Show More ReviewsMount Tampa is a forested mountain to the east of the city. In the 1950s, when Brasov was named Orasul Stalin (Stalin City), trees were removed so that Stalin's name would appear on the slopes facing the old town. Since then, the forest has grown back and the slopes have become a nature reserve. Several trails reach the top (940m) and take about an hour. You may see a variety of wildflowers, birds or small mammals on the way. A cable car allows easy access to the top from the city center; from the upper cable car station to 400m behind the Brasov sign, to the top of the rocky mountain (955m), the best views of the town are available. The trails are accessible at any time and there is no entrance fee. The cable car is open from 9:30am - 4pm (closed on Mondays) and the round trip ticket costs 16 lei.
