Went into the Reunification Palace to do a tour visit and you would be able to see a lot of history about the reunification of Vietnam.
It was a big palace that consist of a few levels (I forget how many levels there are) but you can take a lot of nice photos in the palace. (Good for your next Tinder profile pic)
You will be able to view the President’s office, conference hall, the minister’s cabinet room, and the Banquet hall (of course there’s more room but I can’t recall the names, go see yourself). Someone asked me if they are able to sit on the chair but sadly you can’t as they are items that need to be protected. Try sitting on the chair and you might end up in the police station 👮🏻♂️🚔

Independence Palace
The Independence Palace symbolizes Vietnam's victory, peace, and territorial integrity. This place has a glamorous design, hundreds of rooms equipped with luxurious furnishings and decorations, and an enormous and gorgeous exterior space. It is the perfect place for visitors to get away from the heat in Southern Vietnam, enjoy the fresh cool air, and explore one of the most remarkable structures in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, was built on the site of the former Norodom Palace. It represents the traditional philosophy, the oriental rituals, and the characteristics of the Vietnamese people in a harmonious combination with modern structures.
The palace was built on a 12-hectare plot of land and includes a large mansion of 80-meter width. The palace is well-known not only for its historical significance but also for its unique architecture. It is a harmonious blend of modern Western and classical Eastern styles.

Independence Palace - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam
In 1975, a North Vietnamese tank crashed into the main gate of the Independence Palace effectively ending the Vietnam War. Today, the Independence Palace, also called the Reunification Palace, is one of the main historical attractions of Ho Chi Minh City. Time seems to have “frozen” here - two tanks that participated in the storming of the palace are still standing on the territory, and an exact copy of a military helicopter is installed on the roof of the building. Inside this five-story palace, interiors in the style of the late 1960s and 1970s have been preserved. In the basement of the building there is a bunker with a labyrinth of tunnels and a telecommunications center.
Address: Independence Palace, Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa, Bến Thành, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Looking Back at History

Independent Palace or it is called Reunification Convention Hall is a iconic building that is difficult to miss if you are in Ho Chi Minh.
It is located at the District 1, at the centre of the city.
It was designed to be the home and workplace of the former president for the Republic of South Vietnam. Back then Ho Chi Minh was called Saigon. In 30 April 1975, Saigon fall to the army of Northern Vietnam and the army crashed through the palace and end the rule of the Republic. Hence it is also called Reunification Convention Hall.
It is one of the site that ones can should visit if you want to learn more about Vietnam History and spend a few hours there. It is so accessible as it is right in the centre of the city.
Visited and paid general admission and the new exhibition on the history of Saigon. Really interesting displays and audio visual - multi lingual displays and really good photographs. #independencepalace needs more info panels but despite that it’s really interesting to walk around - you get a real sense of the history - definitely worth a visit , nice gardens and almost traffic free - great views from balcony.

The building was originally built in 1868 and was once the office of the French Governor in Vietnam. Now the palace is kind of muesum, with audio content, booklet and the actual physical exhibits.
In Vietnam, the Reunification Palace can be said to be a very famous attraction. Anyone who has been to Vietnam does not have to visit there. On the second day we arrived in Vietnam, we came to the prestigious Reunification Palace.
Reunification Palace, formerly known as "Norodon Palace" was originally the French government in southern Vietnam. In 1954, the French evacuated and handed over the "Norodon Palace" to the then Vietnamese government. In order to show Vietnam's independence from French colonial rule, the Vietnamese government renamed it "Independence Palace." Later, with the national reunification of Vietnam's North and South, the "Independence Palace" was renamed the "Reunification Palace" as a symbol of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national independence and national unity.
Here is the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace. The place to commemorate the unity
the reunification palace in the center of Ho Chi Minh was originally built by the French colonists. However, after the liberation of Vietnam, in order to commemorate the independence of the Independence Palace, it was to commemorate the reunification of the North and South. Renamed the Reunification Palace. Originally thought this was a particularly serious attraction. In fact, it has indeed witnessed many historical moments, as well as facilities such as roof aprons and air-raid shelters for specific purposes. But romantic Vietnam can always find a suitable angle for self-portraits, huge glass windows, classic cars on the ground floor, you can take a beautiful photo.

