This was a very last minute trip as we wanted to get out of London and stay in a beautiful Cotswold cottage in peace and quiet. We couldn't quite believe this beautiful cottage was available on such short notice. Everything about our stay was wonderful - the room was spacious with a gorgeous super kind bed. The cottage is like something you would see on a chocolate box! The surrounding area was also very calm and peaceful and so easy to get to by road. Nicola and Chris are the hosts who run the bed and breakfast. They were very welcoming and charming throughout our stay and very kindly helped to book our evening dinner options. They are very hospitable hosts and we had a great time getting to know them. I was very interested to learn from Nicola about the way that various third party platforms such as Booking.com had treated small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic - we like to consider ourselves very socially conscious individuals but having learnt about certain abusive practices by Booking.com, I am embarrassed to have booked via this platform. Having learnt about this from the hosts, we would only ever book directly with the accommodation in the future. Please educate yourself on this and do the same - you will not only save money but you will help small businesses that do not appreciate their terms of business being unilaterally amended and their brands hijacked. The breakfast was magnificent - cooked breakfast with fruits, toasts, orange juice and tea / coffee - the perfect start to the day! We had read a few reviews from confused guests who took issue with the policy of having to stay out between 10.30AM and 4PM. I must say that this policy is entirely standard in the UK bed and breakfast industry and I am confused as to why one would stay in during these hours when there are so many fantastic places to explore in the surrounds e.g. Bourton-on-the- Water. I just wanted to point this out because I consider those previous reviews to be very unfair and unjustified. Thank you very much for a wonderful weekend! We feel completely rested and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
