The Dean Painting!
Attraction name: Dean Village
Location: Edinburgh, Scotland
Getting there: Walk fifteen minutes south of princess street and you will reach the Waters of Leith - this is where the brilliant Dean Village is located.
Edinburgh is one of the most popular cities in Europe to visit, especially in the summertime when the weather is comfortable.
Dean Village is perhaps my favourite attraction…not too many people but a view to savour. There are about twenty colourful houses that look like paintings. There is a stunning stream of water flowing through with green plants nearby. You will also find traditional bridges to walk along to enjoy the views.
If you’re travelling to Europe, come to Edinburgh…and definitely make Dean Village one of your stops. It’s free, beautiful and close to the centre of the city!

It was a lovely day in Edinburgh. We took the train from Glasgow Central to Edinburgh Waverley then walk 25 min to Dean village. We were there at about 10 am, so there was not much people there.
I would suggest that you should go in the morning to avoid the crowds. It took us 1 hr to walk around and enjoyed the tranquility there.

A picturesque village in Edinburgh
Dean Village is an underrated tourist attraction in Edinburgh . It is a residential area with people still living here. Please do show respect for other people’s privacy.
Easiest way to get here is by taxi or Uber. You can alight at the intersection of Dean Path and Damside. From there you can follow the cobblestoned path to the bridge crossing the Water of Leith, a small waterway that snakes its way through Edinburgh. Don’t forget to visit Well Court, the most iconic building in the village. Along the way, you can also enjoy the nature, the river and the fresh air. What a good way to get away from the city!

Beautiful Village just steps away from city

Dean village was previously where milling of water mills took place, of which remain still can be seen by visitors. The Dean bridge also can be found if you walk along the leith river. At the heart of the village is Well court, the most ironic building in the village that was built in the 1800s. A 1.2 kilometers 16 minutes walk from Haymarket station to this picturesque village.

So Picturesque!
Nestled along the Water of Leith, Dean Village is a picturesque and historic neighborhood in Edinburgh. Once a grain milling hamlet, it dates back to the 12th century and retains much of its old-world charm with cobbled streets and quaint cottages. Iconic sites include the Well Court, a restored 19th-century housing complex, and the Dean Bridge, designed by Thomas Telford. The area is also home to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Walk down cobblestone lanes
Edinburgh's streets exude a unique charm, blending historic elegance with vibrant modern life. The cobblestone lanes of the Old Town, such as the Royal Mile, are lined with medieval buildings, quaint shops, and hidden closes that tell tales of centuries past. In contrast, the Georgian architecture of the New Town offers broad, symmetrical streets with stylish boutiques and cafes. Strolling through areas like Grassmarket, with its lively pubs and markets, or the serene Princes Street Gardens, provides a delightful mix of scenery. Each corner of Edinburgh reveals a new facet of its beauty, from the imposing Edinburgh Castle to the picturesque Dean Village, making every walk an enchanting experience.

Dean Village, A Must Visit In Edinburgh
#wecreate #edinburg #scotland #exploration #summervacation #uk #picturesque #oldtown #mustvisit
Dean Village is a must visit if you are visiting Edinburgh. You may think just visiting old town Edinburgh is sufficient, I disagree. Dean Village is also a must visit when you are here as this place recently had a make over to ensure the buildings that were built in the 1880s still stand strong. These houses were once built for local workers and somehow, there are many picture perfect spot to take a photo.
Dean Village itself isn't very big and can take you less than 30-45mins to complete, but if you do want to know more about the Village history, I recommend to visit the national gallery located here in Dean Village
