#Ruins of St. Paul's Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Macau Travel | Avoid the crowd and take big shots
I've been back to Macau for a week now
Can't delay the photo guide anymore
Coming to Macau 🇲🇴 People can take pictures like this in the sea of people
Avoid the crowd from different angles
1⃣️【Ruins of St. Paul】
There are too many people in the square in front of the archway. You can go to the flower base stone steps next to the archway. The low-angle upward shot can avoid the crowd and integrate with the Ruins of St. Paul
2⃣️【Love Lane】: Stand or sit on the stone steps, the Ruins of St. Paul are all background walls, and the colorful Portuguese buildings are also good to shoot
4⃣️【UNIQLO】: It can be said that it is the most beautiful UNIQLO in Macau. You can take pictures of the Ruins of St. Paul from the oil painting frame glass window on the second floor. There are too many people and you have to queue up. I didn't go to shoot
5⃣️Go up the small hill on the right side of the archway, next to the big tree in the Fort Park, there are few people, and it's not bad to take a photo with the side view of the Ruins of St. Paul
If you are going to Macau for the first time, you must go to these must-play list!
Every month, Mangtao, who goes to Macau once a month, recommends these super fun must-play lists to everyone!

December 2023 trip to Macau
1️⃣ Macau is very small, you can take the hotel's free shuttle bus for the whole journey. The shuttle bus + walking can reach all the attractions.
2️⃣ Many small shops can't break 1000 MOP, but it can be broken down in large restaurants and hotels. So it's better to exchange for smaller denominations of money. Some shops also accept Alipay and WeChat payments.
3️⃣ If you can't find the way, ask the locals, they are very enthusiastic.
4️⃣ The local dim sum restaurants where locals eat a lot are quite good. Ordering their specialty signature dishes will not go wrong.

The Admirable Ruins of St. Paul in Macau ☺️
Ruins of St. Paul is one of Macao's famous landmarks. It is one the most visited tourist sites in Macao and it is really indeed fascinating in person. There's nothing much to see here, however the Ruins itself is still worth a visit. If you are coming to Macao, why not have a glimpse of the Ruins of St. Paul. I think you would love this as much as I did.
When we visited the place, the weather was perfect but it was really full of people, so it was kind of hard to get a good picture of yourself standing in front of the Ruins. Neverthless, we had such a good time here and hope you too when you visit the place.

The Ruins of St. Paul and Macau street
As you approach the site, The Ruins of St. Paul, the grandeur and magnificence of the remaining facade instantly captivate your attention. It's truly awe-inspiring to see how this 17th-century Portuguese church has withstood the test of time, despite the ravages of fire and typhoons. The intricate carvings, elaborate stone statues, and detailed reliefs are a testament to the craftsmanship of the era.
Climbing up the steps towards the ruins, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and curiosity about the stories that lie within these ancient walls. I was not disappointed. The Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt, located at the back of the ruins, offers a fascinating collection of religious artifacts and artifacts from the church's past. It provides a glimpse into Macau's religious heritage and the influence of the Catholic Church in shaping the city's identity.
After exploring the ruins, I decided to take a leisurely stroll along Macau Street. This charming street is lined with vibrant shops, bustling markets, and mouth-watering street food stalls. The blend of East and West is evident in the architecture, as traditional Chinese buildings stand beside Portuguese-style structures, creating a unique and picturesque atmosphere.