🏛️ Another must-see spot in Ho Chi Minh City is the Reunification or Independence Palace. 🇻🇳 It's a historical gem that educates tourists about the Vietnam War. 🕰️ The palace is huge and centrally located in the city. 💸 There's an entrance fee, but considering the many places to explore, it's worth it. 🌟 We visited on a Sunday, so brace yourself for the crowds if you come on a weekend. 🙋♂️ What surprised me was the number of locals also visiting the palace. 🏢 The building has a modern style, and the façade and lawn with the water feature in front give off an authoritative vibe. 🎧 There are counters where you can get audio-guided tours. 📸 The rooms are all open for photos, but they're barricaded, so you can only take pictures from outside. 🚶♂️ There's a lot to explore from the basement to the top, so be ready to climb stairs as the lifts are small and not easy to find. 📷 There are plenty of photo opportunities. 🌆 I particularly enjoyed the rooftop with its scenic viewpoints. 🛍️ There's also a souvenir shop at the top where you can buy refreshments for a break. 🥤
Ho Chi Minh City | The Reunification Palace - A Symbol of Vietnam's Independence and Unity
🔝 The Reunification Palace was once the office of the French Governor in Vietnam (the headquarters of the French military in Indochina), and later became the presidential residence of the former South Vietnamese government, where heads of state were received and meetings were held. The four-story white symmetrical building was renamed 'Reunification Palace' to highlight the symbol of Vietnam's struggle for independence.
There are over 100 large and small reception halls, and the reception hall on the first floor is quite magnificent. The windows look great from the inside out, but you can't see inside from the outside. Although the building is relatively large, there are not many exhibits inside, so it takes just over half an hour to visit. I revisited the place and took photos at the same spot, haha.
The outside courtyard is very large and the environment is serene, with most areas not open to tourists. Less than 300 meters across the central axis to the right 👉 is the Notre Dame Cathedral ⛪️ and the Central Post Office. Behind it is a large public park.

Vietnam In-depth Tour Series Three
September 2nd is Vietnam's National Day. In 1945, as Japan surrendered, it also announced the abolition of the last emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty, Emperor Bao Dai. On September 2nd, the Viet Minh led by Ho Chi Minh declared independence in Hanoi, the northern part of Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh delivered the 'Declaration of Independence', proclaiming the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (also known as 'North Vietnam'). However, at this time, Vietnam was actually taken over by France and the United Kingdom, the victorious nations, who respectively managed North and South Vietnam. The Japanese surrender in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) was accepted by the British Southeast Asia Command. Since Vietnam was originally a French colony before the Japanese occupation, the United Kingdom later handed South Vietnam back to France in exchange for its support of British colonies in Asia. However, France's national strength and military power were insufficient to sustain its colonial rule after World War II. Additionally, with the support of the Chinese and Soviet communists, the Viet Minh essentially forced France to withdraw from colonial rule in Vietnam after the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. By then, North Vietnam was firmly under the control of the Viet Minh, but due to the influence of the UK and the US and the great power games, Vietnam was eventually divided into North and South. The political center of South Vietnam is now Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon).
Today, I visited the Reunification Palace, whose name has evolved from Reunification Palace to Independence Palace to Norodom Palace, built by the French Governor in 1869. The changes in its name reflect its functions during different periods. The victors become kings, the losers outcasts, an eternal truth. Today, it serves only as a place for people to visit. I had many thoughts: there were those who worked tirelessly for their country and people, the machinations of political power, the struggles between major and minor nations, and the worries of those whose time has come to an end.
The ticket price is 6.5w (about 20 RMB). I added an audio guide for a total of 15.5w. There was no tour guide service on-site, let alone a Chinese-speaking guide (at the two history museums I visited later, I saw guides speaking Vietnamese, but no Chinese-speaking guides). Since today is National Day, I was worried about the crowd. Before going, a Vietnamese student who studied in China told me: Don't worry, don't worry, it won't be as crowded as in China. It opens at 8 am, and I arrived at 7:30 am. Indeed, it wasn't very crowded, not even as crowded as a park in China. The number of people queuing at the ticket office was only about twenty or thirty. When I came out after my visit, there were more people, but it was far from crowded. There were quite a few Western tour groups, and the history museums I visited later were even less crowded.
I divided it into four main functional areas: the office area with the Cabinet Room, Banquet Hall, Reception Hall, Presidential Office, and Vice Presidential Office on either side, the Situation Room, and the Library; the leisure area with a cinema, billiards, and piano; the living area with a dining room and bedrooms; and the basement with the President's wartime office and bed, the Intelligence Room, and the War Situation Analysis Room, and the temporary radio room. It's not overly luxurious, but it's refined enough to match the center of power.

