Wenshu Monastery is the most well-preserved Buddhist temple in Chengdu, also known as 'Konglin Hall'. Facing south from the north, the architecture is a typical ancient style of the western Sichuan plain, mainly wooden buildings. It was first built during the Daye period of the Sui Dynasty, and has gone through the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties. It used to be called Xiangxiangyuan or Xiangxiang Temple, and it was not until the 36th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1697) that it was renamed Wenshu Monastery. People come here in an endless stream, people from all over the world speak different dialects, wear different clothes, have different skin colors, but they all come to the same place for one purpose - blessings will come. Although it is built in the city, there is no hustle and bustle of the city here, only the melodious bell sound and the echo of Buddhist scriptures.
