PROS: Unbeatable central location in Hiroshima with large, clean rooms and great views of the city. The rooms were reasonably priced. CONS: This hotel is extremely dated and ultimately this impacted on the comfort of our stay - neither of us slept well on any night due to very old bed/pillows. They were also strict about their 15.00 check in time (seemingly regardless of whether our room was ready or not). This led to unnecessary queues from 15.00 onwards. Overall, would book elsewhere if staying again for more than 1 night in Hiroshima.

Great location by the Inland Sea, and for departures to Miyajima Island, but 30 minutes from the city highlights. Club Lounge food choices were poor - little variety, and very plain. No Japanese choices. Buffet was great, in a top floor location with an amazing view.

Good points: 1. Location is amazing since it’s right on the island and everything is within walking distance. 2. We had breakfast and supper included in the stay. Food was varied and plentiful for most palates. Plenty of fruit and veg too. 3. Staff for 98% of the time was great. Language barriers are expected. Google translate is a perfect alternative to the translation issue. The front desk staff were awesome and was extremely helpful. 4. Room is spacious for a traditional Japanese hotel. We had our own onsen which was delightful. The beds were mostly comfortable and we had two full mattresses pushed together creating a massive king! 5. Once you enter the hotel you must take off your shoes and the hotel provides house slippers which generally fit most people. The lobby has shoe cubbies for your shoes. They do not lock, but Japan has very little petty theft so you don’t need to fret over potential thievery. Negative points: 1. This is of no fault of the hotel, rather it’s a Google maps problem. Be aware Google maps will basically have you climb the mountain and drag your suitcase through a dirt path. Instead put in the Miyajima post office and with the water to your right, turn up to the small road with the post office to your back. Keep going straight for about 2.5 city blocks and you’ll walk right into the hotel. Much easier than the 40 minute hike we took. 2. Restaurant staff on the whole were great. Only issue was this morning when we went to breakfast this morning and tried to sit in our usual table, the staff tried to sit us with some other people. I asked if we could sit at a different table and the individual said no and walked away. We didn’t know these people they tried to sit us with. However, they were tourists like us. I was frustrated because the staff member just walked away from us when I was still speaking to him. Very rude! 3. The toilet room smelled really bad. It was a combination of mold and chemicals.

Staff very friendly, engaging in small talk, specially when they see you are wait for example at the reception. Great breakfast choice, egg station. You can order to table some extra drinks like mango juice and waffles. Executive lounge located on 22nd floor, also great views. Lounge looking nice, with tables quite cramped. As far as food is concerned, I think one of the best Hilton lounges I recall. Choice of number of small sandwiches, cheese, cold meats, salads, beef stew, sweets etc. Swimming pool, dry sauna and large jacuzzi available.

It is a modern hotel with a rebranded feeling. The interior is also renovated beautifully, but I was also worried that it was sacrificed by several concept priorities. The front desk is on the top floor, but there are few elevators, so people who go to the front desk and people who go to the room are always waiting. There is no front desk staff in the midnight zone, and when I checked out at AM5 to catch an early morning flight, there is no key recovery box that I heard that it was installed in 1F, and it is wasted to the front desk on the top floor and back in the back I was excused by the sleeping staff who would have been sleeping, and I couldn't feel it from the morning. 1F is a fashionable Italian restaurant, and there are many uses other than hotel users, but there is no accommodation privilege, and there are a large number of insects in the plant near the open table outside.

There are Hiroshima Okonomiyaki restaurants near the hotel, and the Atomic Bomb Dome area is less than a 20-minute walk away, and the tram station is also nearby, making it great for walking around town. The bed making in the room was clean, and the bed was neither too hard nor too soft, which is subjective, but it was a well-balanced bed. Perfect location for the main sights of Hiroshima - we walked to them all from the hotel but if you want to get the loop bus, there’s a bus stop right outside the hotel. Room was well sized and very clean and comfortable although probably a little dated. The view was our room was very special though! A final bonus, a free happy hour for guests on the top floor! Staff were all really friendly :) I would stay here again.

I searched under the condition of ”no smoking, breakfast, high evaluation, cheap”. Oriental Hotel Hiroshima was a good condition that it was cheap at this price and there was a discount on coupons. The private car woke up at the workplace and went to the hotel on foot (the hotel parking lot was 1500 yen). It is a high-rise hotel in Hiroshima but a bit plain. If Liga, ANA, Prince and Sheraton are the leaders of Hiroshima, it is a hotel that will come next. When I requested a ”good view room” at the front desk, I upgraded the 16F room in the W corner room with the view bus at a little extra charge. It will be a sharp decrease in guests due to corona virus vortex. This is an old hotel in Hiroshima. The lounge on the top floor is also available at 々, and 1F has a few French restaurant OZAWA in Hiroshima, and until recently, there should have been a lot of domestic and foreign customers. A little looking forward to seeing what it is now. The room has a green door with an accent, wooden brown on the wall of the castle, and a deep blue carpet on the floor. A red sofa with two hangers. The subway to hotel is convenient but no lift is a drawback. The hotel room is small but clean. The self laundry service is also user friendly (washing powder or detergent comes with the services). It’s a good option for short stay.

