Maisons du Monde Hôtel & Suites - Marseille Vieux Port

Centralized location at the M****ille port and close proximity to a series of bar and pubs. Getting the m****ille port view triple room model gives a luxurious 25sqm floor area.l But the same proximity also brought noise in the evening from near by dance clubs and even morning gathering crowds. Sound proofing is also its archilles heel.

It is with immense satisfaction and tremendous felicitation to all the managing staff at Goldentulip Euromed-M****ille. I would wish to extend my very special heartfelt thanks to Ms Celine, Ms Taina, and Mr. Saintiago. The tremendously competent lady: Ms. Celine. She is really a GTS: Géniale, Top, et Super. Ms. Taina is an always helpful lady with a special welcoming smile that makes feel more than at home. Mr. Saintiago is a man of solutions. He never tells you about the difficulties. For him, there is always a solution for the customers when a whatsoever problem happens. Thanks to you three, and to all the staff working with you, Goldentulip Euromed-M****ille has become a place for everything and everything in place. In a word: You are the best. 👍. I wrote this review after more than ten stays in this exceptional hotel to say that buildings become alive with the working staff that are managing them. I have tried three other nearby hotels, and it is a mistake to even think of comparing Goldentulip Euromed-M****ille to them. You cannot compare the incomparable!!

Stayed here for six nights. The room was spacious and clean with plenty of space for three people. Beds were comfortable and the balcony was a bonus. Nice for having our evening drinks. The only thing We found confusing was why leave tea and coffee but only small paper cups, a microwave but no plates or cutlery and water but no glasses? We rang reception and they gave us all of the aforementioned items. So all is forgiven.

Had my second stay here, this time in a lovely top floor room with views out across the city towards Notre Dame. Huge LG TV, lovely Nuxe toiletries, monsoon shower, and excellent housekeeping - everything spotless. Good North-African themed tapas in the hotel restaurant, and the guy in charge there was particularly helpful/friendly, recommending which bits of the city had good street art when I mentioned that was one of the main reasons I came to M****ille (Cours Julien fyi, which also has some fab cafes and vintage shops). My only gripe was the handling of the bill (as follows). My debit card was pre-authorised on arrival (and in excess of the actual cost of the room, but I assumed this to be an additional security deposit or similar, do didn't really feel too concerned at the time). When it came to checkout, it was agreed that we would let the pre-authorised amount stand, and I would be refunded the difference between that and the actual, final bill. However, when I checked my bank balance 3 days later I was shocked to find that I'd been billed for the full amount again, and the pre-authorised amount had not been released - so essentially I'd been charged twice (or twice and a bit, when you allow for the fact the first billing was an over-estimate anyway). This follows on from a cancelled pre-paid booking the previous year (due to Covid restrictions) that was supposed to be fully refundable, which I also really struggled to get back (it was eventually repaid but quite belatedly). So, I'm not saying don't stay here, because it is a really nice hotel in a very vibrant area (lots of cafes with fab Oriental pastries, markets etc) but you will really need to be on top of the financial side of things to ensure you aren't left out of pocket.

Be really careful with this hotel. After check out I got charged an extra 20€ for breakfast. As someone claims I took this while I never set a foot in the restaurant. That seems to be enough for them to just take it off my card without discussion.
Crowne Plaza Marseille le Dome, an IHG Hotel

My partner and I are staying in this hotel tonight (17Sep) The good. New hotel, feels clean and fresh. Nice airy lobby / reception area. Small pool but clean and inviting. Really friendly staff, I’ve asked for slippers and bucket of ice, delivered to our room within minutes with a smile. Thank you🌸 Underground car park, very convenient, but expensive. Bad: Our room ( no 814) has a very strange layout. The bathroom is “split” in half. Toilet is located separately by the door and the other “part of the bathroom” sink and shower is located on the other side of the room. Separate toilet has NO sink, so every time we use toilet we have to walk to the other side of the room to wash hands - unpractical, illogical and dead annoying. Very limited room service menu, very few dishes, no wine, no champi. The area - really dirty, rubbish on the street, noise from nearby apartment blocks. All in all - okay’ish for 1-2 nights not longer.