Had a great experience in Independence Palace that shows you Vietnam's history. The building is super impressive, and inside, you can see all these rooms and all of them were perfectly maintained.
The gardens around the palace are peaceful too. You can find fighter jet and some tanks park in the garden.
They also offers an audioguide for an additional fee, which is a great way to get even more information.
Nearby, there's an exhibition center. If you're planning to visit both, I highly recommend getting a combo ticket which include the audioguide fee as well.
If you're into country's rich history this is one of great places to check out!
HCMC's Historical Gem
#hochiminhcity
Another landmark of Ho Chi Minh City is the Reunification or Independence Palace. It is a historical gem because it educates the tourists on the happenings of the Vietnam War. The palace is massive and located at the center of the city. There is an entrance fee but for the amount of places to see, the fee is worth it. We visited on a Sunday so be prepared for the throng of people if you’re coming on a weekend. What surprised me is that there’s a lot of local people also visiting the palace.
The building is of modern style. The façade and the lawn with the water feature in front has a very authoritative or commanding feel. There are counters where you can avail of the audio-guided tours. The rooms are all open for photos but are barricaded so you could only take photos from outside of the room, you cannot go in. There’s a lot to see, from basement to top, be prepared to take stairs too, since the lifts are small and hard to find. There were really a lot to photograph. I especially loved the rooftop where there are scenic viewpoints. There’s a souvenir shop at the top too, with refreshments you can buy for a break.

We had the chance to visit this place with historical significance and architectural beauty. The Independence Palace, also known as Reunification Palace played a pivotal role in witnessing and signaling the end of Vietnam War when a tank from the North Vietnamese army crashed through the front gates. The exterior of the palace is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, however, the most interesting parts of the palace are inside.
The first floor consists of president's meeting chambers which are lavishly decorated and furnished. There’s even a helipad and a beautiful wooden dance floor on the rooftop. The most intriguing part of the palace is in the basement, where the telecommunications center, war rooms, and maze of tunnels shows how the Southern Vietnamese army operated. We got to see the large and chunky telecommunications equipment on display. It is a must-visit destination for those interested in understanding Vietnam's tumultuous history.#timetotravel #vietnamhistory #vietnam #worldexplorer

The Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, played a pivotal role in the Vietnam War. It's where significant events, including the Fall of Saigon in 1975, unfolded, marking the end of the war and the reunification of North and South Vietnam.
Exploring the interior of the palace reveals meticulously preserved rooms and chambers, each with a unique purpose. The grand reception hall, the presidential office, and the war room offer insight into the daily operations of the government during that era.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the visit is the preserved basement, which houses a labyrinth of communication rooms and tunnels. These were used for strategic planning and coordination during the war.
The well-maintained museum within the palace complex provides additional context through photographs, artifacts, and exhibits. It's a valuable resource for learning about Vietnam's path to independence and reunification.
In summary, visiting Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City is a thought-provoking and historically rich experience. It's a testament to Vietnam's resilience and determination to chart its own destiny.

The Reunification Palace is a fascinating piece of 20th century #history and a must-visit for history buffs while traveling to #vietnam. Situated right in the heart of #hochiminhcity, rooms of the palace have been kept intact for decades. Walk around the palace to learn more about which important world leaders came by for big state visits. The basement at one point was also home to the military quarters of the South during the war. It’s interesting to discover something seen in history books up close and personal.

The Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace is located in the center of Ho Chi Minh City. It was built in 1869 and was the governor's office of the Indochina during the French period. It became the presidential palace of the South Vietnamese regime during the Vietnam War from 1954 to 1975. The presidential palace is also known as the "Reunification Palace." ".
In the Independence Palace, Wu Tingxi, Yang Wenming, Zhao Qing, Qi Gaoqi, Qi Wenshao and Chen Wenxiang have successively held public here. Later, ten days before the end of April 1975, the Independence Palace changed hands again, called the Unified Assembly Hall.
"Reunification Palace" was once the largest building complex in Ho Chi Minh City. It has now become a museum. This presidential palace, which has experienced Vietnam's vicissitudes for decades, has a hundred rooms and beautiful scenery. Any corner reveals its long history and sedimentary cultural heritage.
In the courtyard of the presidential palace, we can also see a tank numbered 390 by the Chinese, which was the 390 tank that entered the presidential palace on the morning of April 30, 1975. It heralds the end of the 30-year Vietnam War.
Tour the "Reunification Palace" can also give us a better understanding of Vietnam's modern history.
Through the Reunification Palace, you can almost see a period of modern history in Vietnam, so the Reunification Palace is one of the most important attractions in Vietnam. The Reunification Palace was built in 1868 by the French Governor General La Grande in southern Vietnam. The palace adopts the design concept of the first Vietnamese architect Wu Yushu, who won the first prize of the Roman class. The whole palace is "Ji" with good meaning and luck. There is a banquet hall in the reunification palace, the presidential family area of the Republic of Vietnam, the command center, and the basement of military activities.
