Sunset Peak

Sunset Peak or Tai Tung Shan (Chinese: 大東山) is the third-highest peak in Hong Kong and the second-highest on the island of Lantau. It is situated within the Lantau South Country Park and the Lantau North Country Park and stands at a height of 869 meters above sea level. The second-highest of the territory and the highest on the island, the Lantau Peak, is located to its west.

Difficulty: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dadong Mountain is located in the south of Lantau Island, formerly known as Dalu Mountain, with a high altitude of 869 meters, and is the third highest mountain in Hong Kong. Dadong Mountain has high pillars, Dadong Mountain is traditionally famous for the sunset landscape, and the beauty of mango grass in late autumn has been hyped in recent years, attracting a large number of tourists to the top every November to December. Dadong Mountain is located on Lantau Island, the third highest mountain in Hong Kong, and it is a great place to watch mango grass, sea of clouds and sunset scenery! The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, and the difficulty of climbing is not high. If you are interested in traveling the mountain, it is worth it!

I love starting from Nam Shan Campsite, and hiking up to Sunset Peak, via Yi Tung Shan, and through all of the huts which are built just below Sunset Peak.Then, we finish with the descent to Pak Kung Au, total of 6.6 to 7.3 km (not sure with the GPS…).You could continue and hike up to Lantau Peak (another challenging hike, but very rewarding with amazing scenery!!)

There is also a cow not to miss when you come to Dadongshan. It is just wandering around the mountain where you are going up the mountain. If you go up the mountain at night, you may be scared, but you will find this very interesting scenery during the day.

Today, the weather in Dadongshan is bright, there are not many people, and after more than two hours, it will reach the rotten head camp, and then the original road will be turned back.
