Shackleton Experience

The Shackleton Experience is located in Athy, County Kildare, Ireland, and is an immersive museum dedicated to polar explorer Shackleton, about a 40-minute train ride from Dublin. The venue consists of a 300-year-old former town hall and a modern glass extension shaped like an iceberg. It displays over 200 expedition artifacts, with highlights including Shackleton's actual cabin, sled, diary, and ship models from the Quest. Using AR and audiovisual equipment, visitors can relive the legendary Endurance expedition story: after the ship was crushed by Antarctic ice, Shackleton saved all 28 crew members through exceptional leadership. This is an ideal place for families and students to learn about courage and teamwork.
