Oshino Hakkai

Oshino Hakkai is a touristy set of eight ponds in Oshino, it is a small village in the Fuji Five Lake Region, located between Lake Kawaguchio and Lake Yamanakako on the site of the former sixth Lake that dried out several hundred years ago.
The ponds are quite deep and have interesting freshwater plant life and large fish that make a visit to the ponds almost like visiting an aquarium. It has been developed into tourist attractions and become quite crowded with visitors. The atmosphere there is nice. You also can find souvenirs and food vendors there.
The closest train station is Fujisan Station on the Fuji Kyuko Line. A 20 minute bus ride will take you to Oshino Hakkai Iriguchi bus stop which is a five minute walk to the main entrance.
I wish to go Alaska!

When on a roadtrip around Tokyo, we had the opportunity to stop by Oshino-Hakkai, and even though it’s the start of winter and the weather was getting more gloomy, it was still very tranquil and lovely.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Oshino-Hakkai is a beautiful village with many clear fish ponds with water from Mount Fuji’s melting snow.
Well worth a visit as it’s really peaceful and quaint.
My rating: 4 ⭐️ out of 5!

Destination - Roughly every other bus between Kawaguchiko Station and Gotemba (approximately one per hour) makes a small detour via Oshino Hakkai (see timetable). Furthermore, the Fujikko tourist buses and the Mount Fuji World Heritage Loop buses also make a stop at Oshino Hakkai. Get off at the "Oshino Hakkai" bus stop.

Scenic, peaceful, beautiful,refreshing—Oshino Hakkai
It’s a lovely little village of very special deep ponds of snowmelt. The water was tranquil with beautiful fish swimming in it. We went there on a clear sunny day and we had the great view of Mt Fuji too. It’s a very popular tourist spot with plenty of local souvenirs and snacks, including roadside grilled fish. Parking area is a short level walk outside of the village centre. Outdoor areas are dog friendly. There’re some vendors selling freshly dried strawberries and peaches are also lovely.
As all the ponds are outdoors, so check the weather before paying a visit. My partner and I really enjoyed our time there. Highly recommended.

Oshino Hakkai Village
Today, let's change the atmosphere and travel to Japan together! Let's visit Oshino Hakkai Village, located in Yamanashi prefecture 📍. We traveled there by bus and got off right in front of the village. We came during April, when most cherry blossoms had fallen, but luckily there were still some left here. The weather was a bit chilly 🌸. The village is named after its clear water, and every pond is crystal clear with lots of fish swimming around. The path leading to the village is full of cherry blossom trees, some have fallen, but some still have beautiful blossoms. In some corners, we could even see Mount Fuji in the background with cherry blossoms in the foreground, it was truly beautiful. We arrived relatively early at around 8am, so there weren't many people and we could take pictures comfortably without feeling crowded. The weather was still cool in the morning, but as we finished walking around at around 11am, the sun started to get stronger and it became hot enough for us to take off our jackets. The place also started to get crowded with people.

The breathtakingly beautiful off-the-beaten-path spot in Tokyo, Oshino Hakkai
Known as the 'Jiuzhaigou of Japan'💫, it is an outdoor peach garden at the foot of Mount Fuji. Here, eight springs are scattered in an orderly manner, the water is clear and sweet, rich in minerals⭐. Each pool is crystal clear, you can even see the reflection of fish🐟 at the bottom of the water.
🌄The afterglow of the sunset is plated on the mirror-like pools🌠, dazzling and dreamy, as if entering a comic world. It is well worth visiting.
Oshino hakkai
#2024wish The pond location guide is clear and easy to follow. Water is so clear that even small streams can see greens and fishes. This place is friendly for old folks and children to visit. However, keep them close if you visit during peak season. Quite crowded with tourists. Many locations with small walkways next to small stream. Within the main area has food stalls and street food. Seasonal fruits are at reasonable prices compared to the city.
I wish to travel to south korea in 2024
The Eight Seas of Oshino
Oshino Hakkai, or the Eight Seas of Oshino, are a set of eight ponds located in the Fuji Five Lakes area, on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out several centuries ago. The eight ponds are fed by snowmelt from the slopes of Mount Fuji that filters down the mountain through porous layers of volcanic rock over a period of several decades. This makes the mineral-rich pond waters remarkably clear and pristine. Oshino Hakkai are part of the Mt. Fuji UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, designated in 2013.
I wish to be back in Yamanashi this year.

Fujikawaguchiko - prettiest town in Shizuoka
We rented a car for this trip, and it was the best decision made ever! We get to see two sides of Oshino Hakkai, first day it was rainy and grey, and we're fortunate that second day (leaving) it was sunny and we got to see Mount Fuji appearing! All the photos turned out so well, despite the rain too. In order to drive in Japan, you will need get International driving permit in Singapore before your trip, it takes minutes if you visit the IDP outlet.
In 2024, we hope that we can go to Japan again and explore more!! #2024wish

How could you miss this place if you came to Tokyo to see Mt Fuji?
The melted snow from Mount Fuji feeds the eight ponds, or "hakkai," giving the water its remarkable clarity. It is suitable for drinking!
And the pond is crystal clear and teeming with fish that can be fed. 🎏
We arrive early and there aren't many people, but after a few minutes, there are many people as they arrive in groups. So it is therefore recommended to arrive early to avoid crowds.
Oh, some advice: the souvenirs here are much cheaper than in Tokyo.

World heritage
It was blazing hot these few days, hence the clear skies and Mt Fuji appearing. The ponds were crystal clear, alluringly beautiful. What irked me were the tourists who drank straight out of the (spring water) laddle, Beautiful place that deserves more respect and serenity.
Food prices kind of exorbitant, very much targeted at international tourists. There ought to be some limitations imposed on foreign tourists, else it’s just making the current experience worse for local Japanese and people who respect/appreciate Japan’s nature in quiet..
Free entry
At the foot of Mount Fuji, there is a famous scenic spot called Oshino Hakkai.
Ninoyakai is a group of springs located in the village of Oshino, between Lake Yamanaka and Lake Kawaguchi in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. It is named "Ninoyakai" because of the eight clear springs scattered in a picturesque manner, and it is famous all over the world. It is said that Ninoyakai existed 1200 years ago, and the eight clear and fresh springs were formed by the snowmelt from Mount Fuji, which flowed through the layers of the earth: Oyukama Pond, Sokonashi Pond, Yatoko Pond, Nigori Pond, Waki Pond, Kagami Pond, Shobu Pond, and Deguchi Pond.
