【Chengdu Off-the-Beaten-Path Attractions】Baiyun Temple, a hidden gem in the city for prayers!
Hello everyone, welcome to Baiyun Temple in Chengdu! This ancient temple was first built in the third year of the Ming Dynasty, with a history of over 600 years, having experienced decay and reconstruction. The yellow walls and grey tiles, the green trees, and the thriving incense give a sense of transcendence hidden in the city.
Baiyun Temple is located on Muma Mountain, facing the Willow River, with a scenery comparable to Wenshu Monastery. Here, there is a 9.9-meter-high golden statue of Amitabha Buddha and a 7-meter bronze statue of Guanyin with a clean bottle, solemn and majestic.
In the temple, you can pray for peace, marriage, wealth, and health. There is also a vegetarian hall in the temple, 10 yuan/person, mealtime at 11:30. You can also have tea and chat here, enjoying a leisurely afternoon.
Baiyun Temple is located on Liuhe Road, Xinjin District, Chengdu City. It is about 1.2 kilometers from Exit D of Huayuan Subway Station on Line 10. There are shared bicycles at the subway exit that you can ride. Admission is free!
If you are looking for a tranquil place different from the bustling city, then Baiyun Temple is definitely a good choice. Not only is there beautiful scenery, but also deep cultural heritage and strong religious atmosphere. Come and feel it at Baiyun Temple!
The most beautiful time I spent in the ginkgo was when I visited the Wenshu Monastery in Chengdu. When the wind blew through, the scenery was colourful and the ground seemed to be covered in gold. I wished that time would go slower so that I could enjoy the beautiful scenery for longer. Wenshu Monastery is the first of the four major forests in the upper and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. The existing buildings are typical of the ancient style of the western Sichuan Plain. The all-wooden building and the six main halls are on the central axis of the mountain gate. It is magnificent. There is a treasure in the temple. You will get the chance to see the relic of Buddha and Master Xuan Zang’s top bone.

🎈Day2: Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding - Wenshu Monastery - Wangping Street - East Suburb Memory
🎈Day3: People's Park - Chengdu Museum - Wuhou Shrine - Jinli
📍 Chunxi Road: Similar to Shanghai's Nanjing Road, Chongqing's Jiefangbei, and Beijing's Wangfujing. The place of the internet-famous climbing panda at ifs, on the 7th floor of the mall, better to go in the morning when there are fewer people. Next to it, Taikoo Li has many street photographers and beauties.
📍 Tianfu Square: Located in the very center of Chengdu, it is the symbol of the city.
📍 People's Park: A microcosm of Chengdu's slow pace of life, many locals spend the whole day here, drinking tea, ear picking, playing cards, chatting. Heming Teahouse and Zhong's Dumplings are in partnership, you can have tea and eat Zhong's Dumplings at the same time, 🚩 recommended Zhong's Dumplings and Sweet Water Noodles. There are also performances inside Heming Teahouse.
📍 Wide and Narrow Alley: This ancient Qing Dynasty street composed of Wide Alley, Well Alley, and Narrow Alley is one of the must-experience 'most Chengdu' attractions.
📍 Qingyang Palace: Known as 'the first Taoist temple in West Sichuan', inside the Sanqing Hall are two bronze goats, the one on the left is said to be transformed from the attendant of the Green Emperor. You can also draw lots and have them interpreted in the last San Guan Hall.
📍 Du Fu Thatched Cottage: Du Fu came to Sichuan due to war, and built a thatched cottage and elegant residence by the Huanhua Stream in Chengdu, where he wrote a large number of poems, most of which describe the local scenery and express his feelings and thoughts against the backdrop of his own situation and the social context. The song 'The Thatched Hut Torn Apart by the Autumn Wind' was written in the Chengdu Thatched Cottage.
