Top Experiences & Travel Essentials in Sapporo

Sapporo is located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, and stands out with its grid-like city layout and Western-style architecture, which is a legacy of 19th-century urban planning during the Meiji era. Sapporo knows how to do winter right. When the snow falls, ski resorts buzz to life and the Sapporo Snow Festival turns downtown into a glowing world of ice and creativity. Some of the best things to do in Sapporo include catching sweeping views from the Sapporo TV Tower, strolling through Odori Park, and, of course, sipping a cold glass of Sapporo beer, brewed right where it all began.

Reviews: Hokkaido Noboribetsu Hell Valley + Lake Toya + Showa Shinzan Day Trip (Japan)

All the attractions were absolutely beautiful! The itinerary was very well-organized; I don't know how much time it would have taken me to go on my own. Our tour guide, Ms. Liu Sheng, provided detailed and patient explanations throughout the day trip, sharing a wealth of historical, geographical, and cultural knowledge, which was a pleasant surprise and added a lot of enjoyment to the journey. Thank you, Ms. Liu Sheng, for your excellent service!

Wonderful tour and great snowmobiling experience (JPY20000/2 pax/snowmobile or JPY15000/pax/snowmobile, extra payment in cash only). Get to taste some local farms milk-based products (yogurt, pudding and gelato). A great trip!

Both snowmobiling and the bear ranch are worth experiencing. Before setting off, I thought they were similar, but in the end, I went to both. Snowmobiling is better with one per person (15,000 yen per snowmobile, cash only). At the bear ranch, it's 1,000 yen per person, and food is 200 yen per bag, also cash only. You can bring apples—I love their apples—it's really cool! The itinerary is a bit hardcore, so buy plenty of convenience store snacks to eat on the go.
Reviews: Jigokudani, Lake Toya & Otaru Full-Day Tour

The itinerary was well-planned, but it would have been even better with ten more minutes at lunchtime (the time spent at Mount Usu could have been reduced by ten minutes). The scenery was beautiful, Jigokudani (Hell Valley) was breathtaking, and the bears were adorable! Our guide, Helen, was very responsible and professional, introducing the various attractions and Hokkaido's local customs and culture to us in Chinese, Japanese, and English throughout the trip – she was truly impressive! If I choose a group tour to Japan again, I will definitely choose HIS's products again.
