A charming well located hotel with stunning views of the château from the quaint courtyard. Service was excellent, staff welcoming and very friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I loved the close proximity to the town centre which is full of charm and character and the Loire across the road! The buffet breakfast was excellent served in a pleasant dining room. The sauna and pool area provided a great place to relax and unwind at the end of a days kayaking, hiking, cycling visiting the many chateau or historically interesting places in the surrounding area as we did.

When I booked on the phone via the app booking, I received a message indicating that there was a network problem and that I had to start again. When I arrived at the hotel, I realized the double booking and I warned the receptionist from my arrival, 5 minutes after booking online. As a group of three we were touring Belgium/France on our motorcycles. After a 12 hour, gruelling day on the motorcycles we arrived at this Hotel a little later than planned; 9.00pm rather than the 7:30pm.After getting access to our rooms we went straight to the Hotel restaurant for our dinner. At 9:10 pm were were curtly told by the restaurant manager that dinner service ended at 9:00pm and flatly refused to serve us. After some negotiations we were allowed to order our dinner. There was no need to be so unpleasant. We had booked a twin bedded room and a single. The twin bedded room was very small for two people compared to the huge room occupied by one person. Very strange! The buffet breakfast was comprehensive and there was something for everyone. As it was only a stay for a single night we did not make a fuss to the management but compared to some of the other Hotels we had used in France this place was pretty mediocre and very unfriendly.

Firstly this hotel is in a great location and only a ten minute walk to the centre. The receptionist and the woman who was in charge of breakfast were both great. The room however was in desperate need of refurbishment. Initially our air conditioning wasn't working but the receptionist (she seemed to be doubling up as maintenance) came up and replaced/cleaned the filter and it was fine after that. The bathroom was a mess. Someone has decided to paint the area around the sink with brown paint that isn't waterproof. Everything that touched it (toothbrushes, towels, shaver, etc,) came away stained. I mentioned this at checkout but the receptionist didn't seem surprised or particularly interested. I suspect she knows about it. Breakfast was fine. Private parking is very tight. If you have a larger car I wouldn't bother, I'd stick to the street outside. We have a VW Golf and it was difficult to manoeuvre in and out. Oh then there's the price. We were quoted 11 euros on arrival, then 10 euros on checkout. My wife then pointed out it says 9 euros on the tariff notice in reception and that suddenly became the price! Overall then the hotel is in a good position but in need of some investment. Its a long way past its best

The hotel was very warm (fortunately it was not the canicule) and the household was packed (sud glass, a vacuum cleaner I had to empty before using it ) . The site is only pedestrian, it is not too disturbing except for it is rain because it is small roads of ponds and so really very salty for car and housing . The hotel is just opposite the train station, which is very convenient for people who come to me and carry a big bag very late. The room is small and it is a bed, even the table is active. Same, no slippers, no toothbrushes. But the room was clean and there were not many breakfasts, but it was okay. Saumur estimates that no one has a special trip like me, if I really have a train like this. Can be considered, because it is just opposite the station, it is too convenient. Play back and take a bag and set off for the next stop!
