Hotels near St John the Evangelist Church, London

Only 1 - 2 min walk from Russell Square Underground station. Comfortable bed and room is ok to fit in 2 adults and 1 kid. However there were insufficient room for us to open our luggage. We had to open the luggage one after one to take out our clothes. No drinking water was provided hence we had to buy from convenience store and carried back to hotel. Good thing is Tesco is only opposite the underground station. Wish to suggest to provide adequate trainings to front desk staff. When we checked in we were informed that our booking was canceled. (I have fully paid for the room upon booking) I showed to the staff the booking details but she still insisted our booking has been canceled, instead she asked me to call to the agent and get the agent to contact the hotel. I had no choice but to “follow her instructions” to do so. After 10 min trying to contact the agent (due to different time zone), the front desk staff called me “madam” many times from her counter (it was about 300m away and I was not aware that she was calling me), and told me that she has found my booking. When I asked the reason why initially the booking was canceled but now it was found, she did not answer me but to pass me the room key. After checked in to the room, noticed that both the lamps near the bed were not functioning and we called to front desk (only 1 light in front of the washroom was working). We were informed that the one who is able to fix it has left and we had to wait till the next morning to get the lamps fixed. Eventually they sent us a table lamp for that night.

A very good hotel at a great location. 3 min walking from Russell Square underground station. Or bus 14 nearby which can take you to lots of places. Would definitely book this hotel again. Great value for money.

We had a lovely stay at St Giles, London. Well located hotel, near to Tottenham Court Road Station, bus stops, supermarkets, shops, eateries, theatres etc. From Heathrow Airport, we took the Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court Road Station and hotel was just a short walk away. The British museum was also nearby. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. As we arrived rather early, Nikki helped us to secure a room earlier than official check in time, so that we can put our luggages and rest. The concierge guys were great, giving advice on how best to get to our destination. The Chinese gentleman, sorry, I didn't get his name, even helped me with my Bolt app bookings! We booked 2 new twin rooms. Although they were small, they were sufficient for 2 pax in each room. All amenities that we needed were available and rooms were cleaned thoroughly when we returned from our sightseeing. There was no air conditioner in the rooms but weather was great, so we had no issues. The breakfast served was excellent, with a wide variety. Good choice for our short stay in London.

I stayed for 1 night recently at wombats on dock st. The hostel is perfectly located close to two underground stations and in central london. The hostel itself is very modern, clean and spacious. The manager zsuzska and staff at wombats are kind and friendly. The check in process was quick and the breakfast was a bargain at £4.90. The room itself was perfect and i slept very well in the comfy bed. I would highly recommend wombats to anyone travelling to london. Thank you zsuzska and wombats for a perfect stay. Dave

It was our anniversary. While we enjoyed the amenities, the room service left much to be desired. Had to ring more than 6 times to get the in room breakfast we had booked the night before - very annoying. Also had to ring several times to get bottled water sent up to us. Like I said, room service left much to be desired. But other than that, everything else was fantastic. When the breakfast FINALLY arrived, it was good, so I give them that.

We stayed 3 nights here, first night the rooms were wrong, after going to reception the ignorant woman behind reception was no help. Her male colleague changed the rooms on day 2. All 4 rooms were dumps, not fit for 1 star. Our room in the basement was directly above the tube line, you could hear it travelling every few minutes. Health and safety doesn't exist here. Breakfast is basic, no hot food and the milk was sour and stored in a flask. Everywhere except reception is filthy. The bar was closed for 2 of the 3 days we spent here as the barman did not turn up for work and nobody else was authorised to open the bar including the manager. 10 pounds charge to store your luggage while you wait to get checked in!!! While passing through reception at various times we heard at least 6 people complaining about the rooms they had been allocated. Nothing matches the photos online. Windows unlockable, safes not working, corroded tap in the ”newly refurbished bathroom”, showers blocked. Well over priced for what it is. This place is not a hotel!! Unfortunately 0 stars is not an option.

Stayed for a night and got an amazing room! Very spacious and comfortable, im extremely grateful! Definitely will be back! Complete amenities and a great view too! The shower was lovely, fully functional and detachable. I had a massive view, and a double bed. Breakfast was an option but and seemed lovely but I didn’t try it as I was there briefly.

The worst hotel stay I have experienced! Arrived after a hectic day at work only to be greeted by the rudest receptionist I have ever encountered. I travel and stay in London on a weekly basis and have never experienced customer service like it. Receptionist was agrresive in attitude and demanded a cash payment of £100 on entering the hotel. I explained I had paid in adance in full via booking.com with no notification at time of booking that a deposit would be required. Rudely demanded of photo ID and notified a charge of £250 would be taken for evidence of drug use. I am a professional business customer and this was so poorly judged by staff. I was told I was emailed on booking that cash deposit of £100 would be demanded on booking 2 weeks prior. Communication was provided on the day at 9.00am via booking.com email and was not seen due to being at work. Was told I should walk to a cash point in the rain with little direction as to where the nearest cash point was. It was pouring with rain, getting dark and I was a lone female customer. Receptionist replied that she was happy to cancel my booking if I preferred . The day of the queen's return to buckingham Palace with no chance of securing an alternative hotel. After returning with the cash I was given a key card with no holder with room number on. I made my way to my room after clarifying room number twice, staff area doors in corridors left open exposing dirty laundry, key card device broken off door, semen stains on wall, public hair on top of bed sheets. Mortified, so much so I didn't get under the sheets for fear of what I would find. Tried to have a wash to find the shower gel had been topped up 3 quarters with water from a previous guest. Worst stay of my life!!! Unsafe and should be closed down!!

Interesting stay! I wasn't sure about the girl on reception as she didn't give me my suitcase at first, when I collected my bags. However, I just remembered I saw a ticket on the floor so she must have dropped it and I didn't realise it was mine! 😂 Sorry. My room key and TV had minor issues on my second night and the lift is a bit rickety. However, overall a pleasant stay for the price: decent location, clean, compact and cute room and okay breakfast (in a beautifully decorated little room with attentive staff). In fact the staff were all great really and are polite. So, I recommend. Thank you.

Generic chain hotel stay as you would expect, rooms were clean and comfortable, half decent view of London skyline actually. Just as expected, if you expect anything special from a holiday in then you’re insane, it’s a clean comfortable no frills place to stay, standard breakfast, decent parking aside from added cost and all staff were very pleasant so can’t complain, only negative was having to pay an extortionate price for 2 night but that’s my fault for booking last minute when the Laver cup was on at the 02. On that note this is a great location for access to the 02. 10 minute walk.
