On the second day of Zhongwei, we stayed at the Mercure Hotel with Star Lake View Resort in the Wild. I didn't expect the service of this hotel to be so good! My girlfriend and I came to Zhongwei to play. We were carrying a large suitcase. The boss sent a car to pick us up to the hotel for free. During the summer peak season, it was not easy to take a taxi. When we checked out, we also arranged a car for us in advance. We also presented two bottles of drinks for us to drink on the road. The hotel's evening activities are particularly rich, with a bonfire party and fireworks show. We enjoy the beautiful scenery of the camp under the galaxy starry sky, which is very romantic.

This is the best desert guesthouse I've ever stayed at! The owner is a local, and someone came to pick us up as soon as we arrived at the parking spot, always on call. The bonfire party at night was lively, and the fireworks were beautiful. We stayed in a cabin, which was clean and had air conditioning, so it wasn't cold at night. The standard room had two large beds, more than enough for four people! My friends had a blast. I chose this hotel because of the free airport pickup and drop-off service, which was a decisive factor for me. The butler contacted us in advance and arranged the pickup, even sending us a small guide and restaurant recommendations, which were all very clear. The hotel environment is also excellent, the driver was very friendly, and the room was super comfortable. I do have a small suggestion though: there seemed to be too few trash cans. It would be much more convenient if the small tabletop bins were replaced with larger ones. The hotel breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and there was also complimentary late-night congee available, so if you don't feel like going out in the evening, you can easily have a satisfying meal here. The surroundings of the hotel are also lovely; on a clear night, you can even enjoy moon gazing. Overall, I give my stay a full 5 stars.

Extremely satisfied with this trip! The hostess contacted us in advance, and her attitude was thoughtful and lovely. She informed us that the room might not be big enough and upgraded us, also asking if we'd like to order meals. Since our itinerary was quite tight, we didn't order food this time, but we should definitely try it next time. The B&B's environment was a wonderful surprise, located amidst a large vineyard. A short bike ride away, the entire Helan Mountain range appears before your eyes. The restaurant also offers an unbeatable view. The tour of the winery was a nice addition too. Overall, there's so much waiting for everyone to discover. I regret only booking for one day; a more leisurely stay would have been even better.

The campsite environment was much better than I expected—quiet and stylish! During the day, I could see the desert sands, and at night, the starry sky; I felt completely relaxed and free. The tents were clean, tidy, well-designed, draft-proof, warm, and fully equipped.

I chose this hotel for my business trip! The location is excellent, the rooms are spacious and bright, and the ventilation is great. The staff are friendly, and check-in and check-out are quick. Overall, a fantastic experience, I'll definitely stay here again!

The biggest surprise of my trip to Zhongwei was staying at the Xiang Tengger Desert Hotel. Deep in the Tengger Desert, far from the hustle and bustle, the dedicated shuttle service made check-in hassle-free, saving us the trouble of driving into the sand ourselves. The rooms were clean and dry, which is quite rare for a desert environment, and the facilities exceeded our expectations. During the day, we enjoyed playing on the sand dunes, with plenty of activities like sandboarding and other desert adventures that kept the kids entertained. In the evening, we waited for the stunning desert sunset, and after dark, there was a bonfire party and fireworks. Looking up, we could see the brilliant Milky Way – the atmosphere was absolutely incredible. The staff were warm and attentive, quickly resolving any issues we had. Overall, it perfectly blended wilderness adventure with comfort, making it ideal for a family trip. If I ever return to the Zhongwei desert, I'll definitely stay here again.

The pickup service was a nice touch, and the room was kept very clean. The service overall was good, but the facilities are really old. When walking down the hallway, the floorboards creaked, which was annoying. The pillows were incredibly uncomfortable, and the hot water was inconsistent – it kept fluctuating between hot and cold when I was trying to bathe my child. The faucet in the sink also splashed a lot.

A very new hotel with larger-than-life rooms and beds that feel like apartments. The location is midway between Shapotou and Zhongwei City, so it may not be ideal for some looking for nightlife, but there are several inexpensive restaurants in walking distance, so it's easy enough to get food. The bus stop of number 2 going to the city and the sand dunes is 5 minutes walk away - just time it right because there's one bus per hour in each direction. There's Chinese-style breakfast included which may not be for everyone but it was filling. Definitely worth the money! Had a blissful rest here and would go back.
