Castle Arch Hotel

Very friendly staff when I arrived and plenty of free parking. I got a spotlessly clean room with plenty of workspace, the coffee maker in the room is a nice touch. The hotel is only 10 mins walk from the town centre. As it was a quiet Tuesday night I ate in the hotel restaurant which was good value. Breakfast, included with the room, was served in the main restaurant and it was nice to have a freshly cooked fry up, not the usual lukewarm buffet most hotels seem to have now. Looking forward to staying again in a few weeks time.

Lovely hotel, our only issue was the noise from a wedding that was booked. If we’d have known we’d have chosen a different hotel as it was so loud from our room and we’d just booked a night to chill out. In the morning one staff member at breakfast wasn’t helpful at all when we asked to confirm if our booking included breakfast and he came across as rude.

We had our wedding reception here Oct 2024. Hotel was lovely, it had a modern but slightly rustic vibe (if that's a thing) the staff were ALL fantastic, but honorable mention to Nicola (wedding coordinator). The staff made sure the day ran effortlessly and the food was fantastic. (Regular) Rooms were nice, spacious and clean with the exception of some dirty grout in the bathrooms (it wasn't terrible just a bit grubby if your fussy) but pricing was very good for what you get. The bridal suite was immaculate and beautiful. It's in a good central location but DO NOT go to the pub/club over the road called ”the palace” as its a kip and the door men act disgracefully. (Go to the royal meath up on the right).. last thing worth noting is the parking area is SUPER TIGHT, low cars struggle and large estate/small suv style cars are a bit hard to get around in but it is manageable but is also multistory.. all in all a fantastic wedding experience in this hotel start to finish.

Had to cancel our booking due to a friends mothers passing away, I contacted the hotel as soon as possible and was told to email the reservation manager, which i did straight away. I heard nothing back and had to call two days later and spoke to Shona in reception who advised she couldn't help me and she would have the reservations manager call me back. A while later Shona called me back and said they couldn't offer a refund as i had contacted them after my check in date, I advised her that i had emailed the day before check in but hadn't heard anything back, she said she would check this and come back to me. She phoned back again and advised there would be no refund as they hadn't recieved my email, I asked that the reservations manager contact me. I received an email from Stephen and explained the situation but as it was within 72 hours of our stay they were unable to offer any refund or to rebook. There was no leeway or understanding on his part and I am utterly disappointed with the lack of care shown.

I attended the Adult Group Swimming with Joe Doyle in the pool in Clannlife Fitness which is attached to the Pillo Hotel. Joe is an amazing swim instructor. My confidence in the water since beginning the lessons with Joe has come on leaps and bounds. He breaks each step down and explains it so well. He repeats it til you feel confident to move on. I couldn’t recommend Joe more highly to anyone who has a fear of water which I had beginning. Keep up the amazing work Joe ☺️

As the title says there is lots of positives but def areas that need attention. Firstly the package was very expensive over €600 for 1 night b&b with 30 min rasul treatment in spa and dinner in restaurant for 2. I don't mind spending extra but when I do then I expect very high standards to go with it. It's handy to get to just off motorway but then the trade off is it's not the most scenic place. The accommodation : On arrival we were very kindly allowed check in a bit early as a room was ready. There was a wedding on so we weren't in the old part ( where possibly the nicer rooms are) the room had an adjoining door into the next room and was very small for a ”deluxe” room as quoted In the package. We went to reception to ask to be changed and very kindly this was obliged. However the room we were moved to was in my opinion in poor condition. The wear and tear was very obvious. The walls were dirty looking and scuffed there were poorly repaired plaster work . For the price this was not what I expected. We again went back to reception and on this occasion met a manager who assured us he would take care of things and apologised. He took us to a 3rd room which I think may have been slightly bigger but at this point a realised all the rooms had a significant amount of wear and tear so it was time to accept this. The bed and furniture was fine but again the walls were scuffed and plaster work poorly repaired and just painted over. The bathrooms are clean but dated looking. The bathroom tap on several occasions covered us and the floor with water when you barely turn it. The sink blocked and when I extracted the plug hole to empty water the plug was not a pretty site. The bathroom door was partially painted . The room door has lumps out of it and the frame. The spa: The spa is the major highlight and would be somewhere we would return to. The staff were so lovely especially the lady on the desk who fit in a treatment for us last min. The facilities are really lovely and the outdoor hydrotherapy pool again a gorgeous spot. We were given a complimentary glass of prosecco arranged I believe from the manager we dealt with over the room and a bottle was left in our room. This was a lovely gesture. Food: We had lunch in the coach house. We had a steak sandwich which was OK. The meat was nice but the bread was soggy. The included dinner in fire & salt was very nice I had the soup then steak and finally the chocolate fondant. I enjoyed everything. Unfortunately I started feeling unwell mid way through dinner so went back to the room before we got to try the cocktail bar or live music in bar. This was a shame as we would of loved to experience the cocktails. The venue looked lovely from the outside. Breakfast was again lovely. I had a hot breakfast but as I was wasn't feeling great didn't get to try the cold buffet. Overall it was lovely to get away as a couple a break from our very busy lives with work and 3 kids. I think t

Bellinter House

Have stayed in Belinter house twice now. And it will definitely be our hotel of choice in future. Old world style with a super relaxed vibe, set in gorgeous grounds, Beautifully maintained and spotlessly clean. Rooms are both lovely and comfy. The customer service is exceptional, with with a professional and friendly staff that do all they can to make your stay in the hotel the very best. Having team members like Darren, Grace, Judith and Ger on staff is what makes the difference between a good stay and a great stay. The dining experience was top notch. Im not the easiest person to accommodate as I have food allergies, but from breakfast service, straight through to dinner, the food was delicious, The ability to accommodate diatry needs and still deliver taste, style and choice to the standard of the rest of the menu is very rare. It was also a breath of fresh air to see the standard, thought and did not drop when it came to the vegan and vegetarian menu, which in my experience can quite often seem like an afterthought. It is very, very obvious that every clients experience is important to Chef at Bellinter. Now for the spa services, again exceptional service from the moment you walk in the door, everything you need is provided and of great quality. All you need is yourself and a pair of flipflops. I had treatments with both Amy and Uri. Undoubtedly the treatments ive had in a spa setting, anywhere.so looking forward to trying out the bath bath house facilities on my next trip. Which I am hoping is very soon