📍 Wuhou Shrine: It is the only temple in China where a monarch and his ministers are enshrined together and the most famous memorial place for Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei, and the heroes of Shu Han, as well as the most influential Three Kingdoms relic museum in the country. For those interested in the Three Kingdoms, it's worth a visit. The red wall outside is also a popular spot for social media check-ins~
📍 Jiuyan Bridge: The bar street of Jiuyan Bridge is where you can truly feel the charm of the city that Zhao Lei sang about in 'Chengdu'. There are many great Livehouses
Wander through the ancient charm of Shu capital, seeking the secret garden of Wenshu Monastery
During your trip to Chengdu, even if you are not a Buddhist, Wenshu Monastery is a highly recommended place to visit. This ancient temple, with a history of over 1400 years, offers a profound cultural heritage and a tranquil and elegant atmosphere. As you stroll through the garden and sip a cup of authentic covered-bowl tea, you can enjoy endless comfort.
Wenshu Monastery is located in Qingyang District of Chengdu, founded during the Sui Dynasty's Daye years (605-617 AD). It is not only recognized by the State Council as one of the key Buddhist temples nationwide but also stands out among the four major Zen forests along the Yangtze River, and is listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Sichuan Province. It ingeniously integrates the functions of Zen forest sanctuaries, classical gardens, tourist attractions, and religious studies, making it a treasure of Buddhist culture.
The monastery covers an area of about 200,000 square meters, and its architectural complex fully demonstrates the typical ancient architectural style of the Western Sichuan Plain. With six main halls as the central axis, facing the mountain gate, it presents a majestic and solemn scene. The temple houses more than three hundred Buddha statues, and the craftsmanship of wood carving, stone carving, and clay sculpture is exquisite and outstanding. A large number and variety of cultural relics from different dynasties have been unearthed, such as stone carvings from the Liang Dynasty and iron-cast talismans from the Tang and Song Dynasties, which are of great historical value.
Among them, Xi Tea Garden, as a traditional old teahouse within Wenshu Monastery, is one of the most completely preserved places that showcase the old Chengdu folk customs and local culture. Here, you can hold a tea boat, tea bowl, and tea cover, savor the unique charm of Sichuan's covered-bowl tea, and listen to the performances of folk artists, immersing yourself in the rich atmosphere of Western Sichuan.
Opening hours: Daily from 8:00 to 17:00
Admission: Free (no reservation required), you can receive three incense sticks per person for free upon entering the temple, no additional purchase is necessary.
Lamp offering fee: 15 RMB per lamp
Transportation guide: Take Metro Line 1 directly to Wenshu Monastery

Overall, it was great! Originally planned to rent a car to Dujiangyan for a day trip, but the car rental rejected my order twice, so I had to return early.

After exiting the second hall, you can also walk to the Wenshu Pavilion.
.
For vegetarian meals, tea drinking, and scripture transcription, head behind the fifth great hall: Xiangxin Hall offers self-service vegetarian meals.
In Fuhui Hall, you can order a pot of tea, sit down to start transcribing scriptures in a comfortable and peaceful environment, which is very suitable for quiet contemplation and writing.
.
Finally, the distribution area is located at the exit. It's a bit small inside, and it gets quite crowded, but there are many prayer bead bracelets and pendants available for purchase. I hope everyone can find one that they feel a connection with~

Listen to my advice, this is how you should plan your weekend trip to Chengdu!
Chongqing to Chengdu is really convenient, I went again last month, this time the Chengdu trip was both serious and casual, and later sent to 3 friends who went to Chengdu, they also think this itinerary is very good, share it with friends who may want to play in Chengdu.👍😄
🚄Transportation: Go to Shapingba Station, buy tickets to Chengdu East Station, it only takes a little over an hour! I chose to stay near Chunxi Road, which is convenient to go anywhere.
1⃣️The first stop was People's Park, which is simply a 'Peach Blossom Land in the hustle and bustle of the world'! You can drink tea, row boats, commemorate the martyrs, and even visit the famous blind date corner.🚇Take the subway line 2 and get off at People's Park Station, then walk for 5 minutes.🔥After playing here, I casually went to a hot pot restaurant recommended by a friend, the price was quite affordable, and the taste was similar to that of Chongqing.