Macau day trip
On my fifth visit to Macau, I found that the tourism industry here seems to have fully recovered to the level of 2019, and it is very lively.
Yesterday morning, I passed through the Zhuhai Hengqin Port very smoothly and easily. All I needed to do was to fill in the entry information at a lower level, and in just a few minutes, I arrived in Macau.
We first went to the Kowloon Village and found that it was a very picturesque place. The buildings are mainly in yellow tones and it is one of the relatively intact villages in Macau. The J Hall is very distinctive, especially the corridor at the entrance, which gives a sense of time and space travel.
After having lunch, I went to the most famous world heritage site in Macau, the Ruins of St. Paul's, and found that there were many people, especially on the food street below, which was crowded with tourists, many of whom were from Guangdong and some from Northeast China.
On the food street, there are many Macau specialties and souvenirs, such as beef jerky, pork jerky, almond cookies, egg tarts, and more. The staff in the shops warmly invite passersby to try them.
Turn right after passing through the food street and you will arrive at Rose Hall, a very spectacular building. Enter from the left and exit from the right. It is reminded to take off your hat when entering and not to speak inside.
Yesterday was Valentine's Day, so I went to Love Lane to take photos. I found many young couples taking pictures there, and some groups of two girls also came to take photos. If you walk up to the top step, you can take a photo of the Ruins of St. Paul's.
Compared to two years ago, I found that the tourism industry in Macau has completely recovered during this visit. There are many tourists and it is very lively, with bustling crowds everywhere.
A Historical Wonder!
The Ruins of Saint Paul's 大三巴牌坊; Ruínas de São Paulo) are the ruins of a 17th-century Catholic religious complex in Macau.
It is perhaps the most famous place in Macau. It is also a wonderful place to photograph.
Tip: Visit before 9am if you can to avoid the crowds in your photos.
Tip 2: Climb the small hill to the east of the ruins to get a very nice view of Macau.

One day, walk 20,000 steps! These Portuguese-style streets in Macau are worth it.
Although Huang Tai has been to Macau many times
But it can't stop my passion for shooting in the historic old town!
.
Arrive at Zhuhai Wanzi Pier at 8:30 in the morning.
From here, it only takes a boat ride of over ten minutes to reach Macau.
Very convenient!
Macau is actually very small.
On one side is the dazzling prosperity of the city.
On one side is the old city street with the scent of fireworks.
Every time we like to take a walk to visit the historic old town area.
You can occasionally discover many hidden corners and streets.
.
📍The journey of extreme walking begins as soon as you leave the checkpoint.
Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal 👉 Avenida Almirante Lacerda 👉 Our Lady of Penha Church 👉 Love Lane 👉 Ruins of St. Paul's 👉 Rua da Tercena 👉 Grand Lisboa Palace
.
❗️Tips: There are a lot of tourists in Macau recently, so if you want to take photos of empty spaces, be sure to get up early!!!
Ruins of St Paul's in Macau
Ruins of St Paul's is the most iconic landmark in Macau. The original church was made of wood and damaged by fire in 1835. Now it left only the granite facade and the staircase. It is an important architectural structure to evidence the spread of Catholicism in the Far East. There are Asian influences on the ruins. Such as the Chinese guardian lion statue which is believed to have mystic protective powers can be found on the structure. There was also a Chinese temple adjacent to it. Along the way to the ruins, you will pass by a busy street with many vendors selling local biscuits, snacks and souvenirs.

Today is the day for a crazy walk in Macau, and the Greater Bay Area that has been cloudy for a week is finally sunny! Crying...
Hurry up and check in at some landmark buildings! The people at the Fisherman's Wharf are really scarce and the scenery is amazing!
Speaking of which, there are too many people in Macau. I couldn't even book a room, it's ridiculous!
Finally!
Fresh start to new beginning! Finally we can go out to Macau or even other countries now after 3 years staying in Mainland!
Traveling to Macau via Gongbei port many things changed like you don’t need to fill out any forms to exit Mainland and to enter Macau. Mainland have special lines for foreigners and Macau line you need to go to Visa section.
Another new things about Macau they do accept Alipay payments however it’s only for Chinese nationals not for foreigners so better change your money to Macau dollars also bugging me you can’t withdraw money in ATM in Macau you need ID card. so better have RMB cash before exiting.
So New Year! New Fun!

Ruins of Saint Paul’s
This is the most famous touristic place in Macao and the main image of the city.
The Cathedral was ruined by a typhoon and now we can enjoy only the front wall from the past. If you want to observe the details you can visit the museum by the church. You will see the remains of the building and learn more about the history of this place.
The main square is surrounded by narrow streets. They are very authentic and full of interesting things: small cafes with traditional food, shops with souvenirs and even art galleries.
This area is rather crowded. Plan your time not to be in a hurry and enjoy the historical sightseeing in a good mood? 😁
