#Heping Ancient Town Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Shaowu Peace Ancient Town
If you go to Fujian and have time, you can visit Peace Ancient Town.
Peace Ancient Town is a rare "castle-style ancient town" with a history of more than 4,000 years.
There are more than 300 ancient Ming and Qing dynasty residences here, which have produced 2 prime ministers, 6 ministers, and 137 scholars; the Nuo dance here is known as the "living fossil" of Han Chinese dance; the local specialties such as pig-slaughtering dishes, tofu feast, and Baozi are considered to be unparalleled.
Currently, there is no commercial pollution, and everything remains as it was a thousand years ago.
Visiting the Heping Ancient Town again, I had a different experience
1⃣️ Admission is now charged, 40 yuan per person, locals half price at 20 yuan, and the ticket includes a play, access to venues inside, which is quite nice.
2⃣️ The intangible heritage Youjiang tofu is really delicious, 2 yuan per piece, simple and tasty.
3⃣️ There are many more paid activities in the ancient town, such as paying 3 yuan to go up to a rooftop to take a panoramic view of the ancient town, which I don't really like.
HePing Ancient Town
HePing Ancient Town is one of the oldest ancient towns in Fujian Province, located in the northwest of Fujian, with an area of 192 square kilometers. It was established during the Tang Dynasty and is a rare castle-style large village in the country. Its numerous ancient buildings are one of the most characteristic ancient residential buildings preserved in China to date, and it is a national-level tourist resource.
