Hotels near Koutoubia, Marrakech

We stayed at hotel chems from the 31st of December for six consecutive days for the new year. This was my second time in Marrakech but my mum's first time. The location is second to none within a few minutes walk to the square and also many other local attractions. On arrival we were told that we needed to check in from 3:00 p.m. we'd got there early but were able to drop off our bags and then go out exploring. The hotel itself is a little outdated, however it is very clean. Staff are very good, welcoming and attentive, room sizes good and price good. Bedrooms made up everyday, towels changed, cleaned throughout. Pool towels available for free at pool. We stopped between December and January, that is a very good size pool approximately 25 m. However it is very cold but still accessible plenty of seating areas for drinks and snacks. There are plenty of sun lounges around the poolside as well as in the grass area. Breakfast is served daily which is included within the cost and there was ample choice a selection of eggs, Cereals, yogurts a little fruit, many pastries, etc. The hotel also has a snack bar and does offer evening meals. We did not take any evening meals here. We did have snacks during the day. Things like salads, pizzas, burgers, etc. The food was good. As the hotel was very close to the local area, we were able to walk although it was close to a taxi rank. If you should need this. Within 1 minute walk to Koutobia mosque, then about 5 mins to jem so fnaa square, Cyber park short walk ( nice to visit) near royal mansour Marrakech, Around 40 mins walk is the beautiful menara :) There is also complex artisan is about 10 minutes walk maximum full of things to buy As you come out of the hotel grounds, if you do a left you will find a park on the left hand side ( Koutobia). You can walk straight through this to the main road to take a shorter route to places. There is plenty of opportunities for walking and running. It is very safe to run alone. When we were there the sunrose at about 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. and the mornings were cool. During the daytime, you can expect temperatures of around 18° c in December and January plenty warm enough if you are from England. We had a walking tour that I arranged before we went through TripAdvisor. It was very good. We also booked the waterfalls trip. This was okay. I also took a hot air balloon trip which was amazing. All of these were booked online instead of at the hotel. There was no particular reason not to book at the hotel. I just didn't realise that there was somebody on site to do this before travelling. The reception is manned 24 hours, 7 days a week. On New year's Eve, we was welcomed with a show and dinner from 7:30 p.m. full entertainment and several courses for a meal and drinks. As usual, the Sofitel Marrakech is my favourite hotel in town. I have been a regular customer for more than 15 years and I still enjoy every minute of my stay over there. The friendliness of the staff, the management and service is just top world-class. I can't wait to return once again to this place which I call my home away from home! Keep up the good work!

We checked in in the morning, which we were very grateful to them for allowing us to do. Everyone was so kind and helpful even after we realized there was a problem with our reservation. They worked with us and never tried to charge us for the mistake even though they certainly could have (especially when it took a few days for our travel agent to fix it). The food was delicious, every single person was friendly and helpful. We also got massages at the spa and were so happy and relaxed. They even held our luggage for free for a few days while we went on an excursion. The rooms they gave us for the second half of our stay were even nicer than the first. They were in the process of filing the pool and we really enjoyed sitting out by it even though they were laying even more pretty tile (the hotel is very beautiful as it is, even nicer than the pictures). I will say the internet passwords kept expiring which was annoying, but they always gave us a new code without any issue except the minor inconvenience. We will definitely be back.

We booked for a 3 night stay for 3 people but had to manage a room for 2, for the first 2 nights. No apologies whatsoever from the hotel nor a compensation. The 2 rooms we stayed in during our stay were both badly lit; make up for nights out was a huddle cos the room was quite dark. A great highlight however is the amazing location and fresh flowers in the lobby that oozed amazing scents.

We checked in to our deluxe room, and it was a horrible stay. First off, the deluxe room building is the furthest building away from the hotel, and by the time we get to our room, the view from our balcony is of a construction site and parking lot. Our room had a particularly strong vinegar smell to it, and we asked to move rooms. We were told that every deluxe room was sold out and we would be able to move rooms the next day. Next day comes around and we didn’t hear from the hotel. Every call to guest services took at least 3-5 minutes until someone answered or called back. We also came back to our hotel room unlocked, and it seemed housekeeping didn’t truly close our door when they cleaned it. On our last night, the A/C didn’t seem to work. We called guest services and the lady I spoke to told me that it was turned off for the whole hotel. When asked why or when will it be turned back on, she abruptly interrupts me and says I’m transferring you to the front desk. I waited for at least 2 minutes on the phone before someone from the front desk to answer my call, and he informs me that someone will come check our A/C. We love staying at different hotels in different countries and had no issues with other hotels in Marrakech, however, our stay at Movenpick was very underwhelming and staff didn’t seem to care at all. This has been a very awful experience, and hope that the hotel management can make a much better experience and improvement for others.

Superb hotel Well located and very well frequented. Spacious room, impeccable cleanliness, comfortable bedding. A welcome that makes you feel at home, very kind and helpful staff. A thought for Kenza at reception who was really adorable and attentive to the slightest request. Very popular rooftop swimming pool. I will go back with my eyes closed

We had a great stay. Clean and nice room with comfy bed. Breakfast by the pool was great. Staffs were nice and friendly especially the door gentleman! Check-in was a bit of a pain as it took ages (lack of staff when i arrived)… we needed to rest badly but had to wait for like 20 mins. Lifts are very old and slow but luckily there wasn’t many guests so it wasn’t a burden. Ingeneral i think it was a good value hotel. We would come back!

The first time I went to Marrakesh, I stayed at this wonderful Oriental Mandarin Hotel! No matter the service, the scenery and everything in the villa 𥚃 brought me a lot of good memories! The food here is also very good! In addition to traditional food, there are Asian restaurants! ! There is also a traditional afternoon tea buffet outdoors every Sunday! People are very looking forward to staying here again next time! ! This is definitely the best choice for the whole family or traveling with friends! ! You can also ask the personal butler here to arrange a private guided tour! Fully tailored early trips make your trip in Marrakesh easy and safe! Especially the general manager here has been in Asia for 11 years, he is very aware of the needs of Asian guests! The service of the personal butler is also superb! Thank you! It is little bit far from the city center but hotel is amazing like a heaven on earth. Architecture and landscape is perfect. Spa personnel is not kind and friendly. And also there was a problem in the bathroom with water they waited for fixing and cleaning so long.
