Comfort Hotel Xpress Youngstorget

Oslo City Center Oslo|0.24km from Schandorffs plass
If you're travelling solo and want somewhere handy in the centre of Oslo and aren't too fussed about some usual hotel comforts, then this will tick the box. It's not super expensive but it could also be a bit cheaper for what it offers. The rooms feel like university student rooms, which isn't a bad thing per se. I'm unsure what larger rooms looked like but despite mine having a double bed, 2 people would feel pretty cramped in there. The bathroom/shower was good, no fault there. The bed was comfy but the matress tended to slide around. There's no room service for cleaning up or refreshing linen, they do that on rotations of their own choosing. If you really want that service (which in any other hotel is a daily one) you can request I think. This is fine for 1 night but after a while you feel a bit grimy. I found some clumps of hair on the floor and in an underbed drawer. There's no kettle in the room which is the bare basic that a room should have in terms of amenities so people can make their own tea, coffee or noodles etc. You can buy tea or coffee in reception but it's worth just heading outside to grab something. My room didn't have wardrobe storage but did have wall bracket-hangers which did the job. There were plenty of sockets for charging things. Like I said for a person solo travelling and not wanting a hostel, this place is fine for 1 night or 2. I stayed 3 and it was too long in that hotel and too long in Oslo in general.

Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo

Oslo City Center Oslo|0.66km from Schandorffs plass
Arrived on our ferry from Copenhagen before lunch so left luggage and wandered until checkin was possible. All so good so far. When we came to check in we asked to make sure the room didn’t have feather bedding - assured it was clear of feathers, however when went up to room this wasn’t the case. Went down, explained at which point after many discussions (explaining that I’m allergic to feather bedding over and over (as we had with the booking) I was offered another room which apparently was better (but the guy on reception didn’t seem to understand my question as to whether the new room would be free from feathers ….!) Went up to the room and of course it had feather bedding. We moved all of our luggage into the new room and my OH went down to reception this time and the same guy simply didn’t understand what we were explaining so OH requested another member of staff who did understand second time around. (Later bedding was all replaced which was then fine. ) the surprising thing was they had members of staff on reception whose English wasn’t quite up to basic requests (unusual for anywhere in Scandinavia) (while admitting my Norwegian is non-existent!) The bathroom was possibly the smallest I have ever witnessed, albeit it did have a bath with shower over. All v clean and fully functional. The pool and sauna were ok but a little small, but if you timed it you could use them. Generally the staff were a little slow (perhaps the hotel doesn’t have enough staff currently to service guests?) and service alone would put me off coming to stay here again unfortunately.

Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz Oslo

Oslo City Center Oslo|0.31km from Schandorffs plass
The Thon Rosenkrantz is very strategically located just two blocks (or 3 minute walk) from the Parliament, university, main boulevard, and the main shopping streets. The only hotel even mores strategically located would be The Grand. It also sits right on the tram line - talk about convenience in getting around Oslo - just make sure you get the public transport pass that allows you to take bus, tram or metro at no extra cost! The reception staff are all very warm, engaging and accommodating - and we dealt with at least three of them. The breakfast team (Paleo) was less warm by comparison but still helpful when asked. In the two days we were there, the hotel was very busy so Paleo was extremely tight. But the reception boasted that they had the best hotel breakfast in the city - and having tried it twice, I was inclined to believe their boast. They had the orange-squeezing machine that delivered fresh juice, they had both grilled and fresh veggies, their butter was home-made in a large tub that you scooped out of, not those in small plastic containers, they had a bread toaster, the cereal corner had a great spread, and they did the bacon and sausage very well. The rooms are larger than average, with even a small alcove for a sofa set, chair and coffee table, which I found impressive. The bedside tables were of leather though I did find their surface a bit too small. The bathroom was unusually large, with a novel hair-body wash dispenser in the shower. Though I found it odd that there was only one small hook in the entire bathroom. My wife found the toilet seat quite high - probably great for the average Dutch guy but my wife was only 5 feet tall. We also appreciated the coffee maker which seems to becoming a standard for high-class hotels. About the rooms, guests will notice that the room numbers are painted on the door two-foot high! This was the first time we had seen something like this and we took pictures - like jail cells - ha ha ha!