2⃣️Dongjiao Memory, a famous City walk street in Chengdu, the whole block is very industrial style, there are many unique small shops inside, all dressed up very well, suitable for taking pictures, especially the Chengdu big word wall and the locomotive square are very photogenic.🚇Take the subway line 8 and get off at Dongjiao Memory Station B1 exit.
3⃣️Jiuyan Bridge, if you want to experience Chengdu's nightlife, you can come here, there are many small bars, you can have a drink with friends, the night view is very beautiful, there is also a night tour of Jinjiang project, but I think the boat ticket is a bit expensive, I didn't take it haha.🚇Take the subway line 6 and get off at Niuwangmiao Station H2 exit.🔥I saved the boat ticket and went to Jiefang West Road for a barbecue. I think there is a difference between Chengdu's barbecue and Chongqing's. They grill it drier, but overall it's delicious.
4⃣️Wenshu Monastery, it's almost New Year, you can go to Wenshu Monastery, burn incense and worship Buddha, drink tea and eat vegetarian food, touch the 'fortune' for a good omen, and the red wall is also very photogenic, there is also a palace pastry next to it, but you have to queue up.🚇Take the subway line 1 and get off at Wenshu Monastery Station K exit.
5⃣️The last stop, you can stroll around IFS and Taikoo Li, after all, many brands don't have stores in Chongqing, only Chengdu has, then go to the top of IFS and take a photo with the panda building, then end the trip and return to Chongqing.
This way, you won't be tired after two days of strolling, and you've played everything you should. I also ate sweet water noodles, spicy food, rabbit head on Chunxi Road, all of which were casually found at roadside stalls, and I can't remember the name a bit

Wenshu Monastery‖A pure land, three pillars of fragrance, much joy, peace in Chang'an
Wenshu Monastery, the first of the four major Zen forests along the Yangtze River in China, is located in the center of Chengdu city. It is a Buddhist sacred place that integrates Zen forest sacred land, ancient garden architecture, pilgrimage sightseeing, and religious study. The monastery was first built during the Daye period of the Sui Dynasty (605-617 AD), initially named Xinxian, and has gone through several dynasties. It was destroyed by war at the end of the Ming Dynasty.
In the 36th year of Kangxi (1697 AD), it was rebuilt by the Zen master Cidu Haiyue. At that time, people often saw the light of fire in the night sky. They followed the traces to the place where Cidu monk practiced, and they said it was the incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva, so it was renamed 'Wenshu Monastery'.
In the 40th year of Kangxi (1701 AD), Emperor Kangxi bestowed a plaque with the words 'Kong Lin', so Wenshu Monastery is also known as 'Kong Lin Hall'. The monastery houses a large number of precious treasures, books and paintings, among which the relics of Tang Xuanzang, the 'Huayan Sutra' written in tongue blood, the Guanyin with hair, the palm-leaf sutra, and the calligraphy and paintings of Kangxi, Guo Qinwang, Liu Tang, Zhang Daqian, Xie Wuliang, Feng Zikai and other masters are particularly famous.

Wenshu Monastery is the most well-preserved Buddhist temple in Chengdu, also known as 'Konglin Hall'. Facing south from the north, the architecture is a typical ancient style of the western Sichuan plain, mainly wooden buildings. It was first built during the Daye period of the Sui Dynasty, and has gone through the Tang, Five Dynasties, Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties. It used to be called Xiangxiangyuan or Xiangxiang Temple, and it was not until the 36th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1697) that it was renamed Wenshu Monastery.
People come here in an endless stream, people from all over the world speak different dialects, wear different clothes, have different skin colors, but they all come to the same place for one purpose - blessings will come.
Although it is built in the city, there is no hustle and bustle of the city here, only the melodious bell sound and the echo of Buddhist scriptures.

Ginkgo and ancient temples! The limited romance of Chengdu that cannot be missed
Red wall ancient temple, here is the Wenshu Monastery in Chengdu. In December, the ginkgo in the temple is intensely yellow. You don't even need to enter the temple.
The two ginkgo trees with golden leaves at the entrance
Will tell you: This is the limited romance of Chengdu.
