Wow! What a great place - cosy, comfortable, close to town and friendly, accommodating staff but the best part is the food. The best food we ate in 2 weeks across Scotland. If you have the chance to spend a night or weekend in Pitlochry and you're vegan (or just want to sample the best vegan food in the country), book Saorsa!

If you like the idea of a small Scottish hotel stay, but you are vegan, then Saorsa 1875 is for you. The decor is quirky, modern and homely. The staff are excellent. The rooms are beautiful. It is definitely not your aircon, can't open the windows type of place! The grounds are like being in the middle of a wood. We saw a red squirrel - a treat if you are from the Midlands. The food: So lovely not to have to hunt for the vegan option. The tasting menu is delightful, so good we had it twice! We stayed for birthday celebrations. My daughter, aged 24 said that the breakfast is the best ever! We will be back :)

Amazing hotel - the food, the wine, the comfy beds. We had a brilliant time. I'm still thinking about that 5-course dinner menu, which was delicious. It's such a treat to have all that choice of fresh vegan food. Such a friendly welcome from the staff, too; we can't wait to come back.

This is such a lovely hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, staff friendly and helpful, and Pitlochry is lovely. We went for 3 nights, to celebrate a special birthday and our wedding anniversary. We couldn’t have picked anywhere better. BThe food, both from Michael (sous chef) and Patrick ( head chef) was amazing. Highly recommended.

Pros: The hotel is beautiful, from the quirky interiors to the friendly staff, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience to stay at Saorsa 1875. The tasting menu in the evenings was delicious although there were a few dishes that were more miss than hit, but all in all, very good. The kitchen catered for my allergies, which I appreciated. The hotel itself was easy to get to from Edinburgh Airport. Cons: The only complaint I had throughout our stay was that the room was very cold (very cold!) and the water pressure in the showers was abysmal, so much so, it became a point of reference at the other hotels we stayed at throughout the trip. Also, the lack of a complete hot breakfast was surprising. We were given a small dish of scrambled tofu and the next day, a potato hash - both tasty, but small. At other (non-vegan) hotels, we were spoilt for choice with the hot breakfast options for vegans, so for a plant-based hotel we expected a lot more.

The service here is incredible and there's a warmth in the a**osphere where you just feel at home. Guests quietly mingle, chat and play games in the evenings but also respect each others space. This was our second visit, this time with a baby and the staff were so accommodating. Our wee one makes a lot of noise at dinner and feeling bad for the other guests we asked to move dinner to our room, the lovely staff member sat us in the other dining space which was even nicer as we had it to ourselves! After having a blether with some of the guests in the evening (after baby was finally asleep!) they said they weren't bothered by our baby at dinner and could empathise how hard it is! It was all in our head but the staff assisted us anyway :) BREAKFAST is awesome. Oh yes and so lovely that dogs are treated so well here too, I even bumped into a dog I knew from home! We will defo be back.

Staff were absolutely lovely and the hotel is amazing HOWEVER when we went to dine for the £60 tasting menu for my birthday we were seated next to a group of really loud people who basically ruined our evening. They were asked to be quite but instead got louder as they got drunker. I eventually left as me and my friend could not hear each other speak and was made worse by the loud what felt like out of place dance/club beats music. We eventually moved to an alternative dining with two other people who also disliked the loud music but told the music was the hotels brand, not what I expected at hotel in Scottish countryside during a £60 a head meal. I didn't expect it to be a boozy place and I know you cannot control people but I feel they should have been asked to leave. It ruined my birthday. What also felt bizarre was the loudish emotional music being played at breakfast just as I was enjoying the view outside and my beautiful breakfast. Fine if it's the owners brand I respect that but it should be advertised as a slightly clubby vibe. It distracted from the amazing food and lovely kind and helpful staff. Owner never apologised but lovely staff diff profusely. Did appreciate help with my bed by the owner though. I suppose it's personal choice but I don't drink and cannot handle boozy a**ospheres.

Had a fantastic stay when we visited in March. Amazing food (we pre-booked and had the set menu with paired wine) and great hotel, would definitely recommend to anyone. Service was great and in a lovely location. Would stay there again if we are ever looking to stay in the same area

Our first visit, and a really enjoyable one. Five family members had an evening meal and a one-night stay is what is a really stylish hotel, both in terms of decor and food. The three roooms that we occupied were very different in style, but that made it all the more interesting. Extremely high quality throughout, and great attention to detail.
