Where to even begin.. I spent a week in this hostel with my boyfriend. After reading the reviews, we were so excited to get to this hostel as it seemed like the place to be. Most definitely not. We felt like we had been catfished, this hostel is VERY small, like extremely small. We attempted cooking in the kitchen once, never again, the kitchen is tiny. I understand if it’s a small hostel your kitchen doesn’t need to be huge but the kitchen is absolutely tiny everyone is on top of each other, and the ovens don’t even work. It’s literally like a narrow hallway. Also... the photos online suggest there’s a room with a pool table, another room with a TV etc., it’s all crammed in one room. Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Although, the worst part about this hostel is the location, no one seems to mention the fact that King’s Cross is absolutely full of homeless people on the streets constantly off their face on drugs, I mean FULL of them. We both felt very unsafe and uneasy just walking the streets, I’ve never seen anything like it and we’re from Leeds so that says something. So if you’re planning on visiting Sydney, I strongly recommend staying away from the Kings Cross area altogether.

Absolutely terrible service. I booked this place before an early flight from Sydney the next morning and it was a last minute trip due to the rain storms in NSW that weekend. During a 5 hour train journey from Albion Park (that should actually take 1.5hrs) it became clear that we weren't going to make the midnight check in time, as landslides meant we had to take a bus replacement service. I tried multiple times to contact the hotel but to no avail and so I requested a free cancellation. I didn't get another response until nearly midnight on the day of the booking, by which point I had obviously booked another place to stay. The response said that I couldn't cancel for free as it was within 24 hours of booking. The response failed to address that I had requested to cancel within 15 minutes of booking and that I only cancelled on the basis that I wasn't going to be able to get there for their check in restrictions due to the adverse weather. Funnily enough it looks like we missed a treat with the amount of reviews that mention cockroaches crawling over the beds!! I've tried about 10 times since to contact this place and have had not one response regarding this. Truly dreadful service & such a shame that it's tainted our holiday experience. DO NOT GIVE THIS CORRUPT BUSINESS YOUR MONEY! F**k you Cambridge Lodge.

Clean hostel with friendly staff. Rooms were spacious with large lockers for each occupant and personal plugs and bed side lights in a great position. Showers/toilets on each floor and I never had to wait to use them. Downside is that you can hear the music from their basement club even on the 6th floor until late into the night. Didn’t bother me as I was only there a few nights and I managed to get enough sleep. Kitchen is WAY too small for amount of guests in the hostel. The social events put on by the hostel were a good way to meet people as a solo female traveller.

I’ll start with the positive, the woman on reception was really friendly and polite. That was it. The room was absolutely disgusting, I had to swat about 5 mosquitoes, and the walls were covered in squished bugs from previous tenants. The room itself was tiny, the ‘en suite’ was like Harry Potter’s bedroom. Sheets were just thrown on the bed and we had to put them ourselves (boo hoo). No towels were provided. The beds were made of concrete. The walls were paper thin and unbelievably co**** which when getting down from the bunkbed I grazed my arm. Other tenants just pile out into the street making the place look so uninviting. I feel sorry for actual residents on that street it must be hell. In the reception area, they left the dirty laundry basket that was FILLED with bloody tissues just out in the open for guests to see. If you want a good night sleep don’t go here. If you want to just listen to loud club music against your will maybe this is the place for you.

We need to take a rest overnight in Sydney, because the arrival is late, and the departure is early. I meant to book a hotel near the airport, and the homepage says the shuttle airport shuttle is set. As a result, it was only available during the day of consultation. I do n’t know. Fortunately, I contacted Ctrip customer service to solve the problem perfectly. I asked the customer service to call for a car the next morning, but after waiting for 50 minutes, I almost missed the plane. And as other friends have said, to use a credit card as a deposit, what kind of damage can we do in the middle of the night to leave early in the morning? I really do n’t trust myself!
