Glansit Kyoto Kawaramachi

New Hostel in a good area. Only downside is the Check-in time.

Located perfectly near Kyoto-Kawaramachi, this hostel can offer top service in every aspect: staff is very welcome and friendly, everyone speak great English and everything is clean. They have male and women only floors and also one that is a mix for everybody. Each guest is offered a locker that can fit a 203cm luggage and can keep your extra bags. Capsule itself is extremely spacious, as a 182cm male I could sit up properly in my space and still have room above me. Ventilation is okay and power sockets as well as good lightning are included. Toilets and showers are very well cleaned and maintained. Each day you are given a new set of towels and slippers, which is very nice. Guests here were well mannered and friendly. Overall I can say with confidence that this is a very good place to stay in Kyoto, totally recommend! P.S.: Gion is located nearby so that is also a plus. Note that this is not "party" hostel

Bad value for money and incompetent service! I spent one night there for 13,070 JPY, which is quite a high price for a capsule hotel where you're sleeping with 50 other people. The very late check-in (from 5pm) isn't very practical, and the staff spoke very little English. In general, the reception staff were only marginally helpful with questions and important matters. Furthermore, there was only cold water at the sinks, and baggage drop-off was only possible until 4pm. If you left your luggage there beyond that time, they would have called the police, and you would have had to pick it up from the police station, according to the translation on the employee's phone. There was also a lounge with a variety of drinks, but it was only accessible to women, which is also pretty unfair. I can't really recommend this accommodation and wouldn't book here again.
