea from above! Steamed Dachen yellow croaker is rich and delicious, truly living up to the reputation that "no banquet is complete without yellow croaker"🐟 🌙 Take a walk by the pool in the evening and soak in a hot spring at night♨️ to end a wonderful day~ 💡 Helpful tips ✅ The UV rays are strong at the beach, so be sure to use sun protection ✅ Driving or renting a car is recommended for easy access to various attractions ✅ Remember to check the ferry schedule in advance for island trips~

Tianyige Museum

Tianyi Pavilion truly lives up to its reputation as the oldest existing private library in China, steeped in four centuries of scholarly tradition and brimming with cultural atmosphere. With its white walls, black tiles, pavilions, ponds, and rockeries, it's an elegant and tranquil Jiangnan garden. The Fan Family Library, the Qin Family Ancestral Hall, the ancient stage, the Mingzhou Stele Forest, and the Mahjong Origin Museum offer a wealth of attractions, with beautiful scenery at every turn. The garden is quiet and peaceful, perfect for a leisurely stroll and immersive historical exploration. The exquisite architecture and lush vegetation allow you to experience the rich cultural heritage of ancient books, and it's also a great place for taking photos. Definitely worth a visit when in Ningbo!

Tianyige and Moon Lake Scenic Area

Stepping into Tianyi Pavilion, the strongest impression isn't of a bustling, trendy tourist spot, but rather a quiet, profound atmosphere, imbued with the tranquility of a scholarly atmosphere. The guided tour was incredibly vivid and detailed; a guided explanation is essential to understanding the historical and cultural origins of this type of museum.

Ningbo Songlanshan Coastal Tourist Resort

The sea here is incredibly clear, a vibrant blue like a giant sapphire, and the sand is so fine it feels like walking on cotton. The Asian Sailing Center's architecture is also very distinctive, perfect for taking amazing photos. Highly recommended for anyone looking to relax and unwind!

The Old Bund

This trip with my two children on the Three Rivers Night Cruise was definitely a delightful surprise. The cruise departs from the Old Bund Wharf, a 50-minute journey traversing the Yaojiang, Fenghua, and Yongjiang rivers. Over ten bridges, including Lingqiao and Qinqiao, are brightly lit, and the reflections of the Corn Building and the Catholic Church on the river create a dreamlike atmosphere. The cabins are spacious and stable, so there's no need to worry about the children getting bumped or hurt. Stepping onto the deck and enjoying the summer night breeze is incredibly pleasant. The onboard audio guide narrates Ningbo's history in a captivating way, which fascinates the children and provides them with a glimpse into the local culture. The overall pace of the trip is relaxed and not tiring. The only downside is the short queue for boarding during peak season. Enjoying the blend of ancient and modern scenery on both banks while feeling the evening breeze is a fantastic family experience and definitely worth a visit to Ningbo.

Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek

Those who enjoy modern Chinese history should definitely visit this place. You can learn about Chiang Kai-shek's ancestral home and relatives. There are four locations, including Chiang's former residence and Wenchang Pavilion. The streets are bustling with many food stalls.

Xikou-Tengtou Scenic Area

Xuedou Mountain Scenic Area boasts beautiful scenery, with mountains, water, and the Great Maitreya Buddha. Chiang Kai-shek's former residence is full of the charm of the Republic of China era and is worth a visit. I bought a combined ticket for the attractions; you scan it before entering each individual attraction, and it includes the shuttle bus within Xuedou Mountain, which was generally reasonable. The only downside was the cable car down and back from Qianzhangyan, which was a bit expensive. Currently, the small train is out of service; the main attraction after going down is the waterfall. The waterfall is quite spectacular. A round-trip cable car ride of 30 yuan per adult would be much more cost-effective, since the lower section is temporarily closed and you can only return.

Dongqian Lake

Dongqian Lake Scenic Area is very large. A day's bike ride on an electric scooter, going counter-clockwise, covers 32 kilometers. Because the scenic area is so large, I think there are two main ways to experience it. The first is to take the subway from Ningbo city center to and from Dongqian Lake. You can either cycle the entire area or focus on specific spots. The second, and also recommended, option is to drive there, rent a car, or rent an electric scooter. I suggest finding a hotel near the lake, whether it's a budget chain or a four- or five-star hotel. Personally, I recommend staying at the Hilton Hotel, or looking for a lakeside café in Limin Village. These kinds of guesthouses cost between 400 and 600 yuan. Alternatively, you can stay at a Home Inn near the Dongqian Lake subway station for around 200 yuan. The best way to experience Dongqian Lake is to explore several cafés, whether you want to spend money or simply enjoy a relaxing experience. You can leisurely sit there, enjoy delicious food, chat with friends, or simply daydream for an afternoon. Then, if you wish, watch the sunset or sunrise before going out for a bike ride, or simply take a taxi to Hanlin Old Street or climb the mountain to overlook Dongqian Lake (where your name is located). Overall, it's a fairly pleasant place to visit; there's no need to rush. It's more suitable for a genuine vacation than a special forces trip or a checklist-style tourist experience.

Xiangshan Global Studios

I went on the 6th of the National Day holiday, and surprisingly, it wasn't crowded. The park is large and spacious. The weather was sunny and the flowers were in full bloom. There were many interactive activities, making it lively and fun. However, I felt the selection of food and drinks was rather limited.

Her sweet voice effectively engages the audience, and she uses simple and easy-to-understand language to recount historical events. I highly recommend everyone choose Cola.

The entire venue is indoors, so rain or heat won't affect your enjoyment; the attractions include both thrilling rides and family-friendly activities for younger children; there are also parades and stage performances, creating a great atmosphere; perfect for taking photos.
