We arrived by car at this new, modern hotel. We could easily park the car in one of the free parking spaces in the fenced area in front of the impressive building. At the reception we were welcomed by a lady who was top friendly and super professional at the same time. When we checked in, we immediately felt warmly welcome. We were given valuable tips for our stay in the city, and we were also helped to book a table for dinner when seats in the restaurants were scarce because of the weekend. The spacious rooms have a creative design. At the same time, they are very homely. Everything is absolutely clean. The beds are comfortable with pleasant pillows. Air conditioning and rain shower are of course also part of the great equipment. At breakfast, we were equally welcomed by brilliant staff who complemented the rich, high-quality buffet with perfect service. We will be back!

The hotel facilities are superb, in line with the five-star standard, the 60-minute free spa is super comfortable, you can use the massage pool and two saunas, the breakfast is very good, you can see the chef is very attentive. The room is very characteristic and not at all. The hotel is the best photo point to climb up to the opposite rock church for five minutes, behind the church is the ancient cave.

This Masseria is located at about 10 min driving distance from the city center. It’s a convenient location, with supermarkets and gas stations nearby and close to the highway too. The place is great, an old building with lots of history behind that was renovated and converted into a hotel/guest house, with a beautiful outdoor pool and garden. Unfortunately, I found the management very inexperienced - except for Enzo at reception, who went above and beyond our expectations from the day we arrived, offering plenty of good suggestions for places to visit, restaurants and shops and always ready to help and make us feel welcome. The rest of the staff is either very young or does not seem prepared for the task they are up to. They also have a restaurant inside, managed by other owners, where we did not have a good experience at all. We had dinner there one evening. The food options were very limited (and did not reflect that was on the menu), the food was average and the service seemed improvised. When we paid the waiter summed up our bill with a manual calculator and couldn’t even remember the prices of the dishes in the menu (he was looking at a hard copy of it) - something I found hilarious and have never seen before! Also, bad price-quality relation - you can get something much better for better price in Matera. Overall, OK rooms and apar**ents, although not perfectly clean, and OK breakfast too. However, I would not go back to this Masseria as I am sure there are better places in Matera for the same price. A pity considering the beautiful location they have!

Two weeks ago, we held a course of personal growth and biodance at your hotel that defining a jewel might seem reductive. In the gracious room at the reception we have performed the theoretical course guided by coach Antonella Moccia carefully and cocktailed by Sharon and Emily always available at any request, Their rooms were clean and clean, and on the terrace, we were in the fantastic music, guided by master Nando Gozzi, we were in the lessons of biodance. Matera is beautiful, so it's all a contour. This premise, I gave this weekend to my husband for his birthday because we never had been at Matera. I booked this hotel for his particularity, choosing the room in the saxes. The “negative” things I found were: “The quite uncomfortable bed, because I often wake up during the night. 'The continuous noise even during the night of the dehydrator, which is for charity and which does not rain on it, but replace it with a more silent, would not be bad.' 'The breakfast, which I expected more richly and with a buffet.' But small, but the difference is. For the rest, the hotel is in a great location and the staff is kind and available. Would I come back? Yes, but I would choose a normal room

The location of the hotel is in the historical part, but outside the area of the ”caves”. The room was fine and clean. But the staff was not very nice. For example, we ordered a small bed for a toddler and it was delivered to the room without a mattress. It took me some time to explain them that the baby can not sleep without mattress and just after that they realized that we need it. Breakfast was simple, to simple for 4*, even 3* hotel.

I stayed at Hotel Nazionale-Matera while visiting family for 9 nights with my son. My wife recommended this hotel based on her stay a few weeks earlier when she visited Matera with friends. She knows how fussy I can be, so she knows if I didn't like it, she would be hearing about it for quite awhile. The hotel is in a great location, modern, and safe. The room was sleek, clean, and housekeeping came every day. The beds were comfortable and extra blankets and pillows were available. The breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of options-eggs, sausages, rolls, toast, pastries (lots of delicious pastries), fruit, juice, coffee, etc. I looked forward to going there each morning. The hotel staff was professional, friendly and very accommodating. We had to leave very early on our last day to catch an early flight and they arranged for a bagged breakfast for us. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar and sitting on the patio was an extra plus. After 9 nights you'd think I would have at least one negative take away, but I don't.

Just caught the last couple of rooms in Il Belvedere for the 2 nights we wanted &, despite it's fairly high price, I'm so glad we did. Sleeping in a huge cave suite (room 47) was a fabulous experience. I don't know how a cave which had housed 15 people and their animals could be so beautifully appointed, with a massive cave shower area and comfortable seating. We even found an old water cistern tucked away in a corner. Huge comfortable double bed & lovely soft lighting completed the effect. However the room in mid-April was chilly & the bed linen was too cold to be comfortable & the polished limestone floor was icy. Could be an advantage in July/August, but would suggest you get the management to put your heating on well before bedtime. Breakfast buffet was excellent, staff were friendly & helpful & the terrific terrace with its view over Matera & the Gravina Gorge was something I will never forget. Parking was easy.
