Tainan is one of the six "municipalities directly under the Central Government" in Taiwan Province of China. It is located between 22°55 ′ 0″ -23°5′ 12″, and 120°3′ 0″ -120°14′ 10″ in the east. It is located in the Jianan Plain in southwest Taiwan, west of the Taiwan Strait, east of the Alishan Mountains, north of Chiayi County, and south of Kaohsiung City. It is an important agricultural and sugar production area in Taiwan.