Wenshu Monastery was built during the Daye period of the Sui Dynasty. The main deity worshipped is Manjusri Bodhisattva, covering an area of more than 200,000 square meters. As you enter from the entrance, the bell tower and drum tower are located at both ends. A century-old ginkgo tree is lush.
The golden ginkgo and the green tiles of the bell and drum road complement each other.
This is one of the most popular check-in points in the entire temple.
If you want fewer people, go to the temple garden.
There are many ginkgos next to the three-story Wenshu Pavilion.
The pavilion and ginkgo are more antique and poetic compared to the city, and more romantic.

Sichuan Tourism | Chengdu Must-Visit - The Old Brand Blessing Holy Land - Wenshu Monastery
Every time I come to Chengdu, I always feel that something is missing if I don't visit Wenshu Monastery, especially this time on a special day. The pilgrims who come to worship even include Tibetans from the western Sichuan Tibetan area, because Manjushri Bodhisattva also has a very high status in Tibetan Buddhism, and the chanting of scriptures is endless, extremely sacred.🙏
The Hall of Heavenly Kings was built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and was rebuilt in the first year of the Daoguang period (1821). The sculptures of the two generals and the Four Heavenly Kings in the hall are all works from the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty.
The Guanyin Hall, a single-eave Xieshan-style building, was built in the 36th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1697) and was rebuilt in the 20th year of Jiaqing (1815).
The bronze statues of Guanyin, Manjushri, and Samantabhadra in the hall were cast in the ninth year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1829). The Guan Shengdi and Wenchang Emperors on the left and right were sculpted during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty.
The bronze statue of Weituo Bodhisattva behind the hall is a masterpiece, 2 meters high, cast in the ninth year of Daoguang (1829). This Weituo is a 'one-time casting' whole bronze statue, which has a high cultural value.
The Daxiong Hall was built in the 36th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1697) and was rebuilt in the sixth year of Qianlong (1741). The statue of Sakyamuni Buddha in the hall was cast in the ninth year of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1829).
The Sutra Tower was built in the 36th year of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty and was rebuilt in the twelfth year of Jiaqing. It is a very tall building with double eaves and Xieshan-style. In the middle of the hall is a very perfect Burmese jade Buddha, as well as eighteen Arhats and twenty-four gods.
The Thousand Buddha Peace Pagoda and garden, the Thousand Buddha Peace Pagoda in the garden was built in 1988. Although the pagoda itself is not a cultural relic, its overall shape is beautiful, solemn, very three-dimensional, adding glory to the ancient temple.

It was built in the Southern and Northern Dynasties and is one of the key Buddhist temples in China. It is also one of the earliest Buddhist temples in Chengdu. It is now one of Chengdu's famous attractions, but it is different from the wide and narrow alleys and Jinli. The Wenshu Monastery of Chengdus well-placed land is as clean as the mountains.
Come in from the Wenshufang archway, a red wall attracts many photographers to take pictures here, especially when the afternoon sun shines, the red wall tree has a charm.
Qingwa red wall, there are two worlds outside the wall, which will block the eclipse. Inside, Zen, quiet, no struggle, walking in the heart of people's self-conscious peace, crowded outside, noisy, secular, living the existing face.
Wenshu Monastery belongs to a well-preserved temple. The building is dominated by all-wood. The existing buildings belong to the typical style of the ancient Sichuan Plain, which is very contemporary.
The courtyard is covered with trees, beautiful scenery, pavilions and pavilions, and many people are chatting and enjoying a leisurely and comfortable look.
I am not a Buddhist enthusiast. I dont want to burn incense and worship Buddha. But I like to walk in and feel this quiet place. Maybe there are many people like me, not to burn incense and worship Buddha. In this vast city, occasionally escape the hustle and bustle of life, come here to give yourself a moment of peace.
When walking, I feel the majesty of the ancient temple. How small is the person standing there, walking is a kind of enjoyment, an unconstrained relaxation.

