The Shelburne Sonesta New York

Fantastic hotel in all respects. I loved it here! I got upgraded to a very nice suite (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with a balcony). The amenities are great: they give you two free snacks or drinks per day from a wide selection that you get to choose from, and the gym is open 24 hours. The rooftop restaurant is also very good (although I’d recommend reserving a table in advance). The hotel itself is well-situated in Manhattan, within walking distance from many things and close to a few different subway lines. When I’m in New York in the future, I’ll definitely stay here again.

I don’t like the fact there was no waters in the room or even a slipper but other than that, the location was perfect. It was near to the city area, but it was in a very quiet area so if you want peace to just walk around close by you have that safety but if you want to go into the busy areas or the popular areas, you are just a few blocks away

At the time of check in I asked for a late checkout and was asked what time I am asking for. I told 12:30 and was told that it is going to be granted. I stayed at the hotel just for one night and just to sleep. My door got knocked 4 times on the morning of departure by room service for cleaning starting from 9:50 am. First of all, why would you try to do room service on the day of departure? It is clearly not communicated between room service team and front desk. Even more, Communication of my departure time was not properly communicated and thus a hotel manager was knocking my door at noon to ask if I am not going to leave. Room service personnel were extremely loud yelling each other at distance on the aisles all this time, so even if I were not disturbed by door knocking, I would've woken up because of them yelling and closing the doors full force.

The hotel has great location, old furniture, shower and they didn’t give me high floor room. The elevators are slow and need to wait forever to catch one. The photos from the hotel don’t match with the reality, in reality everything is super old, reception is bad and I don’t understand in what reality this hotel has 4 stars. I’ll come back to New York but will choose another hotel in the same location.

I've stayed here for one night during thanksgiving before I left for DC. The room was not small, but the facilities were quite old. The lifts were too small & slow. The price was reasonable and the reception was very friendly. Overall not bad.
