I booked a cocoon 4 with Zedwell. Zedwell’s website promotes the Cocoon rooms as having sound-proofed walls, floors, and doors, designed to shut out city noise. Unfortunately, this was not the case during my stay. I could clearly hear the underground trains running throughout the night, as well as people walking and talking in the corridor, which made it very difficult to sleep.
Cleanliness was another major concern. The room has a tatami-style layout with a mattress placed directly on the floor, so hygiene is particularly important. However, when we entered the room:
• There was hair left in the shower drain
• Breadcrumbs on the tatami floor, very close to where we were sleeping
• The floor did not appear to have been properly mopped
After we reported this, reception staff were polite and quickly arranged for housekeeping to clean again, which I appreciate. However, even after this second cleaning, we found a dead worm near the shower door, which was very unpleasant.
Additionally, the hot water was unreliable. I had to wait around five minutes before the water became hot enough to shower.
The reception staff offered a late check-out as compensation, which was a nice gesture, but overall the stay did not meet the standards advertised — particularly regarding soundproofing and cleanliness.