We stayed here for four nights over the Oslo Marathon weekend. We were lucky to have a superior room (only four on each floor by the look of things) and so had plenty of space - indeed our bathroom seemed to be much the same size as the standard room. The bed was very comfy and the room was quiet, with the window facing an internal space. Slept well and pigged out on Sky's coverage of the Queen's death when in the room. Note no tea/coffee/fridge/safe etc in room but all these were available on the ground floor, Breakfast (included in our online offer) was great - the usual Scandi buffet with the only problem being holding back and not overeating. The hotel has a good central location on the west side of central and we found that we could walk everywhere no problem. All in all a great stay and we would certainly consider staying again were we ever to revist Oslo, which I hope we do.

Pros: Good location, directly opposite the Central Railway Station. Within 10 minutes on foot. To catch the train in the morning, you can ask the hotel to pack a simple breakfast in advance. Disadvantages: There is a bad experience from the beginning of the booking, reminding everyone to pay attention to the deduction of the room rate, there may be more deductions, I was deducted hundreds of Norwegian kroner, suddenly the impression of the hotel is not good Later, I returned the money from Ctrip through Ctrip, but I lost a lot of dollars due to the exchange rate difference. This is the most expensive hotel in my trip, but the worst experience. The hotel itself is relatively old, there are many hotels near the train station, it is recommended that you can look at it and compare it.

Pros: 1. The desk clerk waited 45 minutes past the check-in time as my flight was delayed and I needed the clerks help on two separate occasions to open my room door. 2. Breakfast was very good and the location is excellent. 3. There are Rituals bath products available. Cons: 1. My room door was terribly difficult to open- it required a lot of force and maneuvering. 2. Room was small and furniture was oversized for such a compact space making it tricky to move around without hitting my knee. 3. There was no sign available in the room for privacy/cleaning. Had to request one right away. 4. Nobody at the check out desk at 7.30am and had to leave a post it note so I didn’t miss my train and subsequent flight 5. Worst of all, room was not properly cleaned (despite using the newly obtained sign) -it was obvious that the floors were not swept/vacuumed , the top of the chest of drawers were dusty and on the last night of my stay, when I returned, the room door was not closed properly (after the cleaning) and essentially very easy to open. As a solo female traveler, this was disturbing to see. Overall a bit of a disappointment!

A very nice hotel in a quiet area of the city centre, just a few hundred meters from the royal castle. Short distance to the tram if you want to get around, but also in walking distance to the main street in Oslo (Karl Johans gate). The hotel has modern interior with happy colors, and the staff is service oriented. I love this place! The breakfast is good and is in the restaurant named Café Europa. (The café/restaurant is also worth a visit where they have exceptional great service. They also offer the food as takeaway if you want to eat it in your room.)

Clarion Hotel Savoy has got mixed reviews, but our 3-night stay was really pleasant and I would definitely book it again. The hotel has old-time charm, and though the standard room is quite small (compared to the huge bed, which occupied most of the room), it was functional with a beautiful bathroom. The location of Hotel Savoy in the city centre is excellent and unless you want to explore Oslo on foot, you can easily do it by tram or bus. The best part of the stay was the delicious high-quality breakfast and ”light” dinner, which turned out to be a 3-course meal (warm main, soup and various salads). I don’t eat meat so I just asked the staff member in passing if there was any vegetarian warm-dish option and the next night they had prepared delicious chickpea curry as an extra dish for me. That’s what I call real customer service!😀 Also, the afternoon final (coffee and cake) was a plus in this expensive city. The only (tiny) minuses were a very small selection of TV channels and (in my personal opinion) uncomfy pillows (one gigantic, the other flat and lumpy). But after strolling around Oslo for many hours and enjoying the evening meal, those issues didn’t prevent us from sleeping well in our quiet room facing the inner yard.
Scandic St. Olavs Plass

Oslo City Center
Location: The hotel belongs to the city center, within a 10-minute walk to the University of Oslo, the Royal Palace, and the shopping street. The door is the statue of the first picture 🗿. Buy FLY1 tickets directly at the airport, 25 minutes to the National Theater Station, and a 10-minute walk to the hotel. Room: The room is very small and well-equipped, even with an ironing board. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. The bathroom has floor heating, which is very comfortable. The balcony is very large, 3-4 square meters visually. Food: The breakfast was very generous, I didn't shoot the whole thing, and a bunch of sausage bacon and meat for the English breakfast. I have breakfast at the hotel every day and it's great. Service: Five points for service, the staff will greet you when they see you, and the room attendants are all. Price: It is not expensive in Norway. Considering the location, facilities, services, etc., I think the price/performance ratio is OK.