Wenshu Monastery is located in Qingyang District of Chengdu. It is a good place to pray for incense and burn incense. It is the first of the four major Buddhist forests in the upper and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. Wenshu Monastery, as a temple, the scale of Wenshu Monastery is very large, perhaps because of the preservation. But perhaps expansion is inevitable. Wenshu Monastery has a long history. According to legend, when the Emperor of the Sui Dynasty, the son of Emperor Wendi, Wang Xixius pet, was built for the "Sony" of the time, so he called the Xinxiang Temple.
Wenshuyuan is facing south and approaching Wenshuyuan. The first thing that catches the eye is the wall opposite the three doors. The main hall of Daxiong was the third entrance hall, the Zen master of Cixi was built, and the monk of Zhang Bo was rebuilt. There is a tall glass enamel in the temple, and the Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, who is dedicated to the bronze cast, sits on the statue. The left and right statues of Kaye and Ananda are cast in bronze.
The four-in-one hall is the saying hall, and it is said that it is the site of the ancient letter phase temple. There is a brick ring in the hall. The middle wall is inlaid with the words "Kanglin" in the Kangxi handwritten book; there is a pharmacist Buddha under the dome of the central hall, and there are 12 medicinal forks. The Jingjing Building was the fifth entrance hall, and the Cixi Zen Master was created. The Jingjing Building is divided into two layers of Wenshuyuan. The existing buildings are typical of the ancient style of the western Sichuan Plain. The all-wooden building, the six-fold main hall is on the central axis of the mountain gate, and it is magnificent and magnificent.
The Wenshu Monastery was built in the year 605 AD of the Sui Dynasty. It was officially put into use in 517 AD and has a history of thousands of years. After several changes in the dynasty, each dynasty paid great attention to the Wenshu Monastery. The emperors of each dynasty would maintain this Wenshu Monastery, and not all gold and silver treasures to build this ancient temple. Therefore, in Chengdu Wenshuyuan, you can always see the millennium monuments, and these monuments can even personally experience the sense of vicissitudes of history and the precipitation of time. It is no exaggeration to say that Chengdu Wenshuyuan is a Buddhist temple that is composed of national treasures and cultural relics from both inside and outside. Such a Buddhist temple may not be open to the public. Even if it is open, it is scary for high fees. However, such a Wenshuyuan is actually open to visitors for free all the year round. It suddenly feels that this ancient temple has a flat attitude towards the people rather than looking down on all beings. It feels very good. After arriving in Chengdu, the Wenshu Monastery of this millennium ancient Buddhist temple was indispensable.
The beautiful jade hides the stone, and the lotus leaves the mud. There must be troubles, and the realization is Bodhi. Qing Dynasty ancient Buddha Zen life, life is tasteful, taste life. Chengdu Wenshu Monastery, a famous temple with a strong Zen, is worth a short visit.
The Wenshu Pavilion and Wenshulou (Shangketang), which were built at the end of 1997, have been successfully completed (the underground parking garages on the ground floor of the two floors). It is a typical grand building of modern temples, reflecting the characteristics of modern temple architecture. Wenshu Pavilion covers an area of 1
Among the temples in Chengdu, the most famous one is the Wenshu Monastery. In the past, Wenshu Monastery has been relatively low-key, not a popular tourist attraction, but now there are more and more tourists to Wenshuyuan.
Wenshuyuan is located in the center of the city, with convenient transportation. The temple was built in the period of the great dynasty (605-617). It has a history of 1400 years. It is said that the son of Emperor Wendi of the Sui Dynasty was the favorite of Wang Yangxiu. The "Sony" letter was built, so it is called the Xinxiang Temple.
occupies an area of 200,000 square meters. Wenshu Monastery retains the ancient style of the typical western Sichuan Plain. It is a wooden sacred place. It is a Buddhist holy place that integrates the sacred sacred lands, ancient gardens, pilgrimages and religious studies.
Wenshuyuan has a strong incense, although the sky is getting darker when it comes in, there are still many pilgrims coming to pray, and there is no end to it. In the autumn season, the ginkgo in the temple turned yellow, and it became a good place to take pictures.
At the end of the Ming Dynasty, this temple was destroyed by fire. Only 10 statues of iron-casting guards and two thousand-year-old cedars survived. It was not until the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty that the temple was rebuilt and expanded to form today's scale.
