Qu Yuan Cultural Park, located in Qu Yuanci Town, Miluo City, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, is a site commemorating Qu Yuan, a famous ancient Chinese poet. Covering approximately 1,000 acres, the park integrates natural landscapes, cultural attractions, and leisure activities, making it the only national-level Qu Yuan Cultural Park in China.
Upon entering the park, the first thing that catches the eye is the main architectural complex of the Qu Yuan Temple. It consists of 11 individual buildings: the gate tower, the opera stage, the main hall, the sleeping quarters, the east wing, the west wing, the memorial archway, the Dragon King Temple, the kitchen, and the stables. These buildings are arranged along a central axis from east to west and are all ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
The main architectural complex of the Qu Yuan Temple adopts a typical Jiangnan garden layout, with the opera stage at its center. Along the central axis are the gate tower, the main hall, and the sleeping quarters. East and west wings connect the gate tower and the main hall, while the memorial archway connects the main hall and the sleeping quarters. The entire layout is compact yet layered, reflecting the spiritual essence of Qu Yuan culture.
Besides the main building complex, the Qu Yuan Cultural Park also features Dragon Boat Lake and a Dragon Boat Culture Museum. Dragon Boat Lake is one of the park's core attractions, a wide expanse surrounded by verdant mountains and trees, offering beautiful scenery. Three dragon boats, each approximately 20 meters long and 4.5 meters wide, are on the lake. Their hulls are woven from bamboo strips, and their sails are made of silk, displaying elaborate decorations that reflect the traditional custom of dragon boat racing along the Miluo River.
In addition, the Qu Yuan Cultural Park also features a statue—"The Elegance and Reflections of the States." This sculpture, themed around Qu Yuan, showcases his sentiments expressed in the "Elegance and Reflections of the States." The 25-meter-high sculpture, cast in brass, is beautifully crafted, dignified, and elegant.