The rooms are not large compared to so-called ”long-established inns.” However, the view from the sea side room is spectacular! The food and hot springs are also great! I was able to spend a blissful time enjoying various free services. The steak and fresh fish for dinner (half buffet) are also of acceptable quality. The only thing that bothered me was that the breakfast menu was a little salty. (Maybe it's just a way to make you feel delicious, but...) I would definitely like to stay at this hotel again.

I first visited Miyijima in 2011, as a day trip from Hiroshima (like most people). This time I knew I wanted to stay for a couple of nights on the island - which proved to be a great decision as the island is so enchanting in the evening once most of the tourists have gone back to the mainland. Most of the accommodations on the island are Japanese in style, and so it’s an obvious place to get the full Japanese experience. Unfortunately I struggled a bit to find somewhere to book, as many traditional-style places don’t accept solo travellers, however the Miyajima Grand Hotel Arimoto did and so I booked it. I booked a Japanese/western style room, which had twin beds plus a large tatami mat area where additional guests could sleep on futons. The room was large, although the bathroom was very small. My room came with a large outside balcony area (by the looks of it only a couple of rooms get this - it’s not the norm) with a swing seat overlooking a side view to the Tori gate. This was a really lovely place to sit in the evenings. The staff were very helpful, and I had a lovely personal and detailed introduction to the room, which can’t have been easy for them to do in English! One of the main features of a ryokan-style stay is the food, which is plentiful, extravagant, intricate and (to us westerners) very unusual. They accommodated my request for no shellfish with no issues. You have to be a bit of an adventurous eater (by western standards) as many of the flavours and textures are very unusual. Not all were to my taste, which is to be expected, but regardless the meal was a fantastic experience that I will never forget. The second night was a completely different menu, which they tailored to my request to include more meat (the Hiroshima beef was delicious). I was served by some lovely ladies who explained each of the 12 courses to me. The Japanese breakfast is similarly extravagant, although I did opt for the western breakfast on my second day which was lovely. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a traditional ryokan-style experience on the island. I would certainly return to it.

I arrived late on my arrival day and the staff told me they are closing the door 24.00 pm. It was quite a walk from the ferry terminal to the hotel (i guess about 20 min. walk with my luggage). Later i found out they have a free shuttle service -.- . Anyway staff at the reception and in the dining room were very nice and the room was ok. Everything clean as expected and a small Miyajima souvenir are waiting to be eaten^^. The bath area was small and good, as was the air in general on that island. After chek in you get a yukata and the key to your room. One thing i felt sorry about; Staff worked until 24.00pm, just to start working again at 5 a.m. .Thats not ok. As a result, an email i send earlier about changing my room was overseen. I am not mad about it, since i arrived late anyway. But for gods sake,let the staff at least get some rest between the shifts lol.

I went to Miyajima on a family trip and used it for the first time. Felt welcomed by the hotel staff, shared rooms have properly divided beds. Fully equiped with basic amenities such as shampoo, body gel, towels, lockers... The lounge was full of books to read (tourism books, novels, manga...) and is tastefully decorated. Family-friendly place. Close to the local train line that travels to Miyajimaguchi harbour (Ferry to the island) in barely 6 minutes. Great experience overall.

Near the pier, up a hill, the environment is quiet, the bathhouse is not big, and fortunately there are not many people. The breakfast is exquisite. Some of the waiters are from Taiwan, so communication is no problem. From the rooms on the sixth floor of the hotel, you can see the old ruins of Miyao Castle on the key mountain (the site of the Itsukushima Battle), and you can see the large torii gate from the side, and the view is acceptable.

Stayed 4 nights in semi-double room. Room is located a couple minutes outside the train and bus station but we had a little trouble finding it since part of the facade was covered for renovation work. It is a grand, old-fashioned hotel but it is well-maintained and nice that the ”old” touches are still there (telephone in the bathroom, coasters for drink glasses). Positives: room was large and functional. I believe all the rooms that face the castle are even larger. There was plenty of space for our luggage and it was great to have a decent table as well as a desk space to work from. Wired internet and wifi worked well. We tried both the Japanese and the breakfast buffet - both delicious. As other reviews have noted, the French toast is especially scrumptious! Also nice that the breakfast lasts a little longer than in most hotels. Negatives: old-fashioned but most of Fukuyama seems from the same era. Housekeeping was generally excellent but on one day, our room hadn't been made up and it was already 3:30 pm. Overall, a great place to stay in Fukuyama.

The bed was very nice and the room environment was also very nice. It was so nice to stay again because the bed was better than ever!! There are a lot of chains, but it was so good that I wanted to go again! The downside is that the location is far from the station, but the price is reasonable, so I highly recommend it!

It is an old-fashioned small business hotel near the station at the north exit of Fukuyama Station. I chose it with good access to Fukuyama Castle and restaurants area. It was a bit old, but the cleaning was well done and the room was beautiful. The receptionist was polite, kind and serious. Convenience stores are also in front of you, there is no restaurant, but Fukuyama Station UCC has breakfast, and there is no inconvenience at all. Parking is available nearby at ２ places, ５００ yen.
