Getting There - train: Glasgow central — Edinburgh Waverley
Attractions - Arthur‘s seat
Food & Restaurants - Smoov gelato
Been to Edinburgh several times but it’s my first time to climb up Authur‘s seat. The view was absolutely amazing 🤩
After that, I went to Smoov gelato, had their whisky, raspberry and chocolate gelato! it was fresh and delicious! been here twice!
Amazing view over Edinburgh from Arthur's seat
I visited Arthur's seat last September and had to climb to the top of Arthur's seat! As a key landmark in Scotland, I made sure I had time to hike the 251m hill.
Allocate at least two hours to climb up and down, and wear comfortable footwear! Remember to wrap up warm as it gets windy at the top! It is conveniently located to lots of nearby attractions like Calton hill and the Royal Mile.

Edinburgh is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and memorials.
Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh is renowned for its heritage, culture, and festivals. Take a long walk around the center to explore the World Heritage Sites of the Old Town and New Town, as well as all the area’s museums and galleries. Pause to fortify yourself with tea and scones at the city’s charming tea rooms or duck into a traditional pub. Then head out to take in one of Edinburgh’s many events—including the famous summer festivals of culture, or the Winter Festivals of music, light, and ceilidhs.
The gorgeous sunset on Arthur's Seat!
Arthur's Seat is an ancient volcano which is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland. The hill is 253 metres (823ft), offers up a 360⁰ view of the city. Walking Arthur’s Seat gives you an amazing panoramic view across Scotland’s capital, it's easy to climb and popular for hillwalking, sightseeing, wildlife photography and etc.
Climbing to the top of Arthur's Seat and back takes about 2 hours+, my suggestion is go around sunset time, the view of sunset was gorgeous and breathtaking! The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground, the slanting rays of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky and ablaze like the fire...
Arthur’s Seat is always accessible and free to visit.

Arthur's Seat is an ancient volcano which is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh, Scotland, which form most of Holyrood Park
It has an elevation of 251 metres and a prominence of 174 metres.
When we reached there, we were actually quite tired. Thus we didn't went up the hill and just took some photos at the bottom. Even though we didn't climb up to the summit, it looked spectacular from below too. It must have been nice to look down from the summit.

Arthur's Seat
It's still the last month of 2023, climbing Arthur's Seat; the mountain is not high, but because there is no human repair activity interference, the whole climbing experience is quite exciting - no stairs, many broken stones, steep mountains, accompanied by a bit of mud after the rain, it is slippery and difficult; but it is this pure nature that makes people feel the excitement after the summit!
Descending the mountain is even more heroic, facing a large lawn that is green even in winter, just want to run and play on the lawn like a happy puppy
Find a flat place, sit down, taste banana & chocolate cookies & water to replenish energy, while the eyes also fall on the distant sea and city, feeling the peace of time~

Known as “a hill for magnitude, a mountain in virtue of its bold design, you will also see the St Anthony’s Chapel built in the 1940’s .
Definitely a place to enjoy the view and moment!

In this lifetime, you will never regret coming to Edinburgh.
Edinburgh is definitely a fairy city suitable for living.
Ancient and mysterious architectural style, every shot is a big scene.
👍Most recommended:
Arthur's Throne and Castle are two must-visit places. Watching the sunset on Arthur's Throne gives you a feeling of walking into Jay Chou's music video. I didn't go into the castle because there is a legend that touching the bricks of the castle will bring bad luck.
Edinburgh One-Day Tour Itinerary: 24 Hours in Scotland's Capital
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and is renowned worldwide as a must-visit destination in the UK. This city is famous for its long history of streets, unpredictable yet grand weather, and its connection to Harry Potter.
Whether you are traveling in Scotland and only staying in its capital for a short time, or stopping in the city and looking for a full day trip itinerary in Edinburgh, you have come to the right place! A day in Edinburgh is enough to see the highlights.
Edinburgh Castle
This castle may be the most famous attraction in Edinburgh and is definitely a must-visit place. Its history can be traced back to 1103 AD and it was the official residence of the Scottish royal family, as well as a military fortress, stronghold, and prison! Visiting it is a stunning experience and there are many opportunities to learn about the history of this building and the city.
Stroll along the Royal Avenue.
Royal Mile stretches from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace. Take some time to stroll along the Royal Mile, take photos of historic buildings, visit St. Giles Cathedral and the modern Scottish Parliament. Walk to the historic Grassmarket, which was actually a public execution site, but now has become a thriving market with plenty of places to eat and even have a lunchtime cocktail.
King Arthur's throne
Although it's a bit far from the city center, the Arthur's Seat is definitely worth spending a day in Edinburgh! It's an ancient volcano with an altitude of 251 meters. There are hill forts and a 15th-century medieval church here, where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the city.
stunning view!
Beautiful sunrise at Arthur Seat, definitely worth waking up early and hiking to see this view.
The hike was about 60 mins- 90mins, depending on your speed and the routes. I won't say it's an easy hike, but is doable! My advice is the be on a hiking stick and to wear something warm. Its super windy up there!
Arthur’s Seat
Address - Edinburgh EH16 5HX, United Kingdom
Highlights - Hiking to mountain, Panoramic city view at the top
Rating - 5/5
This hiking is one of the tour that taken most of the time as we got lost on the way there.
So if you would like to visit there, I will recommend to your tour to be either your first stop or last stop. As it is located around 10 minutes walk from the Edinburgh Waverly Train station.
Alright, as myself who have been there, I will suggest that you search for the route to walk to Dynamic Earth (a Science attraction) and from there, it is the starting point to hike on top of Arthur's seat.
The hiking takes around 30 - 45 minutes depending on how fast you walk, likewise I would suggest to wear covered shoes and bring water along as the hiking is covered with stones - so beware!
My friends and I didn't manage to hike towards the top of the mountain and we only hike at the point that we are able to see the panaromic view of Edinburgh.
It is a good experience and the whole hiking will really takes around 2 - 3 hours so do take note!
Lastly, reward yourself with some ice cream/ cooling drinks after you hike down the mountain. Usually there will be some food trucks at the meeting point/carpark area.

Before I arrived in Edinburgh, my impression of it stayed in countless movies. "ONE DAY", "Da Vinci Code", "Guess the Train"... and J. Rowling is here when he lives here, in The Elephant House, which is now a punching place, write " Harry Potter, a fantasy work that affects countless childhoods. How amazing is Edinburgh? Can become the place where so many movies happen, and install the twists and turns and the beautiful imagination. Let me take a look at this, the beauty and moving of this city far exceeds the picture of the movie. Arthur's Seat Arthur's Seat into the movie. Edinburgh is the location for many movies, and the most impressive of them, many of them are shot in Arthur's Seat. In this scene of the movie "One Day", Emma came here together the next day after meeting Dexter, and at the end of the film, Dexter and his daughter returned here. The 251-meter-high hill of Arthur's Seat offers a panoramic view of Edinburgh. It was formerly a volcano. Today, the sacred sea is transformed, the green is filled with the leisurely footsteps of the tourists, and driving on the road has a different feeling. .
