    Dotonbori cutting の gongs

    Original Text

A monument to honor Doton Yasui, who excavated Dotonbori. I didn't know about a person named Dotonbori, but it seems to be a relative of Dotonbori. There is a large monument in the square in front of the duty-free shop right next to Nihonbashi over Dotonbori, so it stands out.

A stone monument with Do hall 々

    Original Text

It is very close to Nihonbashi on the actual bridge. Doton and Dobo are said to be relatives, and as you can see from the name, Doton was a person who originated from the name of Dotonbori and even put private property into excavation work. It is a achievement that remains in posterity that can be seen that a magnificent stone monument is built.

Doton threw materials to cultivate the area. After Doton's death, he recommended regret and the improvement of the river, and Tadaaki Matsudaira, the first Lord of Osaka Castle, praised Dotonbori for his achievements and named it Dotonbori. In 1914, in commemoration of the fact that Dotonbori Dobo was awarded jugoi (junior fifth rank), this stone monument was located in Dotonbori's residence by local volunteers ...

the man who dug the dotonbori.

    Original Text

He was active during the Toyotomi period as the founder of Dotonbori. However, he was involved in the Osaka Natsunojin and died in the battle. The stone monument in Nihonbashi Kitazume is large, so it is a good landmark.
