location is great for the town and Nappa Hai Lake which was awesome.A beautiful hotel full of culture. Beds are the comfiest in the world! Carol on reception was superb and help us out of a very stressful situation when the airport was closed because of snow. We were exceptionally grateful for her excellent english skills. Mark the waiter/ noodle chef was also extremely helpful. He spoke no English but was very patient with my Chinese. Many staff were off sick with covid as it was a few days after restrictions were lifted when we visited. Still everyone was working twice as hard to cover their colleagues. This lead to one of our rooms not being cleaned one day. Not the end of the world. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The room is nice, Tibetan style, with complete equipment. Ms. Lazheng at the front desk helped me upgrade the suite. You can see the Dafo Temple from the front window, and the ancient city dwellings from the back window. The view is quite good. Stayed for one more night, and it rained on the second night. It was very comfortable to open the window to listen to the sound of rain at night. I was traveling alone, and La Zheng and Uncle Dawa were very friendly and enthusiastic throughout the whole process, picking up and dropping off the trip, recommending restaurants and attractions, and helping to avoid pits and lightning. The whole experience is very comfortable. I originally planned to change the hotel experience after staying for one day. It was so comfortable to stay for another night. We chose this hotel for its new and modern rooms kitted with oxygen supply. We were pleased with the welcome drinks and fresh towels upon arrival. We loved our room, which included a comfortable bed, open concept bathroom with strong shower pressure, choice of designer toiletries, automated oxygen supply after 630pm to help with the high altitude, a 100 inch Xiaomi TV and quality tea minibar snacks in the room lounge area. We wished we could have a better view than the building next door but this is a small issue as we were out most of the time. We enjoyed the good night dessert left in our room every night, and we had ample Tibetan breakfast every morning, which kept us energised till afternoon. (You can also choose Chinese and Western breakfast.) The hotel provides free bottled water in the lobby, convenient before stepping out or returning from a long day. We thought there was a butler service to help with maps, travel information, transportation or tours in and around Shangri-La but maybe we were mistaken. The two female reception staff and concierge were friendly and helpful in answering our questions but they were also busy doubling up as room and breakfast service staff. Despite this, they did a good job of tending to many guests. Location of the hotel is outside of the old town. We have to take a 12-15 minute walk along a side road and cross an avenue to get to the bridge that leads you to the entrance of the old town. Not to worry, if you do not wish to walk to town (or walk back at night), taxis or DiDi aren't expensive. We would still recommend the hotel for its great value.
