This mosque is also commonly known as the Alaaddin Mosque or Ulu Camii (meaning "Grand Mosque"). In addition to its function as a mosque, the complex includes an Islamic school, lodgings for Mevlevi dervishes, and the mausoleum of Nigar Hatun. The minaret, adorned with dark blue tiles, serves as a prominent local landmark and was officially inscribed as a Turkish World Heritage site in 2016.