Kangxi forty-one years (1702), Emperor Kangxi gave the "empty forest" slogan banner, sent a special envoy to Wenshuyuan, so Wenshuyuan is also known as "empty forest hall."
Chengdu is a famous tourist city in China, and there are many popular tourist attractions. When it comes to the must-see attractions of Chengdu, there will definitely be Wenshu Monastery.
Speaking of the name "Wenshu Yuan", if it is a friend who is not familiar with Chengdu culture, I am afraid it is hard to think that this is a temple, because we usually see the temple name is called "XX Temple" or "XX Temple" "The name of the temple named "Yuanshu", which is named after the "Yuanshu", is really rare and impressive.
More importantly, "Wenshu Yuan" is such a world-famous important Buddhist temple, and it is also a famous tourist attraction in Chengdu, but it does not accept tickets at all, everyone can freely enter and exit, which is a big flood of domestic tourist tickets. Under the circumstances, it is very rare.
Not only the tickets are not accepted, and the "Xinshiyuan" is free of charge. After you enter the door, you can collect three incense at the entrance.
Tickets are free and free of charge. It is no wonder that Wenshuyuan will be supported and respected by so many people. It is no wonder that the incense is strong and it is not bad all the year round. There are many tourists who say that temples like Wenshuyuan It is a true "conscience temple"!
It is very sensible to walk through a red wall from the Wenshuyuan archway. Many people take pictures from this place. The red wall at the entrance has almost become a photo-taking place for the Ba Ping because of the light and shadow. In Wenshuyuan, there are free people to explain freely at different times of the day. You can follow the volunteer guide to listen to the story of Wenshuyuan. We came late and only heard a short story of the Tibetan Pavilion. But still very exciting. Wenshuyuan faces south and covers an area of over 200,000 square meters. The temple is five-fold, and the entrance to the mountain gate is followed by the Heavenly King Hall, the Three Great Earth Halls, the Daxiong Hall, the Tang Hall, and the Tibetan Classics. It takes an hour to follow the tour guide.
The ginkgo leaves that fly in the sky make the Wenshu Monastery infiltrated in the rich autumn colors. Although there is less winter sun, the golden earth still warms you and me. A heart lamp, two cups of fragrant scent, three confidants... Depicting a beautiful autumn scenery of Rongcheng. Wenshuyuan has a special scene, that is, dam tea. Under the big trees and in the courtyard, many people can see small tables and padded cushions, water bottles and tea sets, and fruit snacks. Many of them are laymen and believers, and they communicate with tourists here. Discussing Buddhist knowledge and so on, it also formed a unique landscape of Wenshuyuan.
The first place to come to Chengdu is Wenshu Monastery, because it has been five minutes since I lived nearby. Here is a Buddhist shrine. The most impressive thing about me here is the large ginkgo in front of Wenshu Pavilion. The yellow is full of beautiful scenery, and here is also the place with the most people. Many people take pictures here. The Wenshu Monastery is a collection of cultural relics and treasures. There are more than 300 Buddha statues here. It is really rich, and there are no tickets here, you can play for a long time. Now this season is very suitable for shooting, ginkgo is full of yellow, a gust of wind blowing, ginkgo rain is really good.
There are many temples in Chengdu. The most famous one is the Wenshu Monastery. It is said that in ancient times, when someone saw the Manjushri, he became the name of Wenshu Monastery. Wenshu Monastery is the first of the four major Buddhist forests in the upper and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China, and is also the most intact Buddhist temple in Chengdu. The red wall outside the courtyard has also become a network of red photos to come here to check in. The visit to Wenshuyuan also started from here. I feel that this red dress worn today is a bit out of touch with this red wall. If you put on a photo of a different color skirt, the photos may be more beautiful. This is a new day, a brand new beginning. In the morning, a warm sun shines on the red wall, penetrates the leaves of the trees that have grown here for decades, and shines on the red walls with different sizes of trunks and foliage. The shadow. Pick a place without shadows, face the sun, let the sun sway on the face, and gently press the shutter, a light and shadow art is created.
