This is my second trip to Shenzhen in the past 20 years, and my friend (who I call Gege) has recommended this hotel. My flight was late at night; the receptionist barely understands English, but they love to help. My room was on the 4th floor. It was a mini single room type, but it has every facility I need. The room is clean—not that new, but more spacious than I thought. The only thing they don't provide here in this room type is a refrigerator. But it is fine with me. The breakfast is lovely. I tried everything except the congee because I didn't know how to order it. Oh, but you need to ask for the ”zhāo cháng quán” at the reception counter if you book the room that includes breakfast. It will serve from 7.30 a.m. until around 10 a.m.   I love the location of this hotel so much. It is located on the beautiful boulevard and just a few minutes away from OCT Loft, the art square. Lawson is just around the corner, as is the pharmacy, as well as some local restaurants. The Qiaocheng East Metro station is about 7 minutes away, but walking along the boulevard makes it feel like 3 minutes to me. The housekeepers are nice. Actually, everyone at the hotel is. I mentioned the housekeeper because she cleans my room every day, and that's what I need from coming back to travel for a whole day, but I feel that it was extra clean as she changed my towel and put in new, clean amenities for me every day. I tried to communicate with her on my third day and showed her my appreciation for her work. On my last day of staying at this hotel, I left a note on the bed, written in my bad handwriting in Chinese. I hope she will find it. The receptionist on that day also helped me call a taxi when my phone application was not working.   I love everything in this hotel. The price is reasonable. I won't say cheap. You get what you pay for, and for me, I got a little more than I expected. I'll be back once every year and will definitely book this hotel again.   If you are a solo traveler and looking for a lovely hotel in a nice location, not as busy in the city, and love the arts and a bit of strolling on the greenery boulevard, then H'Life Hotel (OCT Loft) or Huali Hotel is what you need. And booking with Trip.com is my best choice. My flight was cancelled once when the typhoon hit Shenzhen early this month. I had to cancel at the last minute, but I booked it with the free cancellation option. So, all was well. I got the refund later and then booked it again in the next 2 weeks. So please keep your good quality and maintain this standard, and then I will come back and recommend people come here too. See you again next year!

[About the environment] The room is very big! Very neat and very bright~ The bathroom and toilet are separated (the sink is only in the bathroom, so you still have to wash your hands after using the toilet. It would be perfect if the toilet can also be equipped with a faucet) [About sleep] There is almost no noise when the windows are closed. The bed is moderately soft and the pillows are okay. However, I don’t particularly recognize beds, so I slept well. [About in-room facilities] There is a refrigerator! Although I didn’t use it this time, I was still very surprised~ There is a bottle of Coke and a Sprite in the refrigerator. Of course, there are 2 bottles of regular mineral water, tea bags, coffee, etc. on the table; there are enough hangers (but there is a cloth under the clothes drying rod. There are light mildew spots, which may be caused by the previous tenants drying dripping clothes. It is recommended to lay out materials that are not prone to mold or add a floor-standing coat rack); there are sockets at the table, which is very convenient for using the computer. [About facilities outside the room] There are public open spaces in the lobby on the first floor and the 21st floor - I don't know much about other floors - which is convenient for discussion and rest. [About the elevator] The running speed is slow, the space is small, and the number is small. The waiting time for the elevator is a little long, but it is within the acceptable range. [About service] The staff are very enthusiastic! Any problems will be dealt with promptly! Worth a thumbs up! Because my stay this time was relatively short, I didn’t take too many photos. Overall, it’s worth recommending!

The location is great. There is a subway station 50 meters away. The transportation is very convenient. For this reason, it deserves a five-star rating. Across the road is the Splendid China Folk Village, which is very suitable for families and couples to visit. You can stay here when you are tired from playing in the park. It is convenient. The decoration style of the store feels very simple and fashionable. The staff at the front desk are warm and attentive. The room is clean and tidy. The bed is comfortable and I sleep very comfortably. It was a good experience and worth recommending.

The service was excellent. The staff friendly and helpful. The hotel could benefit of redecoration of the guestrooms, as it's showing wear. Electrical outlets should be updated and the lighting could be separated for various times of use, such as bright, or subdued lighting. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast had a lot of offerings, well presented.

Incredible jaw dropping outdoor heated pool and unheated children’s water playground. A private fake beach connected to a 1.4m depth pool. Perfect for my 1 and 5 yo. Not many staff speak English so unfortunately difficult to get any decent service - even from concierge for a simple restaurant recommendation was painful. Watch out for mould in the pool. Needs closer cleaning. The room is so old and tired but they try their hardest to keep it clean. Unfortunately the ventilation in the toilet was terrible and the room smelt like sewage. Loud clubbing music was playing outside the window facing the pool until at least 9pm - I fell asleep to the sound of the beat. There’s no sound insulation so not great for light sleepers - heard 5-6 other guests walking back to their rooms at night.

It has been 10 years. Although it is not very new, the service is pretty good and the room is large. I originally booked the room type in OCT. The lady at the front desk also upgraded me to a room to watch the Happy Coast Theater. Because I stayed here 8 years ago, I have a bit of a memory complex, so I stayed here again!

Shenzhen: A Glimpse into the Future

From a small fishing village to a bustling metropolis, Shenzhen's transformation over the past few decades is nothing short of extraordinary. Located in southeastern China, bordering Hong Kong to the south, Shenzhen is a city of gleaming skyscrapers, sprawling tech campuses, and vibrant culture. Known as China's Silicon Valley, it's a beacon of innovation and modernity.

Tips for Travelling to Shenzhen

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport connects the city to various international destinations. Shenzhen is also conveniently linked to China's high-speed rail network. The Shenzhen Metro is a popular mode of transportation within the city.

The official currency is the Chinese Yuan (CNY). The main modes of payments are usually through AliPay or WeChat Pay. The official language is Mandarin, though Cantonese and English are also widely spoken in business and tourist areas.

For visa requirements, most travelers will need a Chinese visa. However, Shenzhen offers a 5-day visa on arrival to certain nationalities. Do check with your local Chinese embassy or consulate for the latest visa information.

Weather & Best Time to Visit Shenzhen

Shenzhen experiences a subtropical climate, with temperatures ranging from 15°C in winter to 31°C in summer. The city has a wet season from April to September, with the rest of the year being relatively dry. The best time to visit is from October to December when the weather is pleasant and there is less rainfall. Light, breathable clothing is recommended, along with a good pair of walking shoes.

Choosing Your Hotel in Shenzhen

For luxury stays near shopping and entertainment, consider The Langham, Shenzhen, located in the Futian district. Tech enthusiasts might prefer a hotel in the Nanshan district, like the Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen, close to many tech company headquarters.

If you're on a budget, the Shenzhen Dongmen Colour Hotel offers good value for money, while for Instagrammable aesthetics, the stylishly modern Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen, is a great choice.
